He mentioned about 11:00 minutes in that he doesn't try to compete for attention and Josh is exemplifying this so well. Josh is fully sat back, engaged, and just letting Sean go. Late night interviewers seemingly question to give themselves another platform to keep talking. These are just two dudes who understand what it means to just let someone talk

"Who's laughing now? I'm on Last Meals" -- hands down my favorite moment in this interview. Props to Sean, Josh, and everyone behind the camera. What an amazing interview!
Josh spitballing the stats and teammates names of Sean's baseball story is insanely impressive. These two have set the bar so high for interviewers and interviewing skills, man. Love both of them.
it was funny how the conversation went from Sean and Josh talking about knowing the moment an interviewer captivates their guest in a really emotional way then Josh immediately drove the conversation towards something that made Sean maybe the most emotional I've ever seen him on camera
I cried when he started talking about his mom. What a beautifully painful way to think and talk about a loved one who has passed. This is some great stuff from my top 2 favorite internet shows!!
I'm so glad I finally get to hear from SEAN!! It always feels like every interview he is a guest of, he either gets steamrolled by the interviewer, or falls into his roll of directing the conversation and asking questions. What a great soul!
Tbf thats pretty much his job exactly. If he started talking about himself in depth while interviewing that would probably make him not that great at it. The focus is supposed to stay on the interviewee thats the purpose of the interview.

At that time my opinion was Sean was the better interviewer (mainly due to more experience), but after this interview I'm not so sure anymore. By far, the best episode... not because of entertainment or celebrity, but because of the human connection established by two dudes who are sharing in their own mortality, sharing in love, sharing their experiences with loss and finality, and distracting us from our own inevitability, all the while celebrating and enjoying this existence... this was a beautiful watch. Hearing about Sean's mother passing away explains so much about his sentiment towards dying. He was forced to become intimate with death at a young age. The way he describes his mother's suffering during her treatment leads me to believe that her passing was a relief for her. As much as he misses her it must also have been comforting that her pain had stopped. To him death is natural and he greets it as an old friend.
I can't believe I'm 4 days late to this! I've watched Hot Ones since the first season and I'm still amazed at how far it's come. The questions about his family gave us the most vulnerable side of Sean I've ever seen. What a great interview, Josh!

Josh teaching Sean a fact about his dad was amazing. Timing on that was great too. Sean has to be one of the best interviewers and Josh just proved how he deserves a top spot as well.
Sean mentioned going to the same college as his mother, and it tugged my heartstrings. I can imagine a younger Sean walking the halls wondering what it looked like through his mother's eyes. I shed a few tears at that thought.
This is what I've been waiting for. The two best interviewers on the internet. You can tell Josh took a lot of inspiration on how to do interviews from Sean.

Dang Sean thank you for being vulnerable with us and sharing those stories about your mom and your dad after that experience. Your success is well deserved.
I love how they’re sort of interviewing each other in a way, because Sean just can’t can’t help but ask compelling questions throughout, and Josh always comes with his A game in the last meal episodes.
I've been saying for a year that this show is the next best things to hot ones and this is absolute proof. I've enjoyed Sean as a host but now I love him as a person. He understands his profession to the utmost, he has a relatively tragic/inspirational backstory that he has never put in front of other people's stories, and he is legit just a good person. This may be my favorite interview ever and it's just two guys having a nice conversation about death. Holy hell!
Interviewing the interviewer has got to be increadibly hard. Boy, did you guys pull it off! Josh was as gracious as Sean is on his show and the preparation for this was obviously through and well though out. While Josh like Sean gets the accolades, the team behind him deserves to take a bow!!! As others have said, time for Josh to do hot ones.
Josh is so good when talking about a parents death. Sean really was too in this moment. It's rare to come by, and as someone who also lost a parent, I always greatly appreciate it. Thanks guys
There is no more orthodox, pure version of an Illinois kid than Sean. He reeks of Chicagoland. You’ll never remove it from him no matter what. God bless him. Central Illinois salutes you, Sean 🫡
glad to see dad lore is true for everyone. Sean not knowing the accomplishments of his dad is hilarious. I learned my dad before he met my mom was a PGA tour amateur, a former club promoter in Dallas (i live in chicago), has gotten in SEVERAL bar fights and won (hes like 5'6", and drove a motorcycle for most of his 20s. And all of this was told to me by my relatives
I learned from my aunt that before my dad was a dad he was a bartender and he actually met my mom because she was at his bar with her boyfriend (at the time) and her boyfriend got too drunk and tried to hurt her but my dad stopped him and he kicked the guy out and made sure my mom was okay. No idea why my mom and dad never told me that story
Sean isn't just one of the best interviewers of our generation, he's one of the best period. The sheer volume of research coupled with a very polished conversational style of interview is unmatched by most.
Sean is definitely one of the most articulate speakers. It’s really wild how he’s able to engineer these perfect long sentences and execute them perfectly lol. Love me some Sean
Legit the best pairing ever! Sean is such a smart, educated, thoughtful interviewer…. and so is Josh (obviously) I have been waiting for this perfect collaboration 🫶🏼
Josh's ability to just name off these random facts and stats is absolutely outstanding. Either he's really good at memorizing stats or he's very good at saying them with enough confidence to persuade everyone that they are right and in either case I'm impressed
These interviews are absolutely brilliant, I'm not sure if it is Josh or the food or most likely a mixture of both but the guests always seem so relaxed and safe and they feel like they can open up. A lot of interviewers won't ask these kinds of questions as not to upset the guest but you can always tell how much they appreciate it. From the Becky Lynch interview when she got to speak about her Dad or with this one. You can tell how much Sean loved being able to speak about his Mother.
An amazing interviewer interviewing another amazing interviewer. Finally two of the best interviewers ever together at one table, We’ve been waiting for this moment!! Now like everyone has said it’s time for Josh to be on “Hot Ones.” 💯
You both seem like a couple of down to earth gentlemen, thoughtful, articulate, willing to put in the work to make an honest connection and it comes through in every moment. This was just fantastic. Thank you!
i didnt expect to get so emotional. watching two brilliant minds from two niche forms of entertainment come together and just be themselves.. i appreciate you josh and sean! for being as intelligent and equally entertaining as you guys are. watching a fellow illinoisian being as passionate as i am about chicago food hits the soul in a way only an illinoisian can understand. my favorite episode up to date!
I consider Hot Ones one of the best interview shows to ever exist, the depth that Sean brings is just absolutely phenomenal, and the wings just add the kick to the show with the celebs we know and love
This show has a way unlike any other to completely break me. Sean talking about his late mom and their last conversation before she passed really hit home and I hope he doesn't harbour any guilt as from experience even though the possibility of them passing could happen anytime given whatever circumstances you still never know when the last conversation will be. At the end where Josh is thanking Sean for this show even exisiting also got me pretty hard, and not just because obviously it's Josh's favorite show they make and he's very proud of it but because it's truly created a pocket of magic in the internet where grief can be openly talked about and it's truly amazing to see Josh's interview skills. I truly hope this show sky rockets in the way that Hot Ones has. Cheers.
The baseball question. It was really good to see Sean get hit with a “great question” moment of his own. Josh is killing it, great active listener just like Sean

