Uhh idk I really like both of them I think bowser is stronger in strength but I feel like eggman with his intelligence he will probably do something rotten and maybe win

@@altandemei2644You know, I've always wondered what Bowser's relationship is with the other "kings". Like King Boo or King Bob-omb. Are they totally subserviant to Bowser? Or are they more like close friend/allies that lend Bowser their troops?

Something I didn't notice until the third rewatch; when the Death Egg charges up and some of the troops flee, it's exclusively Eggman's troops, partly to avoid it (duh) but also because they know that Eggman would 100% sacrifice them to get the win. Bowser's troops all remain, a little in shock, but also because they know that Bowser will try to shield them from it. So when the fight resumes, the battlefield is 100% Bowser's army.
I think it’s more likely that it’s because Eggman’s troops know what’s about to happen, but I like your explanation better so that’s what I’m choosing to believe.
Something funny about Infinite's death is that there's legit a reason why King Boo used the Thwomp. Infinite was increasing gravity so that would've made the Thwomp more effective. King Boo chose the Thwomp because he knew it would hurt the most lol.

A kaiju sized Bowser leaping in front of his army to protect them from the super laser shot by a moon sized space station has to be my favorite Death Battle moment of all time.
@@gratedshtickTo be fair, the super laser piss did kinda kill Bowser. But what Eggman didn’t realize is that killing Bowser is nowhere NEAR enough to kill Bowser.

