Living with colitis and taking prednisone and biologics=extreme urgency, bloody stools, anemia, extreme weight loss, hair loss, daily pain, minimal sleep, and isolation (due to unpredictable bowel movements), not to mention all the risks associated with the prednisone and biologics. Surgery = Feeling normal and healthy and getting your life back and no more pharmaceuticals. Honestly, as someone who has had the BB surgery, I don't think it will be too bad for you. Hugs.

I’m also feeling nervous as well about my upcoming surgery. But I have remember with what I’ve been through I can do this. I was 26 years old when I was diagnosed with UC that was in 2011. I lived with UC for 5 years. At 31 years old (2016) I ended up getting an ileostomy on October 26, 2016. After the surgery cancer was found in my liver it was stage 4 Non Hodgkin’s lymphoma cancer. I was 32 years old (2017 when I lived in the hospital for 5 months. trying to recover from the surgery and I was doing my chemo treatments fighting the cancer in my liver. I was 32 (2017) when i ended up having a seizure that is when the doctors thought there was a tumor in my brain. It ended up being an old blood clot. I was 33 years old (2018) when I was in the hospital for the last two times. Once was in April 2018 when I had a mini stroke and the other time was in May 2018 when a cyst burst near my ovaries. Now I’m 39 years old, I’m a cancer survivor I’ve been 6 years cancer free. And I’ve lived with my ileostomy for 8 years now.

My Barbie Butt surgery is also in December the 11th I will also be getting a hysterectomy done at the same day as my Barbie Butt Surgery. I wish you luck on your surgery and recovery

Just had mine on the 19th i also got a new stoma. I couldnt feel anything down there until 9 days post op its been great so far. I have been sitting to i was scared and ny surgeon did amazing. Each day gets easier.

Oh kayla. your video made me cry because i felt the exact same way as you. I had a good few emotional days but you are spot on!staying positive is the best thing you can do. Kayla, I was in your position 6 months ago now. I had a rollercoaster of emotions, and absolutely no family or friends supporting me. It's the right decision you will be fine you will recover fast. The pain is minimal don't worry . God is gonna get you through.

Honestly, Kayla, I had a complete proctocolectomy on a Friday and came home Tuesday. Obviously, pain was managed in the hospital, and I came home using only Tylenol and Advil. I was terrified to get the Barbie butt stitches removed because of everything I'd heard, and it ended up being completely painless. I'd say the BB part of my surgery was more annoying (not being able to sit) than painful.

It's brilliant. It's been probably 20 years since mine was done, I'm losing count. It's uncomfortable of course but hang in there because down the track you have your life back to enjoy with your little cutie and other loved ones. Be patient, nurture yourself and cry when you need but follow up with a smile. You too will come out the other side way better off. Love and healing light coming your way. Bron from Sydney ❤

It is the right decision, it will be painful, but be patient. Don’t over do it durning your recovery, that was my issue. Hang in there.😉

I just drank it down as quick as I could. It was absolutely the worst crap I have ever had to do before a procedure. It was just a full day of discomfort and all that. I could not sleep. I worked 6 pm to 6 am the day before my prep and that was a mistake. I was awake for two full days.

Good Luck with your coming up barbie butt surgery. You will be good. I have one and have had no problems. You'll be in my prayers . Ostomate buddy from Ohio.

That's fantastic news kayla! I know exactly how you feel kayla! Just had mine done 5 months ago. My surgery is a little different to yours, they kept my anal canal and anus and just removed my entire rectal stump. My anus wasnt affected by the uc so they were happy to leave it. Also, im in my late 30s and am currently on my Fertility journey. I was advised that removing them would be a longer recovery which wasnt an option unfortunately! I definitely feel soo much healthier overall though. Sending prayers all positive energy and hugs to you all the way from Australia! I'm soo happy to hear you finally have a date! Hello you mentioned that they are going to sew your anus shut. Are they going to remove your anal canal and anus or just going to sew these up from the inside or outside? I just had my proctectomy surgery done 6 months ago...best wishes on your journey. May you finally find peace in your life from uc!
