Thanks for this. I watched a couple of other T480 battery replacement videos and thought this was the clearest. I just replaced the internal battery in mine following these instructions, and everything went great (except that my clumsy fingers kept dropping the itsy-bitsy screws when fastening the new battery down). The new internal battery is charging now. Thanks again!
Brilliant vidoes that Lenovo should've done themselves. Thanks! Maybe you know if the Thunderbolt connector on the left side can be used for connecting external storage?
@@ChezDoesStuff Yes, but only 1 is Thunderbolt compabitle, from manufacturer documentation. Although that does not mean every laptop supports full thunderbolt, as such being cut short of full Thunderbolt utillization of the thunderbolt protocol. I wouldn't be surprised if it only worked for graphics and power, u see. But if you say it has full thunderbolt 3 compatibility, actually. Then I guess I can finally get out my big drive and hook it up to my laptop.
@@krimke881 sorry I misunderstood. If you're referring to data transfer with the Thunderbolt protocol specifically, I haven't had the chance to test that, unfortunately.
if the internal battery is dead can you skip the process for disabling the internal battery in Setup? not sure how you could do it anyway without the external battery in place
Disabling the battery it's just for security purposes overall, since even with a broken battery, can supply power to the other components. Probably it ain't nothing going to happen. but it's better to make sure.
my t480 after a lonnng period, off.. both batteries dosent show to charge at all.. i tried uninstalling the drivers, holding the back button for 30 seconds, but nothing.. any ideas ?
Hello, my T480 at times stops charging when it's on, to fix this I have to uninstall the ac charger drivers which are then reinstalled automatically as soon as I switch the laptop on again, this fixes the issue for a while until I have to do that again , do you know what might be causing this?
@@ChezDoesStuff sorry, just seen the reply, I couldn't find how to update the usb c thunderbolt drivers however the problem didn't occur anymore, hope it stays this way..thanks
You can check the Lenovo website for this or use the Lenovo Vantage software to automate your update. I still recommend updating it even if the problem has disappeared for now, since the USB-C ports on some T480/T580's permanently stop functioning when left un-updated for too long from a certain version/release date.
@@ChezDoesStuff Unfortuantely my Lenovo Vantange app drains the least wear battery first, which is my internal LOL. Also, my internal can't hold a charge so I am going to change it and the external :) Thanks for this video

Glad it all worked out!
Thanks for sharing, I was able to successfully swap my internal T480 laptop battery quickly and without issues
Great! If you remove the external battery, will your laptop shut down?
Yes Nice Video.. We creates the shorts video for the same
Simple and easy to follow. Great video.

Glad you liked the videos! I've done that. Both ports are capable of data transfer.

Sorry dude, does the internal battery use 3 cells or 6 cells? 🙏
3 cells, if I remember correctly.

Did you charge them in the time off?
@@Sinivaal actually not, they are off like almost a year, I think they are probably dead.. I’m gonna have to buy new ones

So if i take out my external battery, the laptop will still work with thr internal battery?
That is correct and is the premise of Lenovo's PowerBridge.

Does it apply to Lenovo a485 AMD Ryzen 5 Pro with 64 GB RAM?
I don't have one of those, unfortunately, so I can't say for sure. Sorry
