Congratulations!! You are amazing. I have had my ileostomy for 51 years and can’t imagine being so open about it. I have 2 adopted children and being a mom is the greatest blessing on earth. Please keep sharing your story Before social media I used to think I was the only person in the world who had one. An ileostomy does not define you. We just have to learn to make modifications

Oh wow that’s amazing!! Can I ask- did you have to have any surgeries on your ileostomy since your original surgery or has it been going well for the past 51 years?
Being a mom is definitely the best blessing!! I’m so happy you were able to adopt!!

This was a very educational video. I have an ileostomy and had a full colectomy, for the longest time I did not want a child but have constantly worried about the side effects on my body more than anything else. Only difference is I think c section will be the easiest option. But thank you for putting my mind at ease, that we can do it!

I totally get that! I had actually convinced myself that I was okay not having kids because I was scared I either was not able to get pregnant (after trying unsuccessfully for so many years) and for fear of what pregnancy with an ostomy is like. I’m so happy that my pregnancy and birth was relatively normal! I’m happy my experience was educational! 🥰🥰

Hi Kayla, Unfortunately I did have to have 3 after the initial one. I got my ileostomy at age 16 due to ulcerative colitis. Had 2 surgeries due to adhesions and one due to a blockage. My last one was 28 yrs ago. Hoping that was my last one. Thankfully I’ve always done well with my bag. Im 68 yrs old and probably healthier than most people my age. Still work part time as a nurse. Exercise 3 times a week and I’m still intimate with my amazing hot husband- Lol…I also live in the Houston area. Maybe sometime we could get together for lunch. Keep up the video’s. I love them all❤

That’s great to hear that your most recent surgery was 28 years ago! That gives me hope that mine will last as well :) I think that is key to staying healthy - staying active and busy in all the ways 🙌🏼🥰 Yes! We should get together for lunch!

I have a question - as your post partum belly shrinks and becomes looser skin, can you update us on how well the bag sticks? I guess it depends on how your skin recovers from being stretched - not everyone will have super loose post partum bellies and everyone is different, but it is something I've thought about.

Dear I’m having ostomy since 2016.. I’m having ivf treatment bt confuse to go with twins or single pregnancy pls let me know ..? Does the ostomy hurts in pregnancy

I’m just seeing your comment now! Have you decided already whether to do twins or a single pregnancy? I had a single pregnancy and my experience was great! My stoma doubled in size gradually as my belly grew and it only kinda hurt a couple times when it grew fast and the hole in my flange was too small for it. Once I changed my bag and cut the hole larger, it didn’t hurt anymore!
