    Thank you so much for your content honestly as a person with an ostomy for 14 plus years I only found in the last year or two there are ostomy channels out there I never knew and there is one gentleman I follow here that is from Canada named vegan ostomy and his name is Eric and he is so amazing❤❤❤❤ unfortunately I didn't see a big deal from him about skin issues but I think that is because a man's skin is more durable than a woman's skin and let's face it when you have something covering your skin 24/7 over extended periods you're bound to have some issues😢😢😢 thank you I'm going to continue watching your video and I'm definitely subscribing❤❤❤❤❤

    I use the exact same bag as you, with the convex wafer and the convex barrier ring too, I’m waiting see my stoma nurse at the moment to ask for the protective sheets because I have a lot of creases and folds on my skin. I would also like to thank you for showing me your crusting technique, it looks much better than how I apply mine so thank for that il update my technique there. Btw I’d love see you’re apartment if you want to show off your decor 👍👍

    I finally got an appt with the ostomy and wound care nurse. She put me in a colotec ostomy bag with a convex and a silicone paste. Now I also really like colopast products as well. Hollister I had to let go of since when there is gas you have to go in and burp it. I am at the moment seeing how long I can wear this set up. I can't do the one piece I get more leakage with it.

    Sorry for all the comments but this is my first time watching and I love to share my experience also I changed to coloplast about a year ago I had always used Hollister because that's what they gave me in the hospital and I had no idea there was other options😢😢 in my experience coloplast is a much better product it is a Canadian company and their customer service is top-notch❤❤❤❤❤ I cannot say the same for Hollister last year when I started having problems with my Appliance sticking I tried everything I even got to the manager of that department but honestly I found considering the business they're in the they were no help she basically held my hand listened and said there there go look after it yourself😢😢😢😢😢

      @@OstomyLifeUnfiltered also I have IBS I am a senior I am home quite a bit and I found a product on Amazon that is a game changer if you're interested I can tell you more it's a one-piece bag which I've never used with a clip which I've never used but I decided to try them because it was getting so expensive I got one box and it was $20 for 20 bags so I wasn't expecting much at $2 a bag I was pleasantly surprised and ordered more

    I used the same technique with a teraderm on the skin. It stops the skin irritation unless there's an excessive leak. Otherwise, it's a life saver.

      Oh that’s smart! Do you cut a hole in it for your stoma and have it close to the stoma? I hope that makes sense lol like will it help the area right around the stoma?

    Good to know about that spray- I use the ones in the little foil packets but I will try to order some next time. I had a small blockage and ended up with skin irritation. It has been taking awhile to heal.

    I get confused about the spray. Should the spray completely dry before adding the stoma powder? I have been using an adhesive wipe to tap around the broken down area, then dry with my hair dryer on cool setting. After that I sprinkle a thin layer of nystatin powder on. I do three applications to crust the area.

    • @OstomyLifeUnfiltered
      @OstomyLifeUnfiltered  Год назад +1

      I think you are correct! I think the purpose of the spray is to “lock in” the powder that has soaked up any wetness from broken skin. Then when you do another layer after spraying and letting it dry, the next layer of powder will stick to any remaining wetness from broken skin. I hope I didn’t confuse both of us more now haha 😂

    Okay I'm at the point where you're talking about stoma powder and spray I find when I do that my ostomy Appliance doesn't stick and it's only been this year I've discovered the extenders that definitely help extend the life of your Appliance but if the appliance itself is not sticking you're going to get leaks😮😮😮 what am I doing wrong or does anyone else have issues with stoma powder and their wafer sticking properly😮😮😮😮

      Hi @patriciadavis I’ve had my colostomy bag since the end of 2019 and then I got my ileostomy bag in 2021.I have the reoccurring problem of my bag not sticking as well and a lot of nurses say that the crusting ordeal works with the powder but once you put a ton of powder on your ostomy space the itching goes away but your bag falls off 15 minutes later that may just be me, but from what I’m reading it sounds like that’s what you’re going through to. I think we may be allergic to the waifor because I keep getting cellulitis because my bag won’t stay on but I hope you find something that works for you. What works for me personally to get the bag to stick is this spray that’s supposed to be a barrier film but it also saves your skin from if you’re in the bathroom and something comes up like water or liquid from your body or even output I hope this helps and I wish I could take a picture of the bottle because the companies that’s an ostomy bags don’t send that you have to go to the hospital and get it or to your ostomy nurse. Have a great day.
