  • All the match highlights go against you? Work on your build-up play and develop the patterns you want to see by controlling your tempo, mentality, and player positions. We're using the IRL football meta of intricate build-up here, but the same principles apply for more direct play - have the right players playing the passes, and plenty of players in position to receive.

    Brilliant content,I’d say the best I have found. The fact you show how to play the game rather than doing OP content makes FM more enjoyable. I’ve watched all your vids which help to no end and have improved my own tactics 👍 cheers

    With lower tempo, you give more time in possession of the ball to the players, so I think would be good to use the team instruction “dribble less” to counter the tendency to dwell on the ball for too long. Your contents are very good thought and explained. Thank you.

    It helps for a lot more than getting attacking highlights. Build up doesn't apply only when you're starting from goal. The same setup you have for your build up will apply when recycling possession, so if you don't have it right, you will lose the ball a lot and fail to create chances from open play. You will keep the ball more and concede less, even when you're not a possession heavy team.
    A minor detail, but still relevant to add, the DLP in the video doesn't dictate build up only when he's making himself available and receives the ball. He will, as will other roles that do this, position in ways that enable progressing the ball upwards, so even when he doesn't touch the ball at all, he's still influencing the enemy pressing shape in ways that break it. The DLP in the setup used for the video could also go in center and do without the BPD. They both do the same thing, but since the DLP is all the way wide, the BPD has to step in on the right side.
    Anyone who's having trouble building up from the back and wants a simple setup, one BPD, any " normal" defender and a midfielder on defend duty is a functioning setup. The way build up works in the engine is someone has to take risk in defense to bring the ball out and someone has to cover. You don't need more than one role that handles risk taking, but you can still play multiple. Libero on Support(FM24), Advanced Playmaker on Support, Ball Playing Defender, DLP on Support, Regista work and maybe a few others I haven't bothered to test because I don't play Roaming Playmakers or Sweeper Keepers on Attack.
    For the DLP on Support it should be in the role's description that it states he will bring the ball out, but in general, it's not a thing that the game bothers explaining, yet it's critical to setting up any team. There should be an indicator when you pick the role that says more than just "takes more risks". The game loves not explaining the engine.

      Fair but 2 bpds and a hb is literally free possession stats. I always train one just because it’s fun to have 75% possession sometimes

    Recently (as in when i last played because exam season right now), ive been messing around with and finding success with Carrileros.
    While my specific tactic probably isnt the best (was messing around and wanted to change things up), i was using them with a back 3 (with a good Libero) + offensive wingbacks, 2 cartileros, a number 10 (AP or AM depending on specific plager) and 2 AFs. Id just won the treble on my 4th or 5th season with Frankfurt so by no means an underdog in my league matches.
    Lack of DMs was probably risky but my hope was the libero moving up would form a more traditional midfield diamond. The Carrileros seem to work well as they just kind of bind together all the shape changing jank, allowing for the creative players to go do their thing.

    How do I find a way to keep it safer in the buildup but once I get to the final 3rd, for my playmakers to be making more risky passes and such? Sometimes it feels like they’re taking unnecessary risks on the buildup, but being super stale once we get to the final 3rd

  • @hungotuan4431

    Build up is important! And when you do that, try to have two midfielders involved if possible

    My team has absolute no problem in building up, having 10+ shot and creating >1.5 xg per game. The problem is their conversion rate , averaging 11%, ranked 19th in the league

    Are there any of your videos that touch on how to use three at the back effectively? A lot of your tactics seem to be four at the back

    • @theavgdad
      @theavgdad  Месяц назад +2

      True, I do favour the 4 - but take a look at the two Valencia thumbnail vids I did? Used a back 3 there, and touched on how I moved to CB-Lib-CB from a WCB-CB-WCB because of the attacking shape and player quality. Will thinking about a dedicated 3-at-the-back vid though

    Tempo depends on a few things for me, whether the opposition press hard like gegen, whether you have high vision and passing and if you have some fast players.
    Low tempo is not key for me and with a positive mentality the team will want to control the ball anyway.
    My 2 cents.

    I have af/if right and left attack.mezala attack .i get like 36 shots with only 5 on target.
    If there is a video i missed on this subject please let me know.keep up the good work.
    Oh it does seem like my own players are getting in the way of a lot of my shots.

    • @theavgdad
      @theavgdad  Месяц назад +1

      The "fixing a striker who doesn't score" video could help, but it sounds like an ultra-attacking mentality issue. "work ball into box" could help as a TI to craft better opportunities, or adjusting either a couple of player mentalities down or the team mentality down. Lowering tempo might even do the trick - basically it sounds like your guys are taking snapshots and snatching at chances. Try one thing at a time and see what works - you wanna keep getting the ball up there but improve quality.

    Your tactics are very realistic compared to real football. You can manage the right level of intensity, which is very important if you keep in mind your squad has to play a whole long season. Very good.
