2 days ago i lost my job which was nicely paid, somehow i did not manage to save a bigger amount of cash (due to my health problems, especially liver....public health care s**ks so I had to do everything via private), in April/May I was going to get my own Redcat crawler. By now, standing in a front of facts and hmm...low cash situation, watchin Redcats in action on RUclips is my only "affordable" hobby :( cheers! U do great cars guys, keep goin'
foams are only hard in colder weather areas, Im in florida and my foams are so soft it looks like its sitting on flats. I highly suggest redcat move away from this memory foam type foam and just go with a standard closed cell or somehting. ooorrr continue being the leader in innovation and be the first RTR (that im aware of anyway) rig that comes with dual stage foams.
Up here in the cold they really suck, but the foams that come in the gen 7 work great around here all year but either way I still love both the redcats I have, now just gotta save for the axe! And probably just get on the redcat site and buy the gen 7 foams for the gen 8. Like you said, in warm weather the foams work pretty well so they're still worth having
@@RCVOODOO from what I've seen I definitely agree and having the gen 8 I can't imagine having the electronics that the axe has, and literally if all I have to complain about is foams for 6 months of the year than really there are no complaints at all and its completely stock and still impressive every time! Eventually I'll have some nicer wheels, just added a bunch of lights I put together from the dollar tree until I can get the actual light kit, and hopefully building a trailer soon too! The gen7 is also 100% stock and love that thing too! Never had a skid issue either but I did find a file for one and printed it and its strong and looks really good
@@RCVOODOO Either have I, I'd have no problem buying any redcat! I think I may look into the Ground pounder and one of their cars to turn into a drag car! I been thinking of some projects to help me mentally, I've have a hard time lately with PTSD which had my depression at an all time high but this week has been a little better because I decided to tear down both the gen7 and gen8. Now they're back together so I need something else lol
I tried boiling my foams. They were soft at first but then hardened right back up within a day or two. I boiled the crap out of them too. I would NOT waste your time/energy on boiling. Just get better foams! I used really really soft single-stage foams but also put clear gorilla tape over the vent holes on the insides of the rims so the tires hold pressure and do not allow water in. Very happy with this setup!
Seemed to really help the foams! Follow up.....after doing this it only helped for about an hr, once the foams cooled down they went right back to the way they were! Oh well it was worth trying
I don’t understand, my foams in my OG gen8 had great foams and was never a problem. Really like the bumper mod gonna do that on my Axe Edition cause don’t know if m putting a winch on it yet or not. I still haven’t downloaded the hobbywing app so mine is still in the stock configuration. Love the video great work and great RC products of course
I'm anxious to try the foam modification. While running mine in some water on a cold day at a comp the foams that had water in them through the breathing holes got very hard and inclines I could climb earlier got almost impossible. I would like to see a softer foam come out of the factory. It would also be nice if the bumper mods and body trimming were done before shipping the units. Thanks for the tips, I hope boiling the foams makes a difference, I like softer foams. If it doesn't work for me will there be a foam available from Redcat for purchase in the future?
Love the new axe maybe for a future release do a small pumpkin non portal axle with universals love how far the.company has come look forward to more new releases from redcat
Just a warning to everyone, tucking your rear bumper in too far will allow the lexan to scrape when attempting to clear hard obstacles. This will possibly tear the lexan. Make sure to keep the rear of the body safe from dragging by not tucking that rear bumper too far under!
If you're referring to the inner Tire rub of the front steering connection point that is not necessarily an issue nor will it affect the overall performance of the vehicle to the point of not being able to operate it. That is merely just a mounting tolerance and manufacturing variance between all the components comprised in the front. Some might touch that contact a little bit more than others and some might not touch at all.
so rc driver does yalls videos?? hes already got a successful gig in rc... HEY REDCAT let me get a job or become an ambassador. I guarantee i would be the most dedicated person you have working for you as it would be a dream of an opportunity for me. While I have nothing against Greg, he is definitely more basher focused and is way more knowledgeable about those things. As a good friend of Joe Collins (Exocaged RC) I not only have plenty of experience climbing on the rocks but also in competitions. knowing joe and being a part of the crawling scene in our area I get a chance to really stay on the edge with crawling info as well as have my finge ron the pulse of the crawling scene and what people are really looking for. Think its time i go ahead and kick off my crawling yt channel
Good afternoon Shane, Thank you for inquiring. At the moment we do not have a program in place to make said request possible. I do however encourage you to take advantage of our affiliate program. Check out the link attached. Thank you kindly for your time. redcatracing.goaffpro.com/

Very nice video Greg! The foam tip is great. Its nice to hear a tip I have never heard before! Im gonna have to try that for sure.
Great info! Just downloaded the app & switched the servo voltage; easy is good!
I boiled mine for 2 minutes, dried and boiled for 1 more minute and guess what, still rock hard in the cold!

Good pointer - this can happen.
Thanks for the heads up, Mat Phat.
I was about to tuck it in... glad I didn't do that.
Would be a real shame to mess up that body.
Good and easy moods!! 👌🏽
Cool! Thanks for the tips!
Ok so when I saved it as 7.4 volts, on my remote it says it's still at 5.45 v, is that normal? Or am I missing something
Great Tips 🙂

@@RedcatracingAZ I will contact the company. Thanks, have a great day.
What is this esc and motor?
Has anyone put a two speed transmission in their gen8 axe

It didn’t really make a difference for me on the foams. Had it in boiling water for 1 min
Thanks that's what I wanted to know b4 taking 25 screws out an in lol
He didnt show us the result and look same driving bbn in the end
I used my stock capra wheels
Will axle housing from trx4 for in gen8 axe?
if you swap the entire axle and portals - probably. JUST the housing - no.
How do you pair hw link app?
Try following the steps in the HW AXE ESC manual. www.hobbywing.com/products/enpdf/XERUNAXE.pdf
How to you connect truck to your app
