I had a friend abused by her family and she said she thought it was normal and it felt good at times. She was 2 when it started until a teen. It was wrong of the adults plain and simple. A child’s brain is not developed enough to stand up for themselves.

Thank you for your courage Jeremy Indika -- I believed my abuser's threats until I was 50 years old. Why? My abusers remained frozen at the same age as when they were abusing me. After a complete mental breakdown at 50 years old, a flashback pushed me over the edge; I thought I was going to die, so I told of what happened. My abusers were a Monsignor, a Priest, and a Parishioner, and I feared all of them, but today, I stand MIGHTY with my words and have successfully sued the Catholic Church.

I occupy a middle ground, guided by the science, which shows that reactions to experiences at the time and in retrospect vary from negative to positive and are determined by circumstances (the nature of the interpersonal relationship, whether any manipulation, coercion or force was involved, etc.). I take seriously the notion of sociogenic harm, which may be one possible reason why a positive reaction at the time could morph into a negative reaction in retrospect. Nonetheless, it's possible to raise questions like this in a constructive, informed manner. There's no place for the kind of trolling you've faced.
I wonder how peole who have no understanding or interest in this topic and apparently no compassion for anyone come across your videos…I genuinely cannot believe how naive and uneducated so many people are

23:24 Defamation is a civil offence rather than a criminal offence, so you can’t go to prison for it. However, if he’s _identifiable_ (and that doesn’t necessarily mean showing his face), then he can sue you for a life-changing amount of money.
11:59 It's worth pointing out that there is a huge variety of opinion in the pro-choice camp. Some are in favour of abolishing the AoC, but even then they're not advocating a free-for-all and tend to argue that existing laws that protect adults will be no less applicable to children, perhaps with some additional safeguards built in. Others are in favour of lowering the threshold.
A very interesting read is Matthew Waites' 2005 book on the AoC. A crude summary would be that the AoC was initially introduced as a means of protecting a commodity (the commodity of female virginity), came to be a means of controlling sexual expression more generally, was raised in the 19th century as a knee-jerk reaction to scandal (Maiden Tribute of Modern Babylon) and without scientific basis, still had nothing to do with consent as late as the 1950s, when judges were still prone to throwing out cases of sexual assault where the female victim hadn't put up sustained physical resistance, and only came to be about consent in the last few decades of the 20th century, with the actual science on consent not beginning in earnest until the 1990s. To be alert to this history is to recognise that there is room for reasonable questions, and indeed one finds these reasonable questions being asked by a wide array of scholars in academia, from Waites to Stephen Angelides.
20:11 I am freaked out by the new Trolls movie..it starts with a pink troll with an older man’s voice standing bare naked where you see it’s bum…I was appalled…why would we want children to be comfortable with a man voice and a naked bum together…people don’t seem concerned but even these little things contribute to lack of seriousness. I see other kids movies with embarrassment of underwear getting ripped off and hiding behind something like a piece of newspaper…others don’t seem to agree with me on how that’s a slippery slope and being safe rather than sorry is where humanity needs to be about this topic

If I was naughty as a child, I would get punished, and the punishment was complete emotional distance. At 8 you can't tell anyone, because if it's wrong (and as you say, you know you're supposed to keep it a secret, so it must be wrong) and you're not really sure because abusers are damn good at manipulating what you think. So obviously at 8 you get it twisted and don't tell anyone. CHILDREN CAN'T CONSENT..... Do the trolls not understand why we have an agent of CONSENT, and it is not 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15?? I think some people forget they were ever a child, and how a child's brain perceives things. Thankfully their emotionally immature and vile remarks have made your videos more likely to pop up. #silverlining. By the way, anyone who blames a child for being SA'd, is a complete 'See you next tuesday'..... xx

Peer-reviewed science (Alderson studies in the 1990s and 2000s) says that children are capable of informed consent, so reverse-engineering an arbitrarily selected legal threshold won't cut the mustard.

Just because some science isn't right doesn't give the lay community carte blanche to cast doubt on any science that runs counter to culturally sanctioned ipse dixits and to promote the latter to the status of inviolable truth. The scientific method is still infinitely preferable to the uncritical and occasionally capitalised claims of random people on the Internet.
