is the panel you used in the bios whitelist? if not how did you handle it?
Is battery 2 the internal or the external battery?
An absolutely fantastic review. Excellent video quality and narrated walkthrough. I am going back and forth between this and a straight Grande Date. I love a GMT and that second dial is just lovely and so functional. Its a significant jump in price point but I think this one will really be the better choice. Thank you for the excellent content.
Thinkpad T490 i5-8350u, -100mV core / cache.....more then that keep hang & crash! + battery saver always on...should be enough
I just installed a replacement Jiazuia batterry into my T480 and it saying the battery is critical and needs to be replaced.
is there a way to polish the keycaps?
Where is the WinPowerPlans config located at 9:29?, for some reason even that i didnt turned on it changed the power plans (they disappeared) and the clocks applied even when I didn't pressed the Ok button, lol. Btw amazing videos, im gonna keep testing but i thing is a bad time for me because the weathe had a really bad drop and it affects the idle tems i normally had.
Can you give details of the brand, size and key of the ssd you installed?
Does anybody know why Lenovo uses a grey wire for the main antenna and a black wire for the aux? Considering you’re BIOS limited to intel Wi-Fi cards and there the colors are flipped. I’ve always thought it odd.
RAM is discontinued now.
what about compatibility? is that gonna work with sp10?
Website says it's backwards compatible down to the Surface Pro 8.
I can't connect the antenna cables to the chip. Do you have any advice on how to do this?

I'm falling in love with this watch. But, I'm not going to spend that much money on a Sellita movement. Bring the price down, make it a 10bar and I'd own that watch.
Your watch reviews are truly some of the most useful/comprehensive ones, with real notes and not just the marketing spiel and such. It would be nice to see you become a dedicated watch reviewer. All the best in the New Year!
Thank you for watching and for the kind words, and happy new year! Regular watch reviews would be cool, though I'm only able to offer real notes because I've lived with the watches I feature - often for years, given that I almost never liquidate them. This unfortunately limits the variety of watches I can show on the channel, but it's definitely something to think about!
Super helpful
Hi,thank you for the video, when I tried to install the drivers got this,,This software package can not be installed on your system".Any idea what can I do?I have a Lenovo T440s,Windows 10 22H2,64 bit,8GB ram
Nice video. I saw another video that said DO NOT disable the internal battery in the BIOS, but it didn't say why. Any ideas? What happens if you do this swap without deactivating the battery first?
This is how you don't apply thermal paste ! This applicator is not for a tiny Intel i5 U model. Testing your CPU for a temp "bump-down" at a speedshift value of 192 is telling me that you don't quite understand how TS works.
If I want to upgrade my 256 GB SSD to 1 TB, do I need the SSD heatsink kit ???
@@levinste2750 yes it would still help keep thermals in check.
@@ChezDoesStuff I ordered the Corsair MP600 Mini ( TLC, 2 TB, R2 Version) I wonder if the life battery will be affected, and the performance ( faster ) And I ordered the heatsink, too. Thank you so much
Could you please tell me which screw is the default one for the SSD? I replaced the SSD but the screw head is damaged. Thank you in advance
For everyone info The t480 is taking the m.2 nvme ssd not the solid state drive
Is there a way to find sealed box of T480 nowadays?
Thanks! I never thought of only undoing keyboard screws. Nice time saver.
What model screwdriver you use?
Works in thinkpad x280?
Great video you should do a video of building the max specs possible for this machine!
I have tried this in dell 5310 but the SSD doesn’t show whatsoever. Any suggestions?
Where do i get the News trackpad?
I already have the large blue one, which one do you like better? 😜
@@Makta972 the large blue one, after I put a rose gold bezel on. 😁
@ChezDoesStuff 😳 Do you have a vid on that? I love my blue one, it's so versatile but the Adlc looks good too. Maybe my next watch.
@Makta972 the earliest I can do a vid on that is mid-late next year, unfortunately. I left it across the Pacific. 😞 It was a pretty straightforward job.
Would i be able to use that memory to boot linux mint?
@@dleon1990 never tried, but I don't see why not, given that folks have been able to boot windows from it.
@ChezDoesStuff Update on the dual boot using the secondary SSD. I was able to install Linux mint mate on it and it's working great :). I actually used your video to install that secondary SSD. :)
Thank you @ChezDoesStuff for doing stuff ... nice clear instructions for not just WHAT to do, but WHY. You've definitely earned a like AND a subscribe =)
@@MichaelMossmanNZ thanks!
thanks for this very easy to follow guide. My wifi would disappear before with no real consistency and my bluetooth connection would always cut off. Got it replaced and my connections are really good and stable now.
@@beepboop8446 great to hear!
Great Guide, what kind of Innolux panel did you use? Was it the Innolux N140HCG-GQ2? I would like to use that Panel for a better batterylife but I have difficulties finding screens with mounting brackets. Should they be bought separately, if so how should they be glued or taped on the screen?
sorry, hate to be that guy because this is a very useful tutorial vid and you did an amazing thorough job but mV is millivolts, not microvolts
Hello, thank you for your video. I'm a bit confused now. You say that you should make sure that there is only one notch on the SSD, but you are installing an SSD with two notches and, strangely enough, it works. Which one should I buy? Perhaps you know of a model that will definitely work. If so, I would be very grateful for a tip!
