I occupy a middle ground, guided by the science, which shows that reactions to experiences at the time and in retrospect vary from negative to positive and are determined by circumstances (the nature of the interpersonal relationship, whether any manipulation, coercion or force was involved, etc.). I take seriously the notion of sociogenic harm, which may be one possible reason why a positive reaction at the time could morph into a negative reaction in retrospect. Nonetheless, it's possible to raise questions like this in a constructive, informed manner. There's no place for the kind of trolling you've faced.

If I was naughty as a child, I would get punished, and the punishment was complete emotional distance. At 8 you can't tell anyone, because if it's wrong (and as you say, you know you're supposed to keep it a secret, so it must be wrong) and you're not really sure because abusers are damn good at manipulating what you think.