I like how King Boo is the only one not invested in the wedding and laughs at his team for getting fooled by Infinite's illusions because he is the only one who is not a member of the Koop Troop out of loyalty or respect for Bowser; he's more of an independent contractor that Bowser employs.
And his plans in Luigi’s Mansion 2 and 3 would certainly conflict with Bowser’s interests, considering that the former had him nearly make the universe collapse on itself, while the latter had him kidnaping Peach.
There is a quote by Sun Tzu that I love that fits Bowser, more less "Regard your soldiers as your children, and they will follow you into the deepest valleys; look upon them as your own beloved sons, and they will stand by you even unto death."
There's something kind of poetic about how's Eggman tricks Bowser with a Cardboard Cutout of Peach, and then right before the killing blow, Eggman's Blaster is turned into Cardboard. Nice touch.
Bowser was definitely NOT HAPPY at being catfished with the purpose of invasion! I love both villains, don't get me wrong, buuuut I've always been closer to Bowser.
I love how, during the description of how Bowser's army is more loyal than Robotnik's, they have the helpful tip of "Eggman has been betrayed by..." followed by what is essentially a list of every single character in the Sonic series.
eggman's actually been betrayed by the heroes and anti-heroes several times as well: Shadow, Rouge, Knuckles, Tails teamed up with him in Boom but Boom... should not exist; basically every side character he has ever duped into doing his bidding, and then as mentioned by you, basically every villain INCLUDING his own creations. Even in this situation that was in his favor, Metal Sonic likely would have gone rogue the moment things did not go according to plan and Sage would focus more on saving Eggman's life than victory.
Noticed no one else mentioning this, but at 23:45, you can see the subtle hints of Bowser being DISTURBED as he was reversing the effects of the Metal Virus. Which, fair enough the Metal Virus is HORRIFIC, but I imagine that, in the scenario where the Metal Virus is brought out, it also would act as motivation to WIN. After all, if his opponent is willing to use something as horrific as the Metal Virus against his opponents, what would he do to his subjects if they lose? To his own family? Just, nothing says "Time to take this completely seriously" then realizing how casually cruel your opponent is. Especially when you have EVERYTHING to lose.
I love how the animation showed the difference in leadership between Bowser and Eggman, Bowser was constantly in the front line, fighting Eggman's troops and big hitters, while keeping his own troops safe, meanwhile Eggman was in the back giving orders and having his minions fight his battles, and if Eggman's minions got in trouble, Eggman didn't attempt to help them at all
Neat detail how Eggman jumps out of the way causing Metal to get hit, followed by Sage and Metal protecting him, while Bowser almost died being a meatshield for his troops
Bowser cares about his henchmen even though they’re weak while Ivo cares about some of his creations besides Orbot, Cubot, Metal, and Sage since he turned one of his creations into a turret.
This might unironically be one of the best fights I’ve seen. The animation, the power context behind classic and new characters, the personalities. God, so good.
I kinda like how bowser was kinda the hero in this battle (he’s a villain but not a bad guy) constantly protecting his troops and got enraged when his son was hurt.
Yeah seeing Mike Tyson like that just really made me think "Is this the same guy?". I mean yeah he's close to 60 but at least The Undertaker put up more of a fight.
A bit of storytelling that I noticed on my multiple rewatch is that Jr. is almost always in front of his dad during the fight. At the beginning, then protecting him from Neo Metal, then at the end with the wand. I love this because that’s something he absolutely picked up from Bowser. The mentality that “A King stands in front of those who he cares about.” Which is something that we see Bowser do with the Death Egg laser. Just really good character writing.
This is why Bowser and Dedede are the best fictional kings in gaming in my opinion. Not only are they on the front lines with their troops, but they grow and evolve over time to be less antagonistic and more just general nuisances to the heroes.
@@zerodiversion4509 true, Since Dedede was just very egotistical, and grew to be more ilkeable and sympathetic with his army, with his first actual rooter day in and day out was Bandana Dee, that moment was just enough to push Dedede to further limits to care for his Waddle Dee's. That doesnt mean he didnt care for them at all, he did ever since the start. Its more the fact his own army grew more and more on him as time went on, especially in Forgotten Land, sacrificing himself over a singular Waddle Dee, as he knew his army was more important, a true king to the very end like Bowser.
People keep pointing out Bowser jumping in front of the laser, but they miss the fact that he was using his magic to prevent Infinite's gravity manipulation from crushing his troops, too. Him protecting his army was evident from pretty early in the fight.
There's also the detail of why increased gravity is so effective on the koopa troop: It means they're being crushed by a lot of force from above. As 40 years of games have proven, that's practically their kryptonite. Bowser *knows* this, and he knows he can tank it, they can't.
Not only was he protecting his troops during that, he wasn't protecting himself during it at all. You can SEE him wincing in pain. He's spending all that magic to protect his troops and none of it for protecting himself.
Yes, but regarding the beam, it was deliberately targeting them. Eggman was counting on Bowser intercepting it to protect his minions. What he didn't anticipate was that said minions could resurrect Bowser.
Is anyone else perfectly alright with there being no gore in this episode? Like, that's what everyone wants to see in these battles. But I think the lack of gore made this battle much better. It was WAY more satisfying to see Eggman get punched into a giant question block that rained down coins with his demise. Rather than having him burst into red mist from the same punch. Now, I don't think they should stop doing gore. But for this Death Battle, it was perfect to let the fighting do all the talking. 😊
Was thinking the same. Gore has its place (this is DEATH Battle after all) but it always felt out of place when purely cartoony matchups would have the same gratuitous blood spectacle as other episodes. Time and place and all that
For anyone wondering how much Bowser respects and trusts his army, in Mario and Luigi: Dream Team, Bowser swallows a shattered dream stone giving him the power to create and do anything as long as he can dream of it. When he fights Mario and Luigi while wielding INFINITE POWER, he summons dream versions of his minions. They're just colorful, they have no changes to them otherwise. While wielding the power to do anything, he still has complete faith in his army.
Don’t forget the inverse too. In Bowser Jr’s Journey, Kamek states that the minions follow Bowser out of respect and loyalty. Jr originally was doing Nepo-baby things like undermining and belittling them but when Kamek scolded him that the minions are what make Bowser strong and that treating them like dirt will bite you in the ass later, he was right. The minions start to respect and follow Jr the moment he starts acting like his dad, and this is expanded even further in Brothership. Bowser befriended the Concordians and gave them food, shelter, homes and protection from Zocket’s army as long as they cooperated with him. He even gives his army free sodas and has an exact tally of how many troops were beaten by Mario and Luigi. He will quite literally do anything for his troops, his only weakness is his irrationality when he sees Mario.
@@browserjunior4707I was gonna mention that last bit. He was in a fight and the moment he saw the brothers, he stopped to take shots at them. Tho much like Eggman, when those three actually work together it is frightening what they can accomplish. And I think the Bro's have a mutual respect for Bowser back. I mean they did make sure he got his cake that one time. And even at the end of SMO the two seemed to be consoling one another.
@@ReikuYin That’s the thing the brothers and Bowser respect each other like crazy, it’s just Bowser has a 1-Sided Rivalry. In every situation Mario would rather have things resolve peacefully, the only reason he beats bowser is because bowser himself is the problem. If the problem was something worse then Bowser will always reluctantly help the brothers if it came down to it (and it’s always the bare minimum too). Even in Inside Story where the goal was to beat Fawful, he fought the brothers just cause he hated the idea of them getting to the Star Cures first. What’s funny is that he will compromise and be down to other instances of competition as long as he can beat Mario. He’s down for parties and racing solely for the chance he can show up Mario. Bowser is his own worst enemy (which is funnier when you consider he can beat himself in a fight if you consider Dark Bowser, the only time he couldn’t beat himself is when he’s fighting Paper Bowser who is his equal in every way)
I heard people describe this fight basically being a “Leader vs a Boss” The Leader basically help participate and in fact leads by example. While the boss just gives orders and stay in the back relying on his workers.
I wanted to add, I love the subtle story telling happening throughout this fight. Eggman was always stepping back while Bowser stepped forward. Ironically, despite being a turtle, it was only a matter of time before Bowser caught up to Eggman.

