I did the same thing for my AP in attack, set him to support to improve the spacing in midfield then set him to dribble more to ensure he wasn't too static and not contributing forwards. He was playing next to a CM in support and DM in support (with hold position enabled) in a 4-3-3 winger formation. Early signs are good but I need to play a few more games to know whether it will work or not.

The problem with atributes, CA, PA and all that is that its very easy to misinterpret and end up underperforming or over performing without really understanding why. Its understanding that its key. Atributes per position are weighted and then you derive the mean sum after you apply the weight modifier. That in theory gives you the CA. All good so far. It doesnt tell you the consistency of the player as you perfectly put in this video, nor the potential to reach it (professionalism, adaptability, etc) not does it tell you the type of player that you have and if they will succeed in your tactic. We all have a memory of that one player that regularly overperforms all your other signings that should in theory outshine that one dude. This is why. A physical af cb will not play the same as a very technical, confortable with the ball but still good at defense (due to other reasons than physicality) cb. This is the nature of the beast we are dealing with here. Ofc at 160+ CA this will matter less and less because the players get so good It mostly dont matter anymore

I also think an important factor is that new strikers won't immediately start scoring, especially if they're new to the country or don't speak the language or whatever. They need time to gel, time to learn the language, time to adjust to the tactic etc. In my current save I have a striker who frustrated me with his lack of goals last year when I signed him, and now is scoring every other game on average just as I'd hoped

Thanks for the video about Defending. I have a question is how are you gonna defend when your players are tired at the end of the match ? Are you gonna pull the boys back like set a mid block and reduce the pressing intensity ? I usually concede a goal when the game is around 70 - 90. I am playing my team with 4-2-3-1 atm.

Wait. FM24 just has "Routines"? I usually do "Set Piece Delievery" in FM23 because it seems more efficient and it looks like 24 has removed the individual set piece training entirely. I like training with your team in mind and how you like to play. I like playing wide so Attack Wings training gets put in to raise their Crossing ratings, just to give an example. I tell them to stay on their feet and play zone defense (figured out how to implement that) and look for interceptions, so ground defense and disengaged defense (and aggressive or as I like to think of it "proactive" vs "read and react" defenders) make a lot of sense, etc. Good point there. (If you can't tell, I'm not well-versed in the game of European football, but I'm trying to learn both in/from FM and info about the irl game) You make an interesting point about the Match Practice session. I would imagine irl teams do a lot of XI on XI practices or similar where they try to do what the coaches were teaching them in a simulated game environment. So I was reluctant to take them out, but it yeah it could be pushing them too much, or getting them too beat up before a match. Also, that Thiago training rating. Dang 5.4. He clearly is going to dislike this video 😂

If you play twice a week you can avoid injuries putting intensity to automatic and "no pitch or gym" for all conditions but the last one, that will be kept as normal. This way all players who just played will not do physical work for one or two days after the game. I hate standard training schedule, I strongly suggest to do your own: you can spend two hours building them and use them forever. I use a very simple training schedule during the season, with only match preparations (all three), general physical, general tactical and two set piece routine per week

I only have enough instructions to fill my approach. I remember hearing a "rule" of having 5 or less instructions selected when I started playing FM 22 (currently playing 23 and might get 25), and I agree with knowing what your tactic is doing/wants to do and picking instructions (or even removing them) to address a specific issue you're having consistently. I have two tactics and the difference is more what positions I have. For example, my original is a typically arrange 5-3-2 (1 DM, 2 CM), but I found I have some more DM-capable players coming through my farm system so I created a 5-3-2 that has 1 CM and 2 DM instead, with roles adjust so the former MEZ-S is now a RPM-S and the other CM slides to the dead-center instead of the offset as part of a CM two/three. I really don't even go up or down in mentality - biggest change I usually do is whether or not work the ball into the box is on or not. And most of the time I leave it on because, ideally, playing "sideline-to-sideline" will stretch the defense horizontally and hopefully the mobility of my WB and CM-A will help stretch the defense vertically and finding holes in their zones to receive passes from the byline towards the spot or just behind the box the keeper occupies.

I find that balanced is still the best mentality if you want to keep a low maintance plug and play sort of tactic. changing it to attack or defend will change the way the team pass and progress, which could effect passing accuracy and possesion. For example, if you're playing standard tempo and you put an attacking mentality, theres a good chance your players will use a more direct passing approach as well as a higher tempo than usual.

One match that is quite memorable to me is when I play 4-4-1-1 against a hyper aggresive opponent and during the match I changed my TF/AM combo to TF/Treq. The opponent plays very aggresive gegenpressing and their transition is very dangerous. So I lower my defensive line and change AM-A to Treq. Then this happens: My TF receives a long ball from GK just a bit further from mid line and flick it on my Treq who is drifiting in the channel just behind the opposing DM. Since the opponents presses aggressively, one of their CD is occupied by my TF and my Treq make a run and take both their DM and the other CB to the side of penalty area. Then Treq slow down by cutting in to wait for TF to catch up then make a one two with him so that he is in better angle. Then my Treq scores. Most beautiful piece I've seen but never been able to actually replicate just due to FM and the nature of Treq. This happens in FM22.

Hey! I´ve been watchinmg your videos cause my sister gifted me FM24 for my birthday after a couple of years of not playing it because in my country its very expensive. I´ve always made my own tactic and started a save with Man Utd and did the usual business, but my tactic was not working at all. And there were a lot of new things, and reading the description didnt realley help and i was flabbergasted. Then i found your videos and everything started to make sense. I watched 4/5 hours of your videos and now my players are doing what i want, most of the time (fucking hate Sancho and Rashford is a bum, no passion), thanks to your videos and nice explaining! Thanks a lot Avgdad!

The issue (for me) with the trequartista is that he doesnt defend that much, but rather looks for a free space to roam to reiceve the ball one we gain it back. I need a wide playmaker that defend wide (atleast track the full back) and can sometimes shoot or run trough. The advance playmaker doesnt work cause he likes to play between the lines

a player with high teamwork and workrate might be what you need, that sort of guy does Rooney type stuff even when set to Treq sometimes

I'm still on FM23 but had to learn that agents aren't enemies like they were in 22. Still looking forward to see what the good relationships with agents actually is doing for me. Nothing seems different and their patience bars aren't going up (yet?)

In a age of fancy visuals, being overly cringey, doing everything there is for Views & Likes while explaining something very vaguely, this guy comes along and makes the most difficult seem as the most understandable easy thing there is. You Avgdad are a gem in this community. Thank you and I hope you are still doing videos. Instant subscribe !
