I’m so glad you are helping make the Gen8 work better. They should have upgraded this by now. Especially on the premium edition. I hate the panhard bar! Should have been 4 link from the start!
I just ordered a set from your link for my Gen 8 Scout. Thanks for your videos. Because of them I've got the front skid plate, now have these coming. Showing my Scout some love. Lol
Nice, good to know! CA glue, longer screws and blue Loctite has been my temporary fix. Bummed they didn't fix this on the Axe - very happy with everything else though.
I was going to buy one of these I'm so glad I changed my mind to the abisma sherpa , it was cheaper and has much better crawling ability with it more open wheel arches just not as good of a motor when crawling slow lacks the ability to keep going on inclines but still a very strong motor
Man, that makes a ton of sense. I’ve been wondering why my reefs triple 5 had some subpar steering for such a nice servo in my gen8. Too bad both links are out of stock right now. But I can’t believe how much it cleaned up the mushy stock steering in your before and after. Wild, and annoying I need shell out another $30 for a couple pieces of metal components, just to make the steering work correctly/100%.
Looks like SSD makes some with nice deep recesses. I have those on order. Great info and video though. Cant wait to get my Gen8 Axe... should be this week.
New subscriber here. Great video, I just acquired one of these so checking out easy mods. Scouts actually did come with Nissan 6 cyl turbo diesels from forklifts
I just ordered these and my Gen8 Scout II AXE hasn't even arrived yet, not from your link tho (coz it was unavailable) but amazon still had them for 270 SEK incl. shipping.
Nice Video, whats your thoughts on this vs the trx-4, it seems like nobody on RUclips with the exception of you & couple other people ever give the gen8 x any credit at all.. , I think its RC Review whos obsessed & I mean obsessed with trx4 & not even the better version he loves the sport without the 2 speed tranny & lock unlock diffs. I just don't get it?? I understand the bodys heavy but the gen 8 axe is very capable with way better features than half them other trucks!!
Today I found out that SSD makes aluminum link mounts for the Gen8 that are keyed so they don't twist, even if the screws are a bit loose. I have a set of fronts and rears on order now.
Thanks for finding this for us to fix those mounts. I've ordered mine just now. I'm exploring foam options also, I hadn't sealed the vent holes yet and went through some water on a cold day and they were like bricks inside the tires. I took the foams out, cleaned and dried them, then sealed the holes with some hot glue. I'm interested in what you might find on the foams.
Thanks for the info. I bought the SSD ones as they are fully captured. I am getting quite a bit of chassis twist on acceleration in the axe, did you manage to dial some of that out on yours?
The tires do make it look really incapable. Changed my foams and it change the Axe’ life. I changed to aluminum housings and link mounts to eliminate side shift in my OG. They need to come out with Aluminum housing for the Axe Edition.
They do, but they made the extra shock mounting point which makes not quite right. I have an axel housing I should send you for your old genny to put it up front and do a video of that mod bringing back the ole girl
Nice man (I went all aluminum after I ripped the plastic panhard mount out of the stock axle housing) On the axe edition, is there rubbing on the inner tire from the steering/drag link end similar to the v1 gen8?
Everybody having an issue with this go buy the SSD HD FRONT MOUNTS.. they have a deep recess on top and bottom cupping the axle tube. I switched from hot racing to SSD. way more beefy

How come with your innate predilection for modifying/improving these RCs along with the extremely corse nature of the rocks in your 'rock garden' do you not install axle/pumpkin and chassis skid plates on your crawlers? My "rock garden" is 99% natural stones and smooth river rocks and they ground through my TRX-4's pumpkins in only 6 months. Before my maiden drive with my new Capra, I constructed very effective, economical, and inconspicuous skid-plates for the pumpkins and axles out of the curved bottom edges of a gallon plastic container and mounted them with black zip-ties.
I just got my v2 and why would they use a bushing for the passenger side instead of a pivot. Just a bunch of slop and my truck tracks left and right horribly
Hey Jim, what is the big thing that is helping the drag brake so much? Is it the esc or motor. Also do you recommend this over an scx10? Thanks so much
Exocaged RC just meant the electronic component that you’re running that makes the drag brake so good. Is it the esc or the motor, or is it the axles and the truck itself, worm gears??
Hey bud what I really need help with. Is making a class 3 rig. I have my umg10 which will be my class 2. Well in my area it will be class 2. And asap I'm getting a tf2 to be my class1. But I need help with 3. What should I do and what should it run. Maybe we can collaborate on a build. Let me know brother. Would love to have the chance to work with ya.