@@ilovealbundy good question. It's more of make sure there's a notch on that side of the SSD! The spec to get that is called PCIe 3x2. Make sure you don't get a SATA one.
@@ChezDoesStuff Thank you for the fast answer!
@ilovealbundy you're welcome!
Thanks for this. My keyboard kept sliding up so there was a gap at the bottom....once I tightened the 2 screws issue is resolved! 👍
Can you install intel Wigig module on this T480?
Where to get that blue backlit keyboard?
THe keyboard has a big problem...... In the future ( Very soon) doesn¨t work, The problem is the wired inside the magnetic conect cut and lost the connection. The solution viodeos of youtube don´t show the real solution. I see in this new product that fold a the same place but (altought working with bluetooh conecction).....Hw could be possible to know if the problem will happen again
I much prefer the shapes and sizes of the galbee and carree. Much more classy and timeless
Agree with you there. True classics.
Hi I have t480s and I did disable the internal battery it doesn't have external battery. After the ram upgrade my laptop doesn’t turn on blinking white and pink light at charging port. It tires to start I see white lights on keyboard then it goes back to that again and doesn’t turn on. Do you know what could be the problem?
Hi i meed display cable for t580 where can i find it please i meed help thx
Thank you for the video. I also plan on upgrading the 512 GB drive in my SP 11 5G as it's way too small for my needs. But after doing some research it seems the SSD upgrade on an SP11 is more complicated than just swapping the SSD on a regular laptop as the SP11 is very picky about SSDs. Hopefully the SP600 Mini will work fine. Found the same items on Amazon Germany (to avoid customs fees. Can't use your links, sorry), will likely order soon. Though since I already have some data on the device, I will try to clone the drive using a Linux machine instead of reinstalling from recovery. My usual method of cloning is to install the new drive on the target system, put the old one in an USB external case and clone it onto the new one using a Linux live environment running from USB on the target. But I'll have to resort to cloning using two M.2 cases instead as there's still no bootable Linux on SP11. Heck even Hyper-V is a mess on ARM64...
Keep us posted with your progress!
@@ChezDoesStuff Upgrade done. Thank you for the tutorial and the heatsink kit suggestion. If anyone decides to go the cloning route, it is important to note that you need to de-activate BitLocker (aka. Device encryption) first, otherwise you won't be able to resize the Windows partition, only create a new partition. Also, the charging cable is absolutely necessary after the swap even if your device was fully charged beforehand. It will not power on without the cable after SSD swap. I used mostly Linux tools (except for the partition resize step) for the clone because I prefer them when working with disk images. I'm sure there are Windows tools available which would work for this. Likely my partitioning tool which I used for the final resize would work for cloning if you had two M.2 cases. Now the process itself. I only used one M.2 case. First, I put the original WD SN740 512 GB SSD in an M.2 case and did two copies of it into my NAS using the Linux' "dd" tool, compared their hashes to make sure the data is consistent. The I inserted the MP600 MINI into the case instead of the original SSD and used the same "dd" tool to write the image onto the new SSD. After writing, I used the "parted" tool to fix the GPT table size. Then I connected the M.2 case to my Windows machine and, using a Windows partitioning tool (Paragon HDM 15), I moved the recovery partition to the end of the drive and resized the Windows partition to fill the free space. Installed the new SSD with the heatsink applied into the Surface, plugged in the charger and it booted right up as if nothing has happened, except now I have 1.5 TB of free space !
@@povilasstaniulis9484 thanks for sharing! Are you on Linux most of the time? How is it?
@@ChezDoesStuff Not sure what do you mean by "Are you on Linux". I do run Linux on my homelab servers and frequently use Linux for work-related tasks. Majority of my Linux use is in terminal. But I do use Linux on desktop sometimes as well, and I could very well use Linux as my main OS. In fact, I wouldn't mind having it on SP11, as ARM64 platform support is far more mature on Linux than on Windows. Sadly, no one has made a device tree for SP11, which is required for Linux support. There are device trees for other systems though, including some newer surfaces.
Thanks for replying! I've been Linux-curious and was wondering how it runs on SP11. The handy SSD door makes swapping OS drives (and avoiding dealing with dual boot) rather convenient. Your comment on the underdeveloped device tree suggests that I should wait a bit before trying.
so whats the use of having such high ram if the cpu isnt that great? in what use cases is having large amounts of ram but a mid ranged laptop cpu needed?
Thanks for the video. Where can I get such an SSD? Are there 1 or 2 Tb ssd?
That pen is absolutely tribble.
This thing in this laptop made me a bit angry, first I bought a nvme drive with m key (I've forgot there is m key and b key) - ofc it did not work. I've returned it and bought a b+m key sata ssd only to learn later that T480 does not support sata in m.2 slot, it has to be nvme with b key. I'm a pretty tech savvy computer guy with many years of experience but this is the first time I've run into something like this... Also holy crap 2242 nvme's with b key are so rare nowdays, took me like an hour to find one (wanted to avoid aliexpress but that turned out to be the only choice).