I LITERALLY cried!!!! So well executed, REMARKABLE deep dives, and such a full circle moment🫶🏽
Josh is so good when talking about a parents death. Sean really was too in this moment. It's rare to come by, and as someone who also lost a parent, I always greatly appreciate it. Thanks guys
This quickly turned from an interview to two awesome guys just hanging out having lunch together…epic
Its two pro interviewers
There is no more orthodox, pure version of an Illinois kid than Sean. He reeks of Chicagoland. You’ll never remove it from him no matter what. God bless him. Central Illinois salutes you, Sean 🫡
hat nods from wisco for the culvers thrown in too. 🧀
@@blakenelson5073 gotta love the Midwest 😇❤️
glad to see dad lore is true for everyone.
Yes, his research into his guests is the best right now
@@spanishprisonerwhich interviewers would you consider the best then? im curious :)
@@ennuisolar Narduwar is insane as well ! But I just love Sean
Josh! You are one of the best interviewers of our generation too. So glad i found this series.
LOVE the Culver's shout out--as a Chicagoan it's the only place I stop to eat on road trips in the Midwest.
Baby Sean doing the news and weather is adorable and something I didn't know I needed in my life.
The dynamic of these two together is great. They should do more content together.
*As a Chicagoan born & raised, I simply would like to say Thank You Sean.*
I appreciate that he's not like most people from Chicago. Thank you sean
good god that wing bite at 38:45 was clean as hell, 10/10 technique
I feel like I read about this method somewhere once, but it escapes me. I wonder if Mythical has a video on this somewhere....
Honestly it was sexy as hell
Learned from Rhett and Link :)
Sean is definitely one of the most articulate speakers. It’s really wild how he’s able to engineer these perfect long sentences and execute them perfectly lol. Love me some Sean
Josh cheesin' when Sean says good question at the beginning made my day.
Legit the best pairing ever! Sean is such a smart, educated, thoughtful interviewer…. and so is Josh (obviously) I have been waiting for this perfect collaboration 🫶🏼
Josh always manages to get me to cry with how he gets guests to open up about extreme loss they’ve endured
Josh's ability to just name off these random facts and stats is absolutely outstanding. Either he's really good at memorizing stats or he's very good at saying them with enough confidence to persuade everyone that they are right and in either case I'm impressed
josh has an insane memory! he is a god at memorization and also does an insane amount of research beforehand - and remembers it all. what a talent.
43:11 brought actual tears to my eyes, Sean is such a nice person all around you just enjoy hearing him speak about anything.
Thank you!
Josh getting a "good question" from Sean "that's a good question" is amazing
i didnt expect to get so emotional. watching two brilliant minds from two niche forms of entertainment come together and just be themselves.. i appreciate you josh and sean! for being as intelligent and equally entertaining as you guys are. watching a fellow illinoisian being as passionate as i am about chicago food hits the soul in a way only an illinoisian can understand. my favorite episode up to date!
The two best interviewers on the internet. I could watch these two go back and forth for hours as a podcast.
Sean's mom asking where he is going to college part choked me up. That's such a real moment.
I've always wanted to see Sean BE interviewed by someone, and I was definitely not disappointed. Josh and Sean have amazing chemistry!
The fact that Josh gave Sean his own "'how did you know that" moment is youtube gold.
I consider Hot Ones one of the best interview shows to ever exist, the depth that Sean brings is just absolutely phenomenal, and the wings just add the kick to the show with the celebs we know and love
i love josh's presence as an interviewer! he's so engaging and empathetic without being cheesy!
Cheers.
Sean Evans is a real one 🙌 wonderful interviewer
The baseball question. It was really good to see Sean get hit with a “great question” moment of his own. Josh is killing it, great active listener just like Sean