@@barbatos8498 They still have some form of sentience, so once Eggman is down it’s unlikely they are going to keep fighting to the last man. Sage is plotting something, so she’s probably just gathering data on Bowser’s weak points rather than genuinely switching alliances.

@cuhTheEditor it was literally suh a close fight. The problem with eggman is that his robots don't work together and aren't loyal. Also they did infinite dirty making him die to a thomp
One time in Super Paper Mario, if you have him active preluding the clash with Brobot L-Type, and that brainwashed Luigi as Mr. L will call him Butterball. Bowser then responds. "I'm not fat! I just got a big shell."
This fight had no right being one of the greatest death battles OAT. Not only was the fight incredible, but the animation was to die for, and the WRITING was without flaw. Well done Death Battle.
The fact that even when Infinite uses his illusions, Bowser immediately focuses on keeping his army alive because he knows he can take it for a period of time. True Gigachad.
I think Infinite was increasing gravity. That's why King Boo was able to stop him, because K.B.'s unaffected. That also explains how the Thwomp was able to crush Infinite, physics worked against him.
-Wydm by alternate scenes?- Ah, nvm. Found them. Some of them are really cool tho. Getting to see Dreamy Bowser vs Time Eater, even if for a little bit was cool. It shows that they thought of all outcomes and they still think Bowser would win. I do like the option they chose as well. Getting to see their armies clash more than they did was really awsome and pretty realistic if these two actually fought.
I think it's really good for helping people see why they chose certain winners and losers, and could hopefully reduce how virtiolic certain outcomes end up being.
agreed. DB should take this and apply it to future eps too, cause it's a great way to soften the blow, explain why they chose the outcome, and slip in some extra fanservice at the same time.

Knowing how eager Bowser is for Peach, probably about 10 minutes before he took her to his castle and brought along her new mysterious hooded bestie who also just so happens to be a priest.
One thing I noticed while rewatching: Remember how in Bowser's fury, it starts raining when Fury Bowser is about to happen? Well, when the "Chance Time" prompt shows up, you can see clouds forming. And when Metal Sonic notices the Phantom Ruby missing, it starts to drizzle, just like when fury Bowser is about to start. Legit great foreshadowing to Fury Bowser.
I like how Infinite increased gravity so King Boo, the only guy in the vacinity immune to gravity manipulation, summons a Thwomp so the extra gravity crushes Infinite extra hard
"Shut. Up. Nerd" Goes crazy though. And also Bowser is such a good father since he used his "strongest" star on Metal Sonic just to avenge his son Bowser is the father of the year!
It also had the ultimate ending culminating because of those 2 distinct leading styles. Bowser saved his army who backed him up when he needed them afterwards while Eggman used most of his army to cover for himself until he had pretty much nothing remaining to help him do the final push he needed to win.
Fitting that in the end Eggman was left standing alone with no one to back him up as he got overwhelmed. Really the only one that he doesn't want to see get hurt is Sage who did survive at the end to be fair. The rest were expendable. Even Metal has been destroyed and brought back several times before.
It isnt because in every game Eggman is one of the first bosses to step up. He was the leader in SA2 who tanked the main military forces alone while Bowser consistently sends his minions before him. Like i understand its for 13 year olds but man cmon
As the leaders of massive armies of disposable minions which they both regularly chuck at the heroes, it's not inaccurate to include the force multipliers each horde brings to the table. Unlike some of the other dark lords we've seen who prefer to death match the opposition, both Bowser and Eggman have been known to tag out and give their minions some play time once Plan A fails.
Not only did Chance Time come into play, coins rain down everywhere on everyone at the end, meaning he also started a Bowser Revolution and removed the wealth from Eggman

