Thanks for posting this. I just got the same servo and the difference is dramatic. I did put a little bend in the link as well. I can get up rocks I couldn't before because of the extra torque. Thanks!
Waite till you see the mods that I have put on mine. I also ordered a high torque servo the MG959. I'll be posting a video once I get everything in and installed. Great vid Steve.!!
😁 Cool, make sure to set your steering duel rate adjustments so the steering don't turn to far because if you don't it will cause the CVD drives to pop around and bind at full steering and can cause them to break... make it turn as much as possible so when your giving it some throttle at full turn it sounds smooth without any popping hard clicking sounds. this servo is much more powerful so it should steer much better on the rocks... also see my bump steer mod video ... use the stock servo steering horn and grind the raised lump off flat and then put the steering rod on and it will correct this models bad bump steer problem. Thanks for watching.
@@ShenRC great tips. I take it this servo does not require a BEC. I understand some servos do so that you get the proper voltage/amps they need. Or upgrade to an ESC that delivers more. Thanks, I'll start the mods soon.
@@Homeracingworld Hi you can add a BEC if you want I am running mine without it and it seems fine. I did add a glitch buster I made to help out with the power a bit but I think you will be fine with just plugging it in and running it if you experience any power outs to the servo you can always add a cheap $6.00 Bec.
👍 Thanks , It runs so much better now after doing the things I have done to it. You will like it it looks so nice the body is awesome looking and the wheels, It looks real nice out on the trail.
😁👍 Thanks bud, It has super steering now!! I like this rig it may not be on par with a TRX4 sport but tinkering with it making it much better than stock that's what I love to do.
😁👍 Thanks for the tip, I know about this already but I just never did it for some reason I think it's because my side metal chassis rails are getting so scuffed up already I am worried what would happen if I raised the sliders even higher up.. The spot I run has lots of rocks bunched up that hit into the trucks bottoms like crazy..who knows one day I may try it. did not even do it on my trx4 yet also 👍Thanks for watching.
Hi I ran it a lot you just got make sure you set the steering throw up properly you don't want it over steering making the CVD drives binding to much or it will blow em.
On! also, is the pump steer still there or did it correct itself?. let us know. if you don't know what I am talking about look at youtube (Redcat gan8 scout II - Free steering Mod). Thanks
That servo you have doesn't have metal gears. How durable do you think it will be over time? Are there other servos with metal gears that will give me that wide sweep of steering?
@@ShenRC Thank you! I just ordered it, and look forward to having a stronger servo that also cures that lack of steering range problem. I appreciate it. :)
@@LeftenantMalachi Your welcome..remember dial the steering out to the spot you want it to turn and don't make it turn to much or you can damage the cvd drive and stuff.
It's a great rig but the trx4 sport does a bit better. But the new V2 is out now and is better than my version 1 it has lots of upgrade parts on it..it still won't be as good off road as the trx4 sport but if your crawling you will like the gen 8 and if you like the body I say get the gen 8. Thanks for watching.
😁👍 Cool, remember to bend the front steering rod and also use the radios steering DR to dial some out because it turns it real far. Thank you for watching.
Great upgrade, however in some cases when you change out a servo you're suppose to adjust your end points on each side of the servo turns. Otherwise if your servo is over steering that's when you start stressing the servo and you start breaking stuff. Just a friendly tip.✌🏼😎
@@RcBasherBoi COOl! Yea these cheap RTR radios only have steering DR I turned that down to dial out some steering because it turns to much now but you do get much more steering over the stock set up now so that's great!
I use those 20kg China servos on all my slashes and crawlers too. I've never had one die on me yet .... So far. All the stock servos in my cars and trucks burnt out in a month or so. The traxxas ones did last longer than my crawler stock servos.

That's awesome thanks for the info. I ordered this same servo last week but was unsure about it, I believe you are the second person I've seen use this servo. Any videos up with the new Servo in use?
Hi bud, I tested it in the back yard on some rocks and it worked great! I only made one video showing my moded flat skid plate , I have a bunch of video left to post up of the gen 8 in stock for still.
dang what that servo did!! this is kinda scary but.... Gabriel Silvaz put WPL RTR tires in a bag wet with the fingernail polish remover (protein enriched stuff NOT straight acetone!) for 1/2 hour, followed by 6 hours bagged with WD-40, they came out 1/8" to 3/16" taller and a whole lot softer too! know it could be a HUGE mistake with some types of rubber, he was pretty brave-n-crazy, even with WPL RTR tires so undesirable and so inexpensive.
