As a airline pilot who travels to Europe. I love the SSK003 for it's 3 time zones. No messing with the lug. Only thing one has to do is use the bezel. I set the watch to my home base time. The GMT to the 24 hours marks on the watch face. The cities I travel to on the bezel. Super easy. It's a true Pilot's watch. 20-40X cheaper. Funny how these type of watches are made for pilots. However, the reviews seldom mention this fact and how well they function as a pilots watch.
@@currentaf8455 show me a digital watch that shows 3 time zones at a glance and time zone change with a simple turn or push of a button? I like to get one.
Not every watch thieving criminal can spell Rolex. Nor will they stop you and ask to check the brand before they rip it from your arm. The only silver lining is, that. It won't cost £thousands to replace each time.
I had several GMT Master timepieces, older and newest generations. And I always have many different types of Seiko timepieces in my collection. As a Captain, navigating from one time zone to the other continuously, using and operating Seiko timepieces is always very easy. And having 3 time zones is a great advantage. And once those movements are regulated well you can enjoy reliable and very consistent time telling for many years without needing very expensive servicing at certain service centers. So, my vote goes for the Seiko without a single second hesitation.
Great review. Lots of value for the money with the SSK. Rolex is roughly 40x more expensive than the SSK. Is the Rolex 40x better than the Seiko? No way.
I do prefer Seiko. This GMT got inspiration from Rolex, but there is own characteristics from the Classic SKX. San Martin is only a clone from China, zero design.
That's why this kind of comparison is interesting. Two watch companies with totally different strategies, scale and products. For many, seiko is a good enough watch given its function, price and availability. Rolex is good but majority of it is about artificial short supply, price speculation, hype and snobs.

I have the “Japanese Batgirl” and I love it. To compare these two watches is, as we say in Germany, comparing apples with oranges. In my opinion, the price difference and the materials used alone make it impossible to compare them. But no matter, for the price you get a great watch from Seiko, which comes with a deviation of -3 to +5 seconds as measured by me. And now it's also available in white. I have to control myself, don't I? I think so. But it's such a beautiful watch. Well, Christmas is coming soon.
I own both. My Seiko is the orange dial. As far as I am concerned, the Rolex is over priced and not a good utility watch. You can go anywhere with the Seiko. You're comparing apples to oranges. If someone is considering the Rolex, they're not even thinking of the Seiko. The only reason to consider the Seiko is because the Rolex is out of your range.
Never owned a GMT. So, the GMT hand should be set to your home city time, and when you’re traveling to another time zone, the hour and minutes hands should be at the time of the city you’re in?
Actually I like the Seiko much better...and a ton of $$$$ savings.. ALSO a very notable difference is that the Seiko GMT hand is underneath the hour hand as it should other than the Rolex GMT hand which would cover the hour hand at times.
Not really, one can easily compare Orient Bambino to Patek Calatrava and actually the difference will be less than the Seiko vs Rolex visual difference here, doesn't mean that one "wins". They are different purposes, Seiko is a ford focus, Rolex is Porsche and Patek is McLaren, one does not drive to supermarket in a McLaren but that doesn't mean that the Ford "wins".
I'm very new here. I don't really know the first thing about anything. I totally get the rolex brand, but how good is the seiko? She is just as beautiful as the rolex. Is the glass on the seiko as good as the sapphire on the rolex?
The glass on this specific Seiko is hardlex, which is a type of mineral crystal which is more prone to scratches, unlike the sapphire on the Rolex. Some Seiko watches do come with a sapphire crystal, however, not this one. The Seiko is a fantastic watch and a great affordable option.
@welcomewrist thank you for the response. So I'm going to complicate this further. Tag Heur make so nice watches. But when I tried one on I found it didn't feel like a 2000 option. Is that me not knowing quality when I feel it?

the lug end of the rolex will feel like a sharp edge, on my 7.25 inch wrist was actually pinchy
Why nobody talk about the seiko can have 3 time zone due to the inner bezel?
interesting comparision...got one watch against one that is around 1-2% of the cost of the other.
Excellent review
Rolex is just overpriced
Yes, for people that can’t afford one.
Fr fr get a tudor
@@EscapePlan97no literally they're overpriced. They don't do anything a tudor can't
@@miztahfrawg agree
@@EscapePlan97the thing is I can but I don’t feel like waiting 1 year to spend 15k on a Wimbledon dial. I can pick up 3-4 bad ass watches for that money. 🤷♂️
I own the pepsi version of the seiko and I love it. One of my favorite watches. I love it as much as my Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra
What is the reference of seiko pepsi like model ?
your rolex rehaut is not alligned perfectly mine has the same problem
You're comparing apples to oranges. If someone is considering the Rolex, they're not even thinking of the Seiko. The only reason to consider the Seiko is because the Rolex is out of your range.
😂😂
A dial on a pilots watch doesn't really need a clicking bezel, only on a divers watch you would need that.
Love the seiko v heavy though
Never owned a GMT. So, the GMT hand should be set to your home city time, and when you’re traveling to another time zone, the hour and minutes hands should be at the time of the city you’re in?
@@Lawomenshoops Correct
Actually I like the Seiko much better...and a ton of $$$$ savings.. ALSO a very notable difference is that the Seiko GMT hand is underneath the hour hand as it should other than the Rolex GMT hand which would cover the hour hand at times.
Nice job ❤
The seiko pairs very well with a hyumdai or kia
Hi does yours have a miss aligned chapter ring (noticeable at the 12 indice) ? I've brought 3 and they all have! So gutted!
Im rich go for rolex but my budget is just for seiko but these two are just fine.
So is the rolex a caller or a traveler? He said the hour hand moves by itself so I presume it's the latter....
The GMT master II is a traveler GMT.
I like both
I feel the same way
As much as I love the Bat Girl, the very fact the comparison is being made suggests the Seiko wins.
I see only one colour on the Seiko bezel insert??
It's black and blue
@@welcomewristthen i am going colour blind
@@mobiusklein9140 not at all, it can be hard to see the blue on the Seiko sometimes. It comes out under direct light.