loved your comments about Rey and Solo
That axe, pausing headlights at the sky! Awesome machine ! 👍👍 great video

I just ordered because they only had one left. I figure I mine as get them now. I love my gen8 axe

you said it my friend, my only gripe with my gen8 is adjusting the darn trim every 2 min! might have to try the hr mounts!
Looks like SSD makes some with nice deep recesses. I have those on order. Great info and video though. Cant wait to get my Gen8 Axe... should be this week.
I have those exact mounts on my Regular Gen 8. I took my custom mount off because of them. They are a nice piece!!
8:30 seconds in was no problem bro, nice driving, nice save.
Thank you so much for the great video. I wish you all the best in the New Year. Let's cheer up and make a good video next year!
I will stay with the brace for now, since it was free. Love the AXE with Han and Rey, looks like they stole Darth Vader's truck!
Treal makes brass ones that fit on the axle perfectly

I’m gonna be waving my 550 axe around for a few days at least after I get it in my genny
Ordering now via your links above. thanks for posting
The 2 screws on mine were loose from the factory. Took the bracket off and CA glued it back along with a dab of CA on each screw thread.
Thank you. I am going to order mine soon. Will use your links.
Great video. Got a used one, about six hours runtime. What grease could be used for the gearing around the Axe? Thanks!
Mine just showed up today and I LOVE IT!
How is it holding up?
Just what I was looking for! Thanks for doing this 👍🏽

simple fix, just boil water on the stove dump each foam in one at a time for a few seconds /minute remove let dry (There Fixed )
use plumbers putty. easy on, easy off
You know Han Solo likes a golden shower from time to time
Wildman georges rc Channel 😂
I ordered these in, thx for the info. I'm really diggin that front skid. Do you make those and if so how can I get one for my Redcat Gen 8 Axe? Thanks

Billy Moore III the same aluminum housings should bolt right in.

Exocaged RC I drive my old gen more than the Axe.
Billy Moore III I have the new version axle housings in my old Gen8. Even did a video on the install
You got aluminum?
Redcat’s aluminum aftermarket parts seemed to fix the axle shifting issue on the v1 gen8
Lacos 179 I put those on mine and still needed the additional brace.

great jump in slo mo! lol.. What size figures are those? I need to get a darth vader that size instead of the bigger one I tossed in mine.
Not really sure, I found them in a dollar store and they were cheap, I think they were around 5" tall though.

I’m bout to have a 550 axe for my old gen 8
Great info. Thanks!
Good suggestions and interesting video !
You think it’s worth it? Has good electronics and remote.
Yeah overall it’s a good buy
How are these link mounts working out for you? I’m thinking about grabbing some because it really takes a lot out of your steering

Douglas Elliott plastic slides better and the plates reduce clearance

I have another fix for cheap fix using a brace that can be made at home.
Does boiling the foams like redcat says make a difference? I want to leave stock tires alone until I can get a set for crawling..
no, no it doesn't, any gains are temporary go away as the foams dry out and cool down. Now that summer is cooking us the foams may be too soft lol
I gotta get that axe edition
The SSD brand have deeper recesses no chance of slippage
Michael Covington nice. I need to get some SSD stuff
So do those links fit the older Gen 8's as well? I am looking at building a PACK and I wanna take care of any problems while I'm building it...
Hi. Where can i get this upgrade? Thanks man
Where is the link mate to sort it,
I can't find it,!
Can you send it to me 👍
Kind regards

@@coolasrc its the axe 550 motor & esc combo working in tandem, you program it through your controller to whatever suits your needs.
Is the 3 link panhard less durable than a 4 link axle mounted steering system?
Got mine ordered from eba china / rcmart store ... amazon is sold out lol
Have you made any changes to the car?
Will this work on the original Gen 8? I have so much slop in my steering with a 25kg servo. thanks!
Yes

How much for a front Servo skid plate for my Jen 8 axe ??
Michael Covington I can do the cover, you’ll need the metal part.
My gen 8 Axe has front tire rub just like the standard gen 8. I thought it was supposed to be fixed? Anybody else getting tire rub?
Should have got brass for the front
Damn and I thought the panhard mount on the TRX platform was weak? this is just on a completely different league of crappy design and materials.
trx it is its garbage junk, buy a gen 8 axe leap years better than that heap
