    I’m a seasoned FM player, I was looking for something to send to a friend of mine and your video popped out in my feed. I haven’t finished it yet but even for me it has been refreshing, I always like seeing other player’s approach to making their own tactics. Great vid!

    Hey, I just want to say thank you. I've played this game for over 1000 hours, and never once tried to create my own tactic; I always downloaded them from websites. However, this video motivated me to try creating my own tactic since I've already spent over 1000 hours and can't make my own. I like to play 343 and tried to copy Pep's 325 tactic with box midfielders, and it works wonders! I did just like you said, tweaking little by little, and keeping the tactic simple-it works wonders. I've watched many other FM videos, and yours is really helpful for beginners. So yeah, you just got one subscriber. I'll keep up with your latest videos. Thank you, and keep it up!

    Probably the best Beginner's Guide I've watched. The only thing you missed was width! As a bit of an old head, I still explain it to myself in terms of where the play and passing is focused, but I think these days it means your players positon themselves narrower/wider in buildup too.

    Mate, you got a like and won a subscriber with this. I would like to see more FM content from you if you're on with it. I hope this incentivates you to go on.
    Just a note to help, the resolution in game is too high, so the letters are too small. I have a normal/big screen and I can hardly see the names.
    Imagine if people are seeing the video on a laptop.
    If you're on with it, also get some kits, face packs and badges to give more immersion.
    Keep it going!

    *edited due to being wrong
    A small thing about choosing a forward for the tactic - AF can work with inside forwards, but he pushes too aggressively forward. The tactic will still be good, but many times he'll get too far forward before the Inside Forwards can get to him. Beware that any tactic that relies on wingers inverting inside and the fullbacks pushing up, or someone from central/defensive midfield arriving in the box, will work a lot better with forwards that don't push up as aggressively as the AF. DLF and Pressing Forward on attack are good for that type of setup. They push up a lot slower, or further away from center, when they have the ball. Different strikers have relevant subtleties to the way they attack space when they're set on attack duty.
    A confusing thing about how the engine behaves is that roles say "support" and "attack" sometimes refer to the way they behave on and off the ball when creating/moving to score. An Inside Forward on support is still expecting to be played in, but he's looking for a striker in space between the lines to take the ball, move with it and create a chance for him that way. An Inside Forward on attack will move the ball in himself using the space the more static forward is leaving for him. He will be the one taking initiative, yet all the same actions are being done, but the people doing them are now switched.
    An Inverted Winger is a creative player even on attack duty. He'll dribble the ball inside for his Poacher and try to find him between the defenders that way. Cause a bit of chaos, drag a CB away and then make the pass.

    Hi, I am not sure but your idea of "Prevent GK short distribution" does not match with mine and i'd like to get some more input from you.
    If i have fast aggressive Strikers that are supposed to win the ball in an early press, wouldn't I want the GK to play it short instead of forcing him to boot it long?
    Isn't that what "Prevent GK short distribution" does, take away the short options?

    • @theavgdad
      @theavgdad  9 месяцев назад +3

      Hey Robert! Well, Prevent short distribution will sit your strikers really high up and get them close to the CBs. You're daring the opponent to play short and basically man-marking high up the field. Some teams will play it short regardless of you preventing, and you get to have a go at them - other teams will boot it. You could absolutely not have the option selected, let them play short, and then trigger the press high up. Difference being that your strikers will start a bit further out and have more ground to cover. Both ways are totally legit and up to you, but I like Prevent because it challenges the defense to play a game of chicken... and sometimes they try, and lose! :)

      honestly, I have to admit that I play on comprehensive highlights if not full matches against select teams and often make micro tweaks, change a couple of player roles now and then, etc! So never going to get a 38+ game dataset out of a single rigid tactic and unchanging roles etc from me. The number of games I've won late on going with 1 at the back and shifting my other CD up to a target man...

