    If youre struggling to line up the new touchpad I found holding down the keyboard mouse buttons with one hand and letting the touchpad rest just over them gives you a perfect fit without snagging the buttons. It also fixed an issue I had where the right touchpad click needed a lot of force to actuate.

    I have a query, I've installed the tracpad, serial number adequate according to the specs in the video, feels great, tracking, touch and gestures work fine, however the built in clicker function is absent. Is this normal for the swap or perhaps a driver issue, or even a fault with the hardware potentially? I'm running a linux system (nixos). Tbh, if this is never resoved it wouldn't mean much to me, but it would be nice if it worked.

    Why do you take out the external battery when you are disabling the internal battery? I thought the sudden powerloss would damage it somehow? Wouldn't it be better to keep the external, then disable the internal, shutdown and then take out the external battery and check for leftover current?

      It's honestly just how I've always done it (with no negative effects).

    Thanks for sharing do you still think that serial number part is very important ? Just curious cos I’ve been reading you can any 01LX660/661/662 and the only official Lenovo one I can find is a 662 with a different serial number. Thank you!

      Several folks in the Thinkpad subreddit reported having issues with Windows whenever they installed a different part number. This is the reason why I pointed out the part number that worked for me. Linux doesn't have any of the issues, however.
      You can try the part you found and see if it works. It'll be best to purchase from a vendor that allows returns.

    If the trackpoint isn't working on my T480, does that require a whole new keyboard to repair?

    • @ChezDoesStuff
      @ChezDoesStuff  5 месяцев назад

      That would be the easiest and potentially the cheapest solution, as the trackpoint isn't conveniently separable from the keyboard.

      @@ChezDoesStuff Thanks for the advice, where do you recommend to buy replacement parts? eBay seems to have lots of sellers, but I haven't bought many thinkpad parts before.

    Does P/N: SM10P36008___ you noted in the video, does it work well with gesture for t470 in windows 10/11? thanks.

    I'm planning to do the same upgrade. But can you please confirm if it is really a 'glass' trackpad? It looks like the same material as the original one.

    • @ChezDoesStuff
      @ChezDoesStuff  Год назад

      Yes, it feels like a Macbook's and not plasticky at all. Do watch out for the correct part number to buy (shown in the video) to avoid driver issues.

      @ChezDoesStuff, I've been searching for a spare part with the exact part number shown in your video, but haven't had any luck so far. By any chance, did you save the link to the product's purchase page?

    Hello, do you have a current source for the 36008 part number? Many of the listings online say they will give one randomly or are out of stock.

    • @ChezDoesStuff

      "Youp Store" in AliExpress seems to ship out 36008s and 36009s and has good reviews on their listing. I purchased from DZ World in the past, but it seems like they no longer offer the correct part as well.