Bowser definitely sees his underlings as underlings, but that doesn't mean he takes what he has for granted. His softie side is buried under immeasurable layers of hulking meat, but it is there. Eggman obviously cares for Sage like a daughter and is insanely prideful of Metal, frankly I'd say he's an even bigger softie than Bowser despite being arguably more "evil", but obviously he's not going to bat as much of an eye to every single Egg Pawn.

Also, in Mario RPG, the Square developed game, he comes across a goomba that has deserted and taken up a peaceful life. That also helped secure his win, since if Bowser sacrificed his army/son, Eggman would have escaped and fired the Death Egg again. He protected them, so they protected him.

VERY Smart, easy to miss move by Sage at 21:25 - Eggman and Bowser are at a standoff right next to each other. Just aiming the Death Egg laser at Bowser would probably get Eggman caught in the explosion as well, and even if he could get out of there in time, Bowser would likely be able to run after him or at least get out of the way himself. But Sage notices from watching the fight that Bowser is devoted to his troops and makes the strategic decision to aim the Death Egg cannon not directly at Bowser who is the biggest threat, but at his troops in the other direction. This not only guarantees that her father can just barely but safely get out of the blast radius (His eggmobile gets toasted so it was definitely a close call) but she gambles on the fact that Bowser would have to choose between dodging the blast and chasing Eggman down or jumping directly in front of the beam to shield his army. And to her credit, her plan DOES work exactly as calculated: Eggman safely escapes and the Death Egg hits Bowser AND his troops. The only thing she couldn't account for was that his army could revive him.
I feel really bad for Sage. Despite not having been around for long, she was pretty much carrying the fight with her own strategies since Eggman's contributions are mostly the robots themselves, 99% of them being cardboard compared to what Bowser's allies can do. Okay but Bowser Jr. was actually amazing in this. At first I was a bit worried because he rushed in without his trademark Clown Car, which is so decked out with gadgets at this point that it's pretty much a magic version of the Egg Mobile, but honestly? _Stellar_ portrayal. The little dude helped his dad get his powered-up form, jumped in front of him to protect him from a Super Neo Metal Sonic in his Shadow Mario Form while pulling out his Final Smash move defensively, survived the clash, and then used either his or Kamek's wand (I think it was Kamek's?) to render the Egg Mobile useless, then the Death Egg; thus setting his dad up for the win. Real proud of him.
@@blitz4779 Oh, I'm very aware, and _that_ would have been a very interesting interaction, especially considering that Jr's Clown Car is also partially magic. That thing makes faces every time it uses a gadget and actively reacts to pain without Jr. needing to do anything about it, so it would've been neat to see that come into play if Sage tried to take it over. The Clown Car isn't nearly as iconic as the magic paintbrush for Bowser Jr., but it's grown in use recently (partially thanks to the NSMB series and partially thanks to Smash Bros.) so seeing in in action would still be nice. I could say the same about his Wonder form: not super iconic, but it would've been cool to see it be used. Similarly, I would've loved to see the Koopalings and the Hard-Boiled Heavies actually showing up, regardless of the strategical ramifications: I care about those, but I care about as much about the battle choreography. Given how *big* the fight was, though, I very much understand that the animators had to, you know, live through taking care of all this. It was a lot already. XD
@@The_P.O.P Honestly yeah, really great showcase. Metal Sonic sure carried on the other side, but it's nice to see how essential Jr. was on his dad's side of things. Very much a pleasant surprise ^_^