    Hello avgdad, was wondering and have been for a while if your team shape has an effect on team instructions and visa versa. For example in your vid playing a 433 (with dm) should you have more compact out of possession instructions, like a high press plus a very high line or a mid block and a high line. That way your midfielders are closer to pressing the defence in their own half

    • @theavgdad
      @theavgdad  7 месяцев назад

      I think TIs become a tool you can use to supplement what you're trying to do with shape, yeah. So I wouldn't say it's needed with a balanced setup like a 433dm, but you can reinforce your strategy like that. I often play narrower with a standard 442 for instance, and compress like you suggested with a 4231dm

    If you're using Trent as inverted wing back then for Salah is best to use him as inverted winger and put stay wider instruction. But for me if you have Salah it's a shame to not use him as a IF on attack, Trent is great as wing back.

    Hey what great content, so many videos on this topic but you have to be one of the most clear and informative, I get bogged down with tactics and wonder why nothing works!
    I throw a tactic together holiday for the season and it's either good or bad
    However there is so much more context required
    I kinda had a eureka moment when you said if you are a lower expected team then a 4-1-4-1 is viable and likely to get better results meaning targets are achievable
    I'm doing a network save with Brighton and feeling frustrated that I can't play my usual go too 4-3-3 with the players I have
    People say this FM is easier when I find it much more difficult.
    Is it in my head.....?
    I try attacking with numbers I concede,
    I try balanced with staggered attacking roles I concede
    I try attacking fewer and keep it solid guess what I concede
    Just feels like all the research and everything that use to work no longer applies!
    IFBs killing me off maybe I see it all the time
    Anyways I came here looking to become unconfused.......
    Thanks for the content you deserve way more hits and I'm sure you will ❤

    • @theavgdad
      @theavgdad  7 месяцев назад +1

      One thing to add is that Brighton is WEIRD in fm24 currently. They've lost their top midfielders (who got rated amazingly based on last season) so they have a midfield that hasn't enjoyed the rating benefits of that good season last year, and players like Gross are underrated or have glaring weaknesses that are overemphasized in FM. Each save I start, Brighton struggle like mad and end up 15-17th without fail in the first season. Point being, I think you have a weaker squad FM-wise than irl so there's that huge added difficulty level for you

    • @footballmanagerraw
      @footballmanagerraw 7 месяцев назад

      @@theavgdad hey you absolute legend I have some feedback for you
      So I wrote all the important stuff you said down and came up with a tactic for Luton Town applying the following defensive mentality sightly higher tempo and low crosses to suit my striker
      I dropped the formation to a 4-2-1-3 with the following roles
      Wbsu cb CB wbsu
      A, A
      Cm At
      If su
      W su
      P
      And I added to my previous research that if a players passing vision or decisions were lower than 15 then less risky passing and shorter passing
      If my wbs crossing is less than 15 guess what cross less often
      But the biggest thing for me was the tempo and minimum team instructions
      I just played SPURS we bossed possession 57-43
      Passing completion of 94% with little Luton 2-2 great result
      If a player can't play like a champions League player take the licence away and they still pass like Barcelona
      So I have to credit you sir
      This is by far the most intelligent FM guide I've come across
      Love the content please keep them coming.

      essentially you're funnelling the opposition toward the inside or outside. I tend not to use these myself, but rule of thumb, trap toward where your good tacklers are. If you got Nigel De Jong or Mascherano sitting at DM, definitely trap inside

    Could you create a video on every TI
    Or explain the opposites for example you explain lower D-line and lower block but not pressing urgency on balanaced lower and much lower and when to use them
    I will see a game out in the last 10 mins (if winning)
    Low block
    Lower D-line
    Fbs and CBs all on NN with pressing less often and that kills highlights
    But id love to see a tactic example for a team like Luton and how you would manage that
    I often see high press, higher d line close down much more from 99% of creators and real world football isnt like that not even for liverpool 100% of the time ❤
