    Initially wanted to buy the SSK001K1 black dial as it’s the one that caught my attention and I’ve been obsessed with it ever since. Went to the AD and compared it with the SSK003K1 blueberry version. The salesperson together with my gf recommended the blue one instead and after much thought and comparison, I took the blue SSK003K1. Fell in love with it more and more everyday and it’s my go to piece ever since!

    I have this exact watch and it really does look spectacular. Only thing I don’t love is that the bezel doesn’t click and moves sometimes without me wanting it to. I hear people complain about the bracelet, but it looks nice and it’s lightweight. I love the way the color (dial and bezel) appears to go from blue to deep blue to black depending on the light and angle. I paid retail which is probably too much, but I wanted to buy it from a reputable seller so I paid a premium. Overall I love this watch! Great video thx!

    A good competitor is the Citizen Promaster GMT from Japan for $400.00. I just bought both the Citizen, which is Titanium, and am waiting for my Seiko (Yellow dial) to arrive. My first watch was a Seiko Quartz Diver. It was my only watch for about twenty years until its untimely death at the hands of a crappy Jeweler. The case leaked after a battery change and the insides started to corrode. I loved that watch. I replaced it last year with an automatic version. Its not my watch but its close. Nice review.

    • @ET-cj8jo
      @ET-cj8jo 18 дней назад

      In Japan the Promaster GMT is twice the price and does not have a rotating bezel. It does, though, have a coated sapphire glass and zero chance of a misaligned dial. You get what you pay for. The lack of a rotating bezel makes it much less useful.

    I have advanced in the other direction… my wife and I just retired at 55 and 55 respectively and money is not a barrier for me. I started with the big boys… Rolex, 1 Patek, Omega and as I became more able to afford what I want, I have realized I want these Seiko’s. I still love and wear my GMT Master II, my Seamaster and my Doxa’s but Seiko impresses me more… it’s very hard to make a really good $500 watch and I too just got the Pepsi turtle and for the money, as well as the ssk003, these watches are incredible. I will add a Submariner to my collection but the bulk of my future buys will be these Seiko’s!

I know I would still wear cheaper watches. At least you aren’t worried about getting robbed and potentially hurt or killed. Actor Tyrese Gibson talked about wearing cheaper jewelry despite being able to buy those hundred thousand chains because it gives him peace of mind. I’d be more that happy with a 2k Longines

    Interesting. I just bought an SSK003 GMT. I have had a Rolex GMT Master 2 for many years and really like it, in particular because of the GMT function as I travel quite frequently. There are of course places where I just should not wear it. This was highlighted on one trip when I was in Johannesburg and a local friend could not believe I was wearing a Rolex in a city where there are apparently gangs devoted to stealing them! So, for some trips I now leave the Rolex GMT at home. I tried various Swatches but I missed the GMT functionality and I have never really been a fan of quartz. Then I saw this - reasonable price, good brand, nice looks, GMT functionality - everything I wanted!

    • @burbinghard

      6.5-6.75 inches. Better is completely subjective. At this price point the main movements are the Seiko (or their NH35) movement, and the Miyota 9075 (true GMT). Sellita 330 is usually a little more, while Timex Q GMTs are half the price. Just based on specs I would say a watch like the San Martin SN0136, Squale or Steinhart GMT are better made, but not as original in their designs. Glycine has some original designed GMT options as well.

      I have only owned two of the same watch twice. The Tudor BB58 and two Seiko Alpinists. I sold one of the BB58s and I will probably sell one of the Seiko Alpinists later this year. If you can see them both in person it should make it easier to decide. Otherwise I would go with the one you equally like that is different than the rest of your collection. Not just the Seiko GMT, the other watches are cool too. A small opinion, please stop buying TUDOR. It's definitely a great watch but we all know it's Rolex's sub brand.
    So what's happening is, assume there's 100 people and 50 of them have the money to buy a Rolex. But Rolex wants to be exclusive so they sell it to only 20 people. Manufacturing isn't a problem but they simply wanna keep it exclusive as we know more demand and low supply is directly proportional to the brand's value. And since Rolex wants the money anyway they've released Tudor. Now the other 30 people can buy Tudor and since the price is low another 20 people from the remaining 50 who can't afford, now buys a Tudor which directly brings the money that Rolex would've lost without Tudor.
    So please understand that a Tudor is never a Rolex even though it's a sub brand of Rolex. Either get a Rolex or just buy anything where Rolex isn't included. They want to be exclusive, let them be exclusive. Once they're pulled back down to earth they'll open up for all.

    Great video, however I believe he passed over the importance that this GMT is NOT a true traveller's GMT. I had been waiting a year for this watch to come out and I bought it at a discount at Macy's for 25% about two weeks ago. I also own a Rolex GMT Master II which has what is called a Traveller's GMT function. I was looking for a less expensive, beater GMT watch for traveling. The true Traveller's GMT function works by keeping the GMT hand as your home time and the hour and minutes hands keep your local, travel destination or non-home time. That way you can adjust the hour hand to match your local (travel destination, non-home) time without adjusting the minute hand, only adjusting the hour hand. A very useful function when traveling. I was playing with the Seiko GMT function and it was not working as I expected compared to my Rolex GMT Master II. The kind of GMT function which the Seiko SSK003 has is what some call an Office GMT function. I did not realize that when I bought it and returned because it did not have a Traveller's GMT type function. You won't find the Traveller's GMT function in less expensive watches because it is a more complicated function to manufacture.
