I love how Gordon just kept the conversation going and kept telling stories without Josh even having to say anything!! really shows you how down to earth he is.
When you get him off of the highly "scripted produced etc" American TV shows he's actually a really decent bloke, especially since he won all the stars and doesn't have that same pressure on him anymore, you can see it in Masterchef kids or the UK kitchen nightmares episodes like where he went to the Brighton Caribbean restaurant
One of the best things about Gordon is that he fully recognizes he can be an a-hole and is humble about it. Yeah, he can be incredibly toxic. He has had issues with cultural appropriation. He reacts defensively at first but then he listens. He's got a massive ego but he has managed to constrain it. Must have a good support system around him. Imperfect, sometimes despicable, overall very likable. He's a character
Josh is nowhere near as occasionally offensive as Gordon, but the mix of obnoxious and humble is also very endearing. It's like, the most kind and good-willed obnoxiousness
Its also his skill as a TV personality. That is something he learned and mastered after producing hundreds of shows and guest starring in hundreds more.
Yeah like at 21:40 he didn’t need a recipe for the Wellington, he just had to stare intensely at a picture of Gordon to know what’s at stake if he messes up, and the intuition guided him to a perfect result
Wow, Chef Ramsay is being really candid in this. It can't be easy talking about his early life, family, and all that so publicly. Only makes me respect him more.
I love how often Gordon says Josh's name throughout the interview. Acknowledging someone by name is always so respectful, and Gordon comes across so genuine as he answers questions by acknowledging the person interviewing him.
This is honestly such a sign of respect from Gordon. He has embraced the internet and hes going on youtube shows and social media. He is so much more vulnerable when he doesnt have a producer telling him to be a bastard and reminds us that we are complex human beings. Josh and the mythical kitchen crew this is seriously, a crowning achievement and i hope that your success continues!
Vulnerable? What are you talking about. This is not about being vulnerable, this is about being honest. If Gordon strikes you as a "vulnerable" person in this interview, you literally understand nothing about him.
Gordon recognizing the difference between the verbal abuse he experienced in his home vs the constructive critique working for Marco and applying that to his own professional and private life cannot be understated. I don't watch his shows but have massive respect for the guy.
Even on Hells Kitchen or Kitchen Nightmares, he never attacks people personally, only on the food and the quality thereof. He expects excellence because that's what he demands of himself.
Man, I think Gordon sorely needed this interview. He very rarely gets to talk to people who can remind him where he was not too long ago, and get to just have a conversation with a meal. Great episode Josh.
You can see that Gordon actually enjoyed being here for this interview. He totally appreciated Josh and Trevor's cooking without putting on. Chef to chef.
The fact that this man will do all of these crazy internet things and embrace the memes just goes to show that he’s a great guy. To be so world-famous, renowned and successful and still poke fun at yourself and do random RUclips videos is unheard of. And he’s simply just having fun and making people laugh. There are RUclipsrs with a fraction of the fame whose egos are massive in comparison and who could never do the same.
I hope your not as slow as your comment was…its a thing called an act, something people do to make themselves look better… your welcome, sad that ur mom never taught u that
I figured Tom Hanks was going to be where this show peaked, but god I was wrong, it just keeps going further. Incredible interview, Gordon is so soft spoken away from the TV empire he's built up. What a treat
@@68able2 The comment above is a total lie lol, he didn't kill anyone he hit a pothole and got thrown off his bike. Got some bruises but was otherwise okay. Just goes to show that a good helmet will protect your noggin.
This was an eye opening interview. I don't think many people actually know where Gordon came from. The chemistry between Josh and Gordon is so comforting. Amazing.
it legit feels like gordon was reminded of some of himself the way he was talking to josh, and the little nudges/subtle and not subtle guidance for him. I was kinda wondering if gordon was asking if he was out of restaurants forever for a reason
@MikeListon-tk8ir as someone who has been in the industry for 14 years and has worked at places where you're trained not to take tips, if someone is offering you a fatty tip, especially someone like Ramsey, you're not exactly going to refuse it. What are the managers going to do? Argue with Gordon f***ing Ramsey?
Can’t believe we’ve finally gotten to the ultimate guest for last meals, It genuinely never crossed my mind that they’d actually managed to get Gordon for this, very impressive.
