Seiko Solar V172 Rechargeable Battery Replacement

This video shows you how to change a Seiko Solar battery in a V172 movement. This process would work on most Seiko V17 based movements. I would recommend getting a battery with the terminals attached to make this process easier.

Where do you buy your gaskets by any chance? I have a V172-0AJ0 and can’t seem to find any gaskets for it online.

I usually get them through watch part sellers like Esslinger.com

@@foksapet if you can get the exact measurements you might be able to order a generic replacement. I’ve been able to find third party crystals (for a different Seiko) from crystaltimes.net

damn dude, you need some training on how to replace a battery. Truly a horrible job.

My children can change a watch battery. It’s easier than changing the oil on a car. Take off the base back, swap the battery, replace the gasket (maybe) and screw the case back on. Who would pay for that training? 😂
