Regarding the concern about being vulnerable due being beholden to third-party parts, most mfrs. use a multi-vendor strategy, so if one vendor fails to deliver, they have a back-up. In some cases, mfrs. engage 3 vendors per part depending upon the part, and circumstances. This risk can be further offset by maintaining a healthy supply of parts on site whenever possible and affordable. This tactic is sometimes difficult for startups that are often short on cash, and surplus space. For context, I'm a supporter of Aptera.

Start with a resonably priced vehicle. What a concept. When all other EV manufacturers market to the rich, Aptera is upending that. Tucker was destroyed by the major car makers. It could happen to Aptera.

I would like to see the results of crash tests, over 20 years ago European car manufacturers (small ones don't exist anymore) produced cars with nylon plastic shells over an aluminum carbon skeleton, this not even passed all the crash tests it was also fixed to repair (no bent metal) the government prohibited the car, a car need to be out of metal (obesity when the big car manufacturers do it it's fine) but yes garages who was specialised on body work would lose repairs

I just watched this video for the third time. It is great. It provides lots and lots of information. Thank you Aptera for keeping us abreast of the changes you are making and what you are doing. LOVE IT!

Now Aptera has decided to try and sell the initial production vehicles twice - to the original reservation holders who paid money and were given production number of the vehicle they were entitled to in that agreement and now "investors" are being told they will get the first vehicles. Shows what sort of fraud this is - of course the real answer is they won't have any production vehicles to give to anyone .. the only thing Aptera produces videos. If they put half the effort into producing their 3 wheel motorcycles - they'd be making some but now they are talking 2024 - oh JUST 4 YEARS LATE .. oh APTERA = FRAUD.

Who will get the first production Aptera 3 wheel motorcycles? Will it be the Reservation holders who gave you money years ago and you gave a reservation with the production number of vehicle their reservation entitled them to - or these "investors" who put in money afterwards? I suppose the answer is - you won't produce any Aptera motocycles and so you won't deliver to either party right?

It's an old video but i got it in recommendation today so there's what i think why aptera might fail: - they need outside money, either from US government grants or investors. Before Tesla became a successful company, they were pretty close to going bankrupt and only Musk pumping his money saved it. A small company without someone to get it out of financial trouble, depending mostly on many small investors is a big risk -safety. We'll know more when an outside company starts testing those vehicles but even now there are serious issues that aptera raises -it's light so when hit with a bigger, heavier car, it WILL be at a disadvantage no matter how hard the material is; it is only suppose to have front airbags -and even that was not certain; as a three wheeler it's not as stable as a four wheeler in a side crash; it finally has bars in the side windows that effectively create blank spots for drivers that happen to have those bars in the line of sight - yes, the fact that's it's a two seater. Even if you only need a car for yourself or maybe one additional person, backseats offer additional space that can be used for baggage, pets, it just makes a car more versatile, more practical. Sure, there are sports cars that are two seaters but they are not advertised as a great option for daily commuting. The only good reason for a car for daily commuting to be a two seater would be a small size that would make it practical for crowded cities but aptera is not exactly a small vehicle, definitely not narrow. -the size - they cut themselves out of European and Australian market by creating a vehicle that is too big for a 3 wheeler to be registered there. The size also means it's not a good alternative for small urban cars that you can squeeze park anywhere or for big comfy cars that one would choose for longer trips - 3 wheels and light weight make it not a good option for colder climate and driving on snow, even when you assume they would make the road clearance better. Driving on bad quality roads and avoiding potholes will also be a bitch. - the reality of solar efficiency- a lot of people think that the solar panels on aptera would pretty much mean no (or barely no) need for charging if they don't drive more than 40 miles daily. I think reality will check it to not be exactly true. Not that i think solar is a bad idea in general but i think having solar on your roof, always properly directed and angled and an EV in a garage or shade that will keep the car from getting overheated (and then wasting energy for cooling it) is a more efficient combination. The way i see it aptera was created by enthusiasts that put the idea before practicality. As interesting as it is i mostly see two reasons that they might succeed -one is economy because the efficiency of the shape means money saving not just when buying it. Second reason is if it becomes a wanted toy 'car' to have beside a 'normal' car.

This car is perfect for Hawaii. I have been in the automotive business for 50 years. I live in Hawaii and my wife's large family lives in San Diego .I like to have a Aptera Dealer Ship in Hawaii. Hawaii is going to have a show room for a few Dealers in the closed Walgreen's store across from Walmart. I have built cars and rebuilt electric motors, service manager for car Dealers, and offered GM factory rep, for Buick. I'm also an inventor. I invented the BMX bicycle ( see me on youtube ) Randell Kim Panda BMX. , tools for ACE hardware, baby products, made an offer to buy The North Face etc. I have a product now that your CEO can sell and make money for Aptera. I lived in California for 50 years and the last 15 years in Piedmont Ca. then moved back to Hawaii.

What you looking at is the definition of function over form but's its such a work of art that its appealing. I'd choose this car over ANY engine propelled car.

@19:40 concerning salt getting into the motor, I did not find his response very compelling. From what I could make out (which is another concern) apparently his testing did not go into real world conditions enough to respond with a definitive answer. If this is a soft spot in the design, one would think extensive testing would be called for and I did not get that feeling from his response.

2 seater is only an issue if it costs as much as or more than a 4 seater. Most commuters drive alone anyway. So, at $26k base price, Aptera will sell well.

Aperta to go into production. I never thought they would fail, it is a no brainer if they get the pricing right and can manufacture it in China or highly automated in the US, or both. I think two seaters are needed and are a niche but a very good one if you can dominate it globally and be synonymous .....like google is for search. PS As a single person this is a no brainer since I can not afford a Tesla. So I would rather buy this than lease a Tesla or any other car....EV or ICE. ICE OEMs are dead men walking now. There is no category were an EV does not perform better and it is green.

I had hoped that Aptera would be in production by now but I understand how difficult it is to enter such a crowded market even if you have an unconventional product. I really hope that Aptera survives and I live long enough to buy one.

I ve heard many rumours about a third seat ... and about savety .. its a pingpongball .. one of the strongest shapes !!! So bwibg aerodynamic makes it strong and being light it wil absorb forces .. being crushed from both sides will be the hardest scenerio .. i m so looking forward to mine .. never ever have bought a new car .. !!

I live in a sunny place and work from home. The solar version would work great for me. It would never need to be charged.