Is it weird I teared up when Gordon gushed about the Wellington and Josh kindly admitted he wasn't the one to prepare it, that it was Trevor. So happy for you Trevor, that's gotta feel good nailing the recipe and feeding it back to the man the myth the legend. And I know it's an awkward parasocial relationship dynamic, but I am really happy for Josh getting to do this, and how far Mythical Kitchen has come. Props all around. Best episode of the series, and I'll be surprised if you can ever outdo this one (unless you revive Bourdain God just to hear that man talk again..... such passion. -sniff sniff-)
Hearing him compliment Trevor’s cooking literally made me tear up. What a frickin accomplishment. I can imagine the pride Trevor must have felt standing there watching that
It's not really parasocial showing that you are happy someone is succeeding. But I do agree with that sentiment. Josh isn't just a talented chef, but he's a chef that has some striking similarities to Gordon by the sound of it. Maybe it's just me being wishful, but I truly do see a world class chef in Josh, should he choose to pursue it in the future. I think even Gordon is proud of the mythical society team too, gave him a hug at the end and that's honestly quite rare for him in interviews.
it's really refreshing to see someone with money still understand and teach their own children the value of money. he's very down to earth and his children are no different
Geez. Not only does this show the depth of Gordon's character in a way that the public rarely gets to see but it also shows the absolute gift that Josh has as an interviewer.
Gordon's usually so much sweeter with kids and especially his kids. If you see the difference between Masterchef Junior and regular Masterchef. He is way more supportive, encouraging and has fun with the kids on the show.
What wasn't human/personable about Gordon Ramsay before? I don't expect you to know everything, but it takes half a minute to research he's just a chill dude.
Josh's face when Gordon says he could be a good chef, I will never forget it. I crave that feeling. Congratulations Josh! We're all proud of you. If you ever choose to switch to the restaurant scene, I'm sure it will be one of the world's best.
We've all been dreaming of and begging for a Mythical Kitchen restaurant for almost as long as we've doing the same for a Will It? Cookbook... We've gotten the latter, so let's hope the former will eventually happen, too! Maybe Lily's hiring was a strategic step in that direction... 🤔😁 But I hope he doesn't "switch", as it wouldn't be GMM without him. ♥️ Indeed, though, very proud of what he's been accomplishing! 🤘
@@aug8478 I think in Josh's eyes, he's a bit of an imposter, though. As he was a food critic previously, and hasn't had (to my knowledge) any culinary training. That's definitely not to say that in order to be a great cook, a great _Chef,_ REQUIRES one to be traditionally trained... Josh has the natural nack for it. I think Gordon meant in it a sense that if Josh were to pursue being one in a restaurant, he'd be great at it. Coming behind closed doors, which is definitely what he does at Mythical, is quite different from that of a line cook or master chef, serving the masses. _edit: removed errant "we've" from the start._
@@raymondparisza5094 Which I _don't think_ he has, outside of his own kitchen. (I could be wrong, though) That's the point I was trying to make. It's been all self taught. Which I think in most people's eyes, you're not able to refer to yourself as a professional Chef until it's been your profession. Now that I think about it further... I wonder if what Gordon really meant by Chef, was _Head_ Chef; the one who leads the whole kitchen. Because, arguably, that's close to what he's been doing with the Mythical Kitchen... except that it's a private kitchen, without the same stressor. Thus, the compliment is in Gordon telling him that he has what it takes to do this in a restaurant setting. At the end of the day, *_whatever_* intricacies Gordon meant by it... He was paying Josh an immense compliment, which is how most of us received it. 😊
this is the best episode in my opinion because gordan connects with food so much he connected moments in his life and made this interview super genuine and unique he really gave us his best here
It’s fascinating to hear someone on his level, talk about what kind of food they genuinely enjoy the most. He is a media personality, but is also genuinely one of the most talented and influential chef’s of the last 30 years
He’s one of the few that actually deserves the spotlight he gets. I think a lot of people just think of Hell’s Kitchen and don’t realize he’s hard on them as part of the show and to test them and isn’t like that in daily life - this was a great interview showing the real person behind the persona. ❤
@@geminihexx9858 Also with Hell's Kitchen, these chefs are top tier, best of the best right, so they really shouldn't be struggling with such a small, consistent menu