Dry Bowser: Behold the mighty Dr. Eggman. Ruler of a dying world. My world. Where is your army? Where is your ship? So powerful, and yet you will wander the depths of space for eternity, all because of me! What a fool.
FINALLY someone says it Bower losing to Mario and Eggman losing to Sonic isn't a negative against them, it's just an example of how powerful the heroes are.
This makes me realize both Link and Mario are very nearly the same. Both are in a sense “Fated Battlers.” (Mario/ Bowser/ Princess Peach = Link/ Ganondorf/ Zelda) And both have saved the world they’re in from world ending threats MULTIPLE times. They both don’t give up, even when outnumbered and out-powered. Both have crazy items in universe that are just crazy strong. It’s funny how their two lives are pretty similar.
Something I noticed: After the dust settles from the Death Egg's orbital blast, Bowser Jr. is just...quiet when he's firing the wand's magic. He's not yelling and screaming, he's not excitedly blasting things, he's just...quiet and tranquil, but still ABSOLUTELY pissed. Surprisingly mature for a kid of his age
I mean if you were punched by some universal level golden robot for just trying to protect your dad and then had to witness your dad get his skin vaporized you would be pissed too right?
You realy feel the teamwork on Bowser's side. He doesnt have to give a single order outside the initial attack. King Boo, Junior and Kemek jumped in and took action at the right times without being directed. Bowser teamed with their actions and attacks, and they all took the advantages the others provided. Meanwhile, infinite, metal and sage each came in one after the other, constantly facing down bowser by themselves and focused on bowser, seeing others just as obstacles. Only coordination came from Eggman giving occasional orders. Just imagine if Sage was used to shoot the death egg at her own timing. She could have fired 2 shots before Kemek locked it in a block. Or if infinite and metal doubled up their powers. But nope. Great coreography to show that the power Bowser had on his side and that gave him the clear sinning edge, was teamwork.
His entire legacy is being disrespected. All anyone knows him for is the "I AM NOT WEEAAAKKK!" scene after Shadow left him picking his teeth up from the ground lol
I honestly think Kamek was giving a little too much respect. Pulling powers from the party games seems a little iffy. Otherwise, I absolutely love this animation. Seeing them acknowledge all the recent stuff from Shadow Generations, Frontiers, and even the IDW comics. I honestly think Metal Sonic got more respect here than he has in the comics recently.
I didn’t realise this until after a few rewatches that when Metal Sonic steals the gem, Bowser first sets off the dark lightening to follow him a great distance to keep Metal moving (since powering-up usually requires you to be stationary momentarily given the power-ups Bowser has encountered before). In the chance that Metal found a safe spot, he then launches Broggy (the best blocky boy) to pursue him relentlessly. That is one tough mutt, and only a few counters are on the battlefield for Broggy (I.e. chain chomp). Then lastly Metal has to swing by King Boo because he doesn’t want a repeat of what happened to Infinite as he powers himself up to be a greater threat (and given King Boo is a smart and sneaky villain, I’m sure he was keeping tabs on Metal as soon as he got on the scene). All of this, was intentionally made to waste Metal’s time to allow for the successful set-up of the Chance Time to steal the gem, and because Metal had been deliberately chased so far away, it meant Metal couldn’t close the distance in time to potentially snatch the gem back before Bowser crushed it (even when he had the emerald power-up!). I suppose with all the numerous MacGuffins that Bowser has stolen over the years, he has learnt a thing or two, as well as the art of sizing up an enemy and turning their strengths into weaknesses he can then exploit. That is downright impressive quick-thinking strategising by Bowser!
It's hard to say if Bowser planned all that himself. But if he didn't, that also leans harder into Death Battle's analysis. Kamek saw the Phantom Ruby slip and Bowser treating Metal as a priority target, then said, "I got this, boss!" and played his best card for getting it back while Metal was preoccupied. The Koopa Troupe looks to Bowser for orders but is capable of improvising and organizing themselves on their own, too.
Imagine if the storyboard shows that the whole fight was just jr and sage arguing who’s dads is stronger with them playing the fight with action figures and miniatures of their armies

Something I didn't notice until the third rewatch; when the Death Egg charges up and some of the troops flee, it's exclusively Eggman's troops, partly to avoid it (duh) but also because they know that Eggman would 100% sacrifice them to get the win.

