    I would not consider those seven as problems but more of seven upgrades that you can do to make it better.
    As it sits the Redcat gen 8 is a well-rounded truck with good features for the price.

      Only real problem i found was the tie rod ends rubbing the tires. Its worse when your turning or the side walls flexing hard.. itll rub really good and cause it to hop cause its grabbing, letting go , grabbing .. etc. Thats the only issue i found. I love mine and i agree with you also.

      @@the-drifter-42 yeah buddy told me traxxas tires work. I guess all 1/10scale tires fit eachother ? I might be wrong. It all depends on the hex insise the tire. Then you gotta factor in if its gonna rub. ive thought about adding a tiny washer to act as a spacer because i like the tires that are on my truck now and im not about to take a guess on a 100$ set of tires online and see if they fit. but im worried the wheel will unscrew it self if i use a spacer. They do come loose just on there own. Plus theres no need to buy new tires .. i have tires on my truck that work just fine. i will soon cause these have quite the grove worn into them... you can find alllot of info on forums and such. But im nt gonna sign up to a website whos last post was 2017 just stupid. RUclips is here and its active . If i do get another set of tires and they fit ill let you know. Ill even make a video.

    I ♥️ mine! I cleared the front and front side windows, added an interior and driver, changed the tires and put new foam in originals for spares. Instead of cutting up transfer case bump I added a smooth skid plate with an angle on the tabs front and back, which seems to help quite alot. I will replace things as they break but so far so good. I have a factory Gen 8 (other than bigger tires) and have taken it out crawling a few times now. I also rolled it down a 80 foot cliff into boulders at the bottom last night. It was a sad sight to watch it just keep flipping and rolling. :( Body flew off one direction while the truck went another... :(
    But! It actually still drove home in one piece! :) Bent/broken bumpers, cracked lower edge of body in back, cracked an inner fender too. But hey! It drove home like nothing happened. Pretty dang tough I'd have to say.

  • @FUMan661

    I drive mine nice and slow with the stock transmitter, you just have to have a smooth trigger finger but I do agree it's touchy. So far no other problems, I heard the tires grip better if you reverse them (tread in other direction). This truck is loud too, but it doesn't bother me. I agree with someone else's comment that these aren't 7 problems necessarily but 7 good upgrades. Thanks for the video.

  • @goldenbrown9447
    @goldenbrown9447 4 года назад

    One more thing...I did completely sink it (by accident) in the lake and the the drive quit working for a day. I dried out the receiver overnight and it started working just fine. The receiver box is not waterproof. There are water access spots. I bought an ESS dual sound module and it makes wheeling so much more realistic and fun. I would definitely recommend the Scout Gen 8 for the money. I prefer a 2S Lipo over the 3S. For one reason it's not as jumpy and secondly the 2S 3200 is a bit heavier than the 2200 3S so the extra weight helps with some top- heaviness of the large body. I also added the spare tire mount and a metal luggage rack. That makes it heavier up top and out back but I like the realism. A little bit of lead counterweight up front puts the center of gravity towards the back which really helps it with front traction.

    The others.... Maybe I'm just an old Tinkerer, but I'm used to taking everything apart, either modding or improving. I find it FUN!! 😉
    It's great that you pointed these issues out, because some people aren't equipped to deal with them...
    For the rest of us, it's just another Rig.
    Yeah I REALLY want one, and No, I can't afford one. 😞 But hey... Maybe someday, someone who is tired of it, and don't want to deal with the problems - will GIVE it to me! 😳😆

    I just plugged mine in and fried one of the capacitors in the esc. I had it sitting for a while with the battery in it, but not pligged in. Plugged it in and zap... i took the foam out of the tires cause i had it in water once and wanted to dry them out. But i ran it all winter in the snow. Brought it inside, hosed it off in the shower and set it over the air vent to dry. (And used wd-40) Cant run it with out foam bc my tie rod ends already rub the tires. I have a 3 cell 5000mah battery from dxf and its very peppy. You gotta very careful ... snapped one cva in the front. And now im pissed cause the esc just took a shit on me for no reason. I dont think its the battery ... if it was the batttery it would have blown up.. the battery controll tab is on the lipo setting. Probably going go with a multivolt esc so i can turn it down. I am very easy on it ... since i snapped the cva. I am a RC rookie pretty much. (When it comes to the hobby grade) and read the manual actually ... i ordered the batteries on a whim and got lucky because they dont want you using anything over a 3 cell. Yeah this sucks... ive tinkered with the ride height a lil bit. If you do you gotta adjust the steering and things bind up on it so i put it back to the original ride hieght cause i dont want anything binding or premature wear on anything. The steering isnt the greatest and now that you mention the server does feel weak but its gotta move some big tires. Any reccamendations for a good esc ? One i can go 50% power 75% etc ...
    Took the cover off of the esc and theres quite abit of shit in it ... keep that in mind every one ! Maybe use an air duster can or an air compsressor and blow the stuff oit every once in a while. It wont even turn on.

      On the Gen8 Axe edition, the fixes are included now. On the normal Gen8, I believe it's the same as old.

    Thank you, I like your videos, but this one was very hard to see. You have a bunch of trucks that just need to find a home that is NOT on your desk. I’d rather you zoom in so we can actually see the truck when you point things out.
    Thanks for tour time. I appreciate learning about a truck I am interested in.

    🤔 I seen a review taken out the box and driven on the beach on top of rocks and it did great 👍🏼 . So with all the upgrades your talking about you might as well buy a traxxas cause it’ll cost 😬 just as much or more.🤯

    • @fire_nugit8549
      @fire_nugit8549 3 года назад

      i think it would still end up being cheaper than a traxxas, considering most people will upgrade the tx/rx and servo on those aswell

    Sounds like stuff made up just to make a video rather than actual problems, Only issue this machine has is weak front portal gears and redcats warranty dept is great for replacing them and they are pretty cheap if your truck is no longer under warranty.

    Weak gears, weak servo, bad tx/rx, bad tires, bad foam. Sounds like the best fix is just to buy something else with the money you'd spend on upgrades.
    Shame because it's cheaper than a gen7 pro here in Canada and Trx4s are all sold out.