I can't tell you how proud I am of Trevor for making a beautiful Wellington for Ramsey. I'm sure that was nerve-wracking and to hear him say it was beautiful really just made me so proud for him.
Only Gordon can be the most disrespectful and yet most respectful person all at once I love it when he's screaming idiot restaurant owners' heads off but I also love it whenever he genuinely opens up about the struggles of cooking, work, family life, etc.
I feel a great sense of pride for where this channel has come to and how much Josh as grown it brand in such a positive way to the point where he can sit down and have a real down to earth conversation with one of the more renowned culinary professionals of our entire generation. I've never seen Gordon like this. Sincere, calm, enjoying what he loves. Best interview with him, you just let him talk and only guide the interview. Thank you
This just proved that Josh and Mythical Kitchen has gained so much respect on its own that they gained the respect of Gordon Ramsay to join it. I don't see Gordon doing many things with the public unless he is either gaining a lot of from it or genuinely likes what it is he is contributing to. And him doing this certainly shows he has nothing to gained except a good conversation with a fellow food chef
Mythical Kitchen and Gordon Ramsay have talked through social media for a couple of years now, so it’s not that unexpected, but it’s cool to see him on the show
They did a cute lil gameshow with Rhett, link, Josh and Gordon with Gordon being the host and the rest making sandwiches for him! It's really wholesome and fun to watch you should look it up! I think it was along the lines of idiot sandwich?
This is probably the best showing of Gordon on the internet, Josh showing he has some serious interview skills and the mythical kitchen team pulling it out the bag with some ridiculous cooking. Well done that was incredible!
What insane skill Josh showed just allowing Gordon to speak. You know deep down inside, Josh had to be Fan-girling in Gordon’s presence haha but boy was he prepared for that interview!!
I couldn’t believe that Gordon was bragging about how “unspoiled” and “normal” his kids are (he also clarified that by saying they’re even _“MORE than normal”_ 😂) when he admitted he gave each of them $200 hundred dollars _PER MONTH_ for allowance! And *not only that* - he explained that if they saved any of that money during the year, he would _MATCH IT_ by giving that matching to them for Christmas! Holy shite! How many people reading this got $200 a month for allowance money when they were kids??? 😂🤪