That’s actually so wholesome
The moral of this story
Bowser is what a king should be
@@browserjunior4707I was gonna mention that last bit.

I do like the option they chose as well. Getting to see their armies clash more than they did was really awsome and pretty realistic if these two actually fought.
Agreed, loved they took the time to animate those, even if just a couple seconds. Even if it just eye candy, that was a fantastic touch.

It also had the ultimate ending culminating because of those 2 distinct leading styles.
"his kids, the koopalings" "their adopted" "what's the difference?" a remarkably wholesome exchange when you think about it
Nintendo revealed that the Koopalings aren't actually related to Bowser and re just his "minions". Junior is his only biological child. It caused some controversy with older fans who saw the Koopalings always depicted as his children. Later Nintendo clarified that their explanation was a translation error. That the word used in Japanese could mean both "minions" and "adopted children" and was intentionally ambiguous, as DB explains in the black box.
Tbf the clown car is mechanical so sage would be able to take it, but since Jr doesn't rely on it the most, easier to use Jr paintbrush to fight
Little dude is the goat
@@blitz4779eeeeh tech and something mechanical are completely different things, think of it like this you can hack a phone but not a grandfather clock , since the clown car isn’t really tech and is more mechanical i don’t think sage could hack it
Dry Bowser: Behold the mighty Dr. Eggman. Ruler of a dying world. My world. Where is your army? Where is your ship? So powerful, and yet you will wander the depths of space for eternity, all because of me! What a fool.
This puts into perspective how tough Mario actually is. Dudes never run away even when Bowser had a whole ass army on his side.
FINALLY someone says it
Bower losing to Mario and Eggman losing to Sonic isn't a negative against them, it's just an example of how powerful the heroes are.
Mario's like Captain America
To be fair, usually Bowser doesn't has his whole army in the same place, but yeah, Mario is absolutely crazy
@@coffeelover0876 On God 😂
This makes me realize both Link and Mario are very nearly the same. Both are in a sense “Fated Battlers.” (Mario/ Bowser/ Princess Peach = Link/ Ganondorf/ Zelda) And both have saved the world they’re in from world ending threats MULTIPLE times. They both don’t give up, even when outnumbered and out-powered. Both have crazy items in universe that are just crazy strong. It’s funny how their two lives are pretty similar.
there's not been anything even remotely as disrespectful as the chance time in a death battle ever

“Bowser ruining EVERY SINGLE Mario Party” was by far the most hilarious and relatable thing EVER.

@@yukukita0609 true lmao
Something I noticed: After the dust settles from the Death Egg's orbital blast, Bowser Jr. is just...quiet when he's firing the wand's magic. He's not yelling and screaming, he's not excitedly blasting things, he's just...quiet and tranquil, but still ABSOLUTELY pissed. Surprisingly mature for a kid of his age
He did help Mario save his dad, and he did lead his siblings to fight against Fawful's minions.
I mean if you were punched by some universal level golden robot for just trying to protect your dad and then had to witness your dad get his skin vaporized you would be pissed too right?
@@chrimsonphantom "Erm, acktually, the Koopalings are NOT related to Bowser Jr." - ☝🤓
Yeah Lil guy was PISSED at that point lmao
@@TheBoiMyers They're still siblings.
Whereas Eggman is just garbage when it comes to teamwork given how many times he’s been betrayed by a non robotic ally.
infinite being killed by a thwomp is the biggest disrepsect i've ever seen but it makes sense
he is a jobber even with his powers.
@@MangoesBangoesicup totally deserved somehow he given a thing that massively upscales him yet he still throws away the bag
It makes no sense at all tf
Honestly the best deathbattle animation in a while
Goated summary
It's hard to say if Bowser planned all that himself. But if he didn't, that also leans harder into Death Battle's analysis. Kamek saw the Phantom Ruby slip and Bowser treating Metal as a priority target, then said, "I got this, boss!" and played his best card for getting it back while Metal was preoccupied. The Koopa Troupe looks to Bowser for orders but is capable of improvising and organizing themselves on their own, too.
I really liked this strategy analysis.
@@Lununguis which is great because on the other side only Metal Sonic and Sage can do that
