Watched this review with concerns regarding your assessment style. I am a small time collector and I can only afford watches that are valued up to $500. Comparing this San Martin to a watch like a Rolex is ridiculous and hardly fair. Most of us can't afford to spend 10 to 20,000$ on a watch. Looking down on those of us who buy watches that look like more expensive watches is snobby and disingenuous . Suggesting that watchmakers come up with original designs is also unrealistic. I don't remember Rolex or even Omega coming up with a completely original design in the last 20 years. Complaining that these so-called fake watches lose 20 or 40 seconds per day is also a joke. Most of us don't have the machine that measures such a thing and also if we have a bit of a collection we only wear the watch for a day or two or maybe a long weekend and then we change to another watch in our collection not even noticing the piece may have lost a minute or two. Is youre schedule actually that tight? I regularly watch and subscribe to Jody, Teddy, Marc, Andrew and others who purchase, recommend and wear the watches you look down upon. They also own the Black Bays and Seamasters. I'd put my 1973 Accutron or Citizen Blue Angels Eco-Drive AT up against any 20,000$ watch for accuracy any day. Also, the NH35 is bullet proof. It would cost me 80$ to replace if it fails--which it won't. How much is a calbre 3135? Out.

I have advanced in the other direction… my wife and I just retired at 55 and 55 respectively and money is not a barrier for me. I started with the big boys… Rolex, 1 Patek, Omega and as I became more able to afford what I want, I have realized I want these Seiko’s. I still love and wear my GMT Master II, my Seamaster and my Doxa’s but Seiko impresses me more… it’s very hard to make a really good $500 watch and I too just got the Pepsi turtle and for the money, as well as the ssk003, these watches are incredible. I will add a Submariner to my collection but the bulk of my future buys will be these Seiko’s!

This has to be the worst watch review that I've ever encountered. A guy driving around with car background noise and maybe 5% of the video is the actual watch. Talks bullshit with no backup for it. Awful from all angles, first and last time I watch this.

You got a bad one… San Martins are renowned for their great finishing - better than higher end brands I am 65 and been a collector for years. I have a huge watch collection, and I can personally tell you that TUDOR finishing is awful for the price. I have 6 Tudors in my collection and 3 of them have alignment problems - 2 of them straight poor bezel alignment! I would say, hand on heart that the finishing on the couple of San Martins I have is at least equal to if not better quality than my Tudors ! The NH35 is a workhorse of a Seiko movement, reliable and stable and perfect for the San Martins to keep the price low .

Hmmm. I have five SMs, after a long series (i am 69) of Seikos, Citizens, Tissots and even a Rado. Firstly, the NH3x movements are bottom-tier, for sure, and to be avoided; both the accuracy and crown comments -- not unknown for NH3x -- are inconsistent with the ETA 2824-clones in my watches. All mine are COSC-accurate in use. But you pay for that: mine are maybe $70 more than the NH3x models. The dial and case quality are all clearly exceeding Swiss models < $2k (or more), but "no" they aren't better than top tier watches. But i *like* fully functional classic designs; you can call them clones. I will smile. -- gary ray

You look had a pretty bad chance. I bought a San Martin last month. After a month the San Martin only have 1 minute ahead atomic time. Also alignment of the bezel is perfect. It cannot compet with luxurious watchmakers of course but for the money, regarding that price range is hard to beat San Martin imo.

I couldn't find where to buy a new bezel insert, as my old one ( 7 years old now) is scraped, scratched. Anny suggestion?

My San Martin 62MAS 'homage' is my most accurate watch at just +5s per day. My £1k+ watches by major brands, not so much.

The Cartier Santos is an iconic beauty but I would not buy one. Why? Because the Santos is very scratch prone, especially on the high polished bezel. Cartier knows about this flaw and refuses to fix it, meanwhile, RUclipsrs keep making excuses for the flawed and subpar metal casing. Silver colored watches, such as stainless steel and titanium, are the defacto metal of choice. There are stainless steels that prone to scratches and stainless steels that are not prone to scratches, as well as coatings too. Why, in 2024, aren't manufacturers making "scratch-proof" watches? There are PVD coatings and nomenclatures like 316L steel, super titanium, TinSkin 3.0, and platinum encasements. A company as profitable and well funded as Cartier has no excuse for making watches that are scratch prone. Invest a little R&D and fix this problem. Having the bezel on a Cartier Santos scratched by something as innocuous as the cuff of your shirt is unforgivable.It's not just a Cartier problem, but most luxury watchmakers don't put in the effort to ensure their watches are "scratch-proof" or as scratch resistant as possible. It's a shame. For this reason alone I would never buy a Cartier Santos. Profits above all. So what are the most scratch resistant metals? Tegiment steel and UltraHex titanium.

Please help and put both the Tudor GMT next to a Rolex GMT, both watches shown from the side, so we can see the difference in their thickness. Most Tudor GMT owners complain is that it is too thick. The Rolex GMT is 12mm thick, while the Tudor GMT is 14.6mm. So the Tudor GMT is 2.6mm thicker than a Rolex GMT. Thanks. This company is dishonest and does not put care into their product. I received the watch, wound it up, and tested it. It was losing 3 hours a day. The GMT hand was also not lined up properly with the indices. I wrote the company directly and talked with Glenn Yu. He said it must have been damaged in transit, and to return it, after taking many pictures. I did just that. They said they would pay return shipping. the cheapest I could find was UPS. After receiving the watch, SAN MARTIN claimed that their were scratches on the bracelet, and they were only refunding 80%. I sent pictures of the watch which proved that there were NO SCRATCHES. They said the return shipping was too expensive. So, I spent $426 plus $96 (tax and duties) plus $166 in return shipping. But my refund is only $341. That's $340 gone...and no watch. Nothing. If that's the experience you want, go ahead and try doing business with them.
