Another great vid. We as a community need tot this channel popular. It needs to be on par with the go to channels, this should be the first channel any new player goes to. Honestly, we are doing a disservice to the entire community until this gentleman is known by the masses! Brilliant work again my friend 🎉
Binged all your vids yesterday really resonated to how I like to play the game, it’s really got my mind working in a different waysand sprouted new ideas, love the detail and hope u continue with the uploads 🙏
Wide Target Forward was actually popularized by Mandzukic at Juve. They’d play goal kicks out to him on the left but he worked much harder on defense than Higuain and Dybala and later CR7 so they fit him in on the left.
I discovered this video series today and this is so well explained. I used to struggle with all these player roles and PI's so it was hard for me to create well-operating synergies on the pitch. Thanks to your videos, it should be easier now. Keep up the good work. :) Greetings from Germany.
Awesome videos. Eagerly waiting for more, it would be awesome if you would talk about pairings, like kind of roles work well when using 2 MC's or maybe trio of DM+ 2 CM's... Cheers !
You explained winger and full-back combinations very good but I think you should have included cm and am roles combinations with wide players. I hope it will be on the midfielder part.
Great detailed video! We need more stuff like this. Though I must say from the title I thought you were going to talk about the Wide Midfielder role. It's a role I'm intrigued by but don't know much about
It's a good way to make a customized role! By default, especially with an overlapping fullback or wingback, it should play pretty similar to a David Beckham kinda role
The issue (for me) with the trequartista is that he doesnt defend that much, but rather looks for a free space to roam to reiceve the ball one we gain it back. I need a wide playmaker that defend wide (atleast track the full back) and can sometimes shoot or run trough. The advance playmaker doesnt work cause he likes to play between the lines
I use a Treq as RW in Football Manager but i want to build my team around THAT player, can you make a video with the best roles to complement the role of Treq (mine has 16 Teamwork and 15 work rate and with both cuting inside and also with hold the ball as instructions)...
hey, thanks for the comment! I'll have a think about this, sure! One tip right off the bat though, make sure the treq has at least one player pushing the Dline back (poacher or AF for example) so he has space as well as someone to hit. A couple of other players making attack-duty runs from midfield or fullback is also really good to have
@@theavgdad Thanks for your suggestion, I will build my tactic with your suggestions, waiting for the video about the tactic buolt around the Treq as RW
I was wondering, is it possible to use wide target man with short passing as a playmaker without necessity of taking risks? For example a guy who isn't tall but is strong and good on the ball, but not as creative as a playmaker.
I would say so, yeah. Short passing should help your guys feed him to feet instead of head (and player traits in that vein will help). If he does actually have the strength and first touch, along with vision and passing to some extent, he should be good!
Wingers and Wingbacks don't get in each other's way too much. They just combine counterintuitively when in a pair. Because a Wingback is coded to play primarily alone, you pick him based on whoever your 10 is, not on the other Winger. A Winger on support works with a Wingback on support. They will run almost side by side with the Winger coming inside the halfspace. It leaves you even more vulnerable on the wings, but they push up so aggressively in possession that the only thing stopping you from firing crosses unopposed is the offside rule. The aggressive 2 vs 1 is too much for any Fullback to handle. Personally, I prefer combining ball carriers with passers as they compliment each other better. The AI seems to prefer letting your overlapping player take the unchallenged cross most of the time. Still, it's best to avoid thinking you'll maximize XG if you never cross. It's the threat of the cross that stretches play. Space and time is everything and width gives you both. I see a lot of players with wide setups that don't provide width. Setting the formation's width to Wide is not THAT. Every formation wants to use all of the pitch. They just do it in different ways based on the abilities of the players they have. When Pep inverts Fullbacks his Wingers are not alone. His Midfielders provide the support on the wings instead. Something always has to give. Also, there's no general need to specify what kind of cross you want. The type of cross you get is based on your roles and formation. Telling your Wingers on support to fire low crosses will put you in situations where a whipped cross is better and the pass gets blocked easily. If you really want low crosses, play wide players that attack the byline. Wingers on attack will put themselves in positions that call for low crosses about 80% of the time. One on support has too many defenders ahead of him to send a straight diagonal ball through the center and an attacking Winger is too often too far ahead to bend it whipped, besides how much harder it is to whip a cross when you're running at your top speed and might even be clear past your own strikers.
Hi… I’m using a 442 but with 2 DMs on Support duties and a LM & RM but with my LB and RB on wingback attack duties… pls I need advice on what role to give to my LM and RM that’ll complement the wingbacks who attack and still create chances for the team.. at the moment I’m thinking wide midfielders on support duties… I’m using an AF and DLF ST pairing up front too… & would it be possible to make the Left & Right midfielders on the flanks move like an Inside forward? using any other role asides the inverted winger?
you're on the right track for sure, inverted winger would be the basic option but wide midfielder is what I would do. Then you can use the PIs to customize them, get them to come narrow, cut inside with ball, free role, and things like that. You can also use the overlap TIs to encourage the effect even more, but be wary on that one cause the WM/IW will hold up the ball now and then. Replicating an actual inside forward would need the attack duty, run with ball, cross less, and definitely no overlap TI - you could make it work on the side of the DLF.
I ahave a RW who is equally good at playmaking as he is at goalscoring, I have him on IF(s) Should i move him to treq for the combo role? with cut inside PI
definitely try that, especially if he's the star player! Else I would have said IFs sounds exactly right since it makes risky passes but also looks to score
Guys... Based on my experience, winger, IW or Inside Forwards is not the main crosser.. FB and WB is the real crosser... but if you need, crosser with final third role, try AM-Supp... Instead making them as the real number 10, try to instruct them to go further forward, run wide OR go further forward and stay wide.. it will trigger them to low cross more than shooting.. and remember to pass it shorter to every role back or near on your striker... so, your striker is no more "shadow" striker.. Winger, IW and Inside Forward roles is ruin by Gegenpress tactic.. They are still awesome, but you need sacrifice your real striker.. If you insist to make your winger as the main crosser than it will be weird to see their play... Instruct go further forward, run wide, cross more often.. Sometime they just stop to wait WB or FB come to release the cross... or if they are cross into the box it will be sad for low crossing attribute.. so, if you need more low cross with logic length, more through ball for your striker, try AM-Supp for wider play (Never forget to pass it shorter)...

absolutely, I want to do as much as possible on that with strikers and midfielders!
Great content mate, i am enjoying and learning so much with your videos, so well explained, everything makes sense. Keep going!
Glad you like them! :)

For sure, that's why I'm holding onto midfielders for now, they interact with everyone else so much

Great stuff man! Keep it going. Thanks for your vids

Would one of the cuts inside wingers be neutered by a mezzala, if so what role should I use around those types of wingers?

a player with high teamwork and workrate might be what you need, that sort of guy does Rooney type stuff even when set to Treq sometimes
