Just don't listen to the remixed version of this album, both Take No Prisoners AND Five Magics don't sound right; I think Nick did the backing vocals and Dave cut him out because they were feuding.

I can see it in your smile how much you love this!! Makes smile, I’ve been a metalhead since the early 80’s and we never were taken seriously so seeing people appreciate the music now is satisfying.
The second part of the song "...The Punishment Due" is the story of the comic-book character Frank Castle-aka-The Punisher. Some details from the comic book are in the verses "They killed my wife and my baby, with hopes to enslave me" and "Paid by the Alliance to slay all the Giants"
I remember when this came out, it was very relevant to the "social climate" and the things happening in our government and around the world!!! He's very intelligent, it's not just mindless, headbanging, THERE'S A MESSAGE!!!
I grew up listening to Megadeth and throughout the years this is still one of my most favorite tracks. Great to see younger people appreciate the complexity of the track and how deep the lyrics go
Quick note for those not familiar: This is a two song medley, separated by the cool "middle eastern" guitar break. The first half relates to an experience the band had in Ireland where Dave ran his mouth about the "Troubles", and nearly got them beaten. It's a mea culpa of sorts. The second part referres to the Punisher comic series from the perspective of the protagonist.
I can still remember the day "Rust in Peace" was released I put this record on after picking it up from the local record store on my way home after school. I remember it as clearly as the first time I heard AC?DC, Iron Maiden, Metallica, and most importantly Slayer! This song was very important for the progression of not just Megadeth but Heavy Metal music in general. I still get goosebumps when I listen to this song even after all these years. I'm glad other people still get that same feeling.
No doubt, the timing of it was insane, after a long wait for something new to drop. Metallica was on hiatus, it had been a minute since megadeth or anyone put out a banger. When this hit my jaw was on the floor. I'll never forget that time. This album was a death blow to anyone else at the time. As heavy and as well produced at the same time as you could get at that time.
Megadeth know how to cram about 30 minutes of music into 5 minutes of song. Awesome track. The apparent urban legend story about their shirts off is that they filmed in an airplane hanger and it was about 40 degrees celsius outside on the day(thats about 100F). Any way that riff when it kicks in the middle section of the song still rocks as does the whole song. Great video as always!!!!
I once saw a clip on RUclips of Dave explaining that very thing right befits the music video itself plays so it is true and the rest of the band is tgere with him as he talks about it. I'm not sure exactly where it's from originally or where to find it at this point (might still be on some increasingly obscure RUclips video) but that story about ehy they didn't wear shirts in the video is in fact true.
Been listening to all kinds of metal my whole life. It's the only music that can give me the feelings from goose bumps, all the way up to an adrenaline rush. Absolutely love it!
This line up, but was a well oiled machine the time signature changes were phenomenal. The whole song was just phenomenal, but the musician ship was stellar.
Great comments about the line of taking my thoughts away. A more recent Megadeth song hitting on the same theme is Who's Life Is It Anyway. Would love to hear your thoughts on that one.
i can tell simply by watching your reaction to hearing this song again... that we are kindred spirits... This is the kind of song with it's changes in timing and a stand behind message, that will last the ages. Imagine... the future of classical music might very well include Megadeth...
Poison Was the Cure, is another great one. It's about addiction to a substance of ill repute. Short, intense, and when it's done you feel like you're coming down from something, but in a good way.
I've heard Dave called many things, but never a Prophet. 🤘🙏🤘Love it... and your channel. Looking forward to seeing Tasha introduced to more Megadeth. How about some older Megadeth, something off the first two albums with Chris Poland.

Rust in Peace is explosion in metal music..ever..every song is masterpiece...and simply can't compare with any album of that year..still have this album on cassete and sound very good..Megadeth fan forever..
I'll always love this song. Not only is this a God-tier riff/intro, but it's simply magnificent. Furthermore, I remember when I was in high school (2002), there was this girl who would talk to me here and there and she was one of the hottest girls in the school, but she wasn't one of those prissy stuck up types, she was actually really cool, and I was sort of into the goth thing at the time, but nothing extreme, just lots of black lol anyway, one day she asks me what I'm listening to, as my headphones are on, and I hand it to her to sample (I restart Holy Wars for her) and her response was "you have _awesome_ taste in music." 20 years later, that makes me beam.
Megadeth's music has given me goosebumps and chills since i was a teen in the 1990's, the lyrics aside, which pretty much nobody paid attention to for many years until the internet became a thing, and we could google what they were saying, the tempos, the licks, the and acrobatics of what they did with electric guitars was definitely next level for the era. I heard her comment about the song referring to the middle east, that's what I took from the song also for many years, but according to Dave Mustaine the song was written about the "troubles" in northern Ireland, which in my opinion doesn't fit the imagery of the video which is very much about the wars in the middle east.
I want to commend you guys I love that you have such an eclectic range of music reactions. This is my personal favorite song from Dave and the Megadeath machine. The middle eastern sounding guitar interlude does make it seem like the song is a out the middle east, but its actually about the war between Ireland and Northern Ireland