No music, fantastic food, incredibly introspective conversation, and extremely hard-hitting questions. This was a fantastic video, wow. Crazier yet to see this after Gordon’s recent accident around Father’s Day. I’m sure he told death to go f itself that day.
I bet Josh knowing his team has made absolutely amazing food adds so much to his own personal fulfillment. I love how candid this interview is. Glad to see this.
I love how Josh can juggle between serious and light hearted conversation and make genuine connections with each of the guests that’s been on. This was great.
From talking crap about Gordon to having him on Mythical Kitchen sharing his wisdom actually loving all the food you guys make. You've all really gone a long way and we're happy to be a part of that journey.
I love how Gordon’s dishes were mostly stuff people are familiar with, which just tells you that people have a lot more shared experiences than we notice. The more present you are with yourself, the better your life will be. This was a great interview, great to see Gordon as a person and not just a character.
One thing Gordon isn't is a snob, obviously he has the more and resources to make more fancy versions of food but if you watch a lot of his RUclips videos of him cooking its a lot of simple, easily accessible food that anyone can do (minus the truffle on the scrambled eggs 😂)

For how silly the mythical kitchen channel can be I absolutely love this show for being what it is. The interviews are so very good and interesting. The fact each and every guest just opens up and talk about all these different kind of topics so openly just tells me how great the crew is for putting this together and how great Josh is at hosting this show. I think this video was extremely good for Gordon, but I also think this was a perfect video for Josh himself. The fact that Josh is able to empathize and even share with some of Gordon’s experiences as a fellow chef and not just merely asking the deep questions brings so much joy to me. I hope this series keeps growing 😊
Props to Josh for powering through these really tough questions, I would hesitate so much to ask the guest some of the things in this interview, but it’s such a breath of fresh air and you can really see the authentic Gordon.
especially considering Gordon said he doesn't really like talking about/thinking about death. i'd also hesitate to ask some of the things Josh asked after that. and props to Gordon himself, too, for stepping outside of his comfort zone and talking openly about all of this. i never knew about his relationship with his father, what happened with his brother, his son who passed in the womb. i can imagine that stuff was hard to talk about for him.
Gordon talking about how we need to help culinary school graduates find jobs, while Josh is talking about his mentor purposely never picked culinary school graduates😂
this is unironically the greatest and realest interview I've ever seen with Gordon. I had so much respect for both men in this video before this and so much more now. Also my respect for the chefs who took on the challenge of making this many meals for THE Gordon Ramsay to eat is insane. Love this series to no end.
I love that, for all the countries in the world he has been to and with all the stunning food he has consumed, he chooses comfort foods from his childhood for his last meal.
I would love to have seen Trevor's reaction when Gordon complemented his beef welington, Trevor and Josh are so talented chefs, and seeing them be complemented by Gordon makes me so happy
This interview to me personally who grew up watching kitchen nightmares and being older than his children 🫠 I’ve never seen this side or knew this much about Ramsey and honestly now I can’t get enough of just how he explains and talks about things,
Really cool how you’re not afraid to ask the uncomfortable or touchy questions. Vulnerable moments with a man that’s understood to be the opposite is amazing to see, and I’m sure it was even crazier to experience! Such a good interview
This is what I love about the series. Its seeing these looked up celebrities and seeing them as they are; Humans, what are the things they're grateful for, How they lived etc etc.. Having this series talking about that while eating their preferred last meals to celebrate the life they lived is just astounding to me.
A couple of things I got from this whole video: -Gordon's roots and experiences making him into the legend that he is -his full, genuine respect to Marco -Josh becoming the 7th child -Trevor's wellington gaining Gordon's approval -deep fried Mars bars creator is a legend -Nobody messes with Gordon's mum. I am a huge Ramsay fan, and learned things about him today. Hats off MK. Hats off. Oh, and edit: I’d pay money to see a reaction from each person who cooked the dishes Gordon went off on. He had nothing but good things to say about the food. Extremely impressive.
I agree. I want to see Trevor's and the rest of the crews face as Gordon was eating the food. Their face must have went from terror to curiosity to utter surprise and finally relief. haha.
I would also love to see that! That’s all I kept thinking about the entire time. Also, how many practice runs did they do of each dish before he arrived 😊

Gordon recognizing the difference between the verbal abuse he experienced in his home vs the constructive critique working for Marco and applying that to his own professional and private life cannot be understated. I don't watch his shows but have massive respect for the guy.

Man, I think Gordon sorely needed this interview. He very rarely gets to talk to people who can remind him where he was not too long ago, and get to just have a conversation with a meal. Great episode Josh.
I thought it was great hearing Gordon talk about some of his early days being a young chef in the back of the resturant.

After all, Trevor is also wiiiickeed smart
I came to say the same thing. I was so happy for Trevor and I hope he feels so proud!

Gordon calling Josh his 7th kid because he constantly irritates him made me laugh but also warmed my heart 😭

(I could be wrong, though)
That's the point I was trying to make.

I may have squawked with glee and scared my cat when I saw the thumbnail😂
Well done to Josh for keeping it together. Internally he had to be geeking out SO hard. This is like when Weird Al was on GMM. Rhett seemed okay on that one, but you could see Link was barely holding back the fanboy.
As an asset bo he was not geeking out; maybe about seeing a goor cook
Hits different ones you find out that he almost died on Father's Day.
Mythical is mythical for many reasons, but Josh makes it even more special. Congratulations for getting Gordon Ramsey, always a fan of all mythical content.
What an honor to have Gordon on the show. AND for him to compliment your cooking. That would be the dream for any chef I’d think. Great episode!
"You'd make a great chef" What a compliment. But Josh, you are already a great chef-- the great chef of Mythical Kitchen. You do amazing work. I believe in you.
Agree!
Gordon says Chef, but he means Josh would be a great Captain of the cooking team.
Gordon Ramsay is so witty and quick-thinking. It's really a testament to how he's able to stay focused, work hard, and do what he does.
Josh is honestly the best at interviewing people, the way he sits and listens, his humbleness, and having the king there with him absolutely amazing I hope they made more content with him with Nicole, Trevor, V, and Lilly ❤
The self clapping like Jimmy Fake Fallon is annoying..
God damn. Josh did one hell of a job on this one. You can tell exactly how important this was to him. The research was on par. This was such a beautiful production. And I know Trevor HAS to be on cloud nine after hearing such compliments about his beef wellington. Masterpiece guys.
This was the perfect interview. Josh you are the perfect interviewer, you ask the hard questions but don’t pry, and provide such empathy and grace for every guest.
This was probably one of the top ten 40 minutes I've spent on the internet. Long way you have come brother from the silly cook I stumbled onto during lockdowns. You truly have a gift my friend, and I'm more than proud to share our name. Can't wait to see how you evolve in the coming years. All my best

And this interview right here shows just how impressed and proud of Josh Gordon really is. He wanted nothing more than to talk to him and really got into specifics of why they love cooking, living, and being more than you are.
