Kids can’t read for a lot of reasons but I think that the fact their parents and maybe even grandparents can’t read The dumbing down of America has been happening for decades.

ONE WAS SPENDING ALL HIS LEAVE GOING TO CHICAGO TO STAND TRIAL FOR KILLING HIS STEP DAD, HE WAS THE SMARTEST OF THEM ALL. HE WAS FOUND INNOCENT FOR SELF DEFENSE OF HIS MOTHER. While I believe in this. I am in 5th grade and all of my friends are on at least a 7th grade level and the district tested me saying I should skip grades. However, my 4 year old sister still does not know how to read and throws a fit when she doesn’t get her iPad.

Schools have become the stand-in/ pseudo-parent for many households. It's why I will homeschool. I know that my intellect and understanding of critical thinking is well enough to educate a child to an appropriate standard. My only weakness is math, which I can just teach myself or get a tutor to help with areas I am weak in. I am a disabled veteran so I get a monthly income for the rest of my life that is enough to never need to work. I am also a single-mom. My father cannot fathom why I wont just send my son to school when hes old enough and get a job to make even more money. I am beyond blessed to give my every waking moment to my son, despite how challenging it can be (especially now that he's 2), and so I would like to essentiallt earn my wage and try to do what I wish my parents could have done for me by giving my son a tailored education. My father made 13k a month when I was a child yet he forced my moyher to work to pay for a $900 apartment while he drove a $60k Ferrari around. And due to the lack of input in my education I dropped out of G&T. So many opportunities were sacrified due to selfishness. My son's education will be different. He will not have to self-teach from documentaries or educational books to suplement his understanding of science and history like I had to. I'm jsut glad I had the drive, despite my refusal to do homework and only barely pass every clase due to lack of motivation in school. We need to adopt many aspects of the the Finnish school system- forst by raising salaries and then by making becoming a teacher as prestigious as becoming a doctor. Not only should teachers be educated to a higher degree than they currently are, but there should be a vetting process where they are voted in by a teacher panel (if I remember correctly that's how Finland does it.) I would suggest waiving the extra education that current trachers will need for one or two generations while slowly rising the standards to qualify to where they need to be. Also giving possible temporary tax breaks or government benefits to aid these teachers as they are reaching those standards may help. Those who have yet to obtain their credentials wouldnt be included. But I am not an expert on economics and the like so I may just be ignorant in my concept of how it could be done. 😊

This epidemic has been going on for YEARS. It's weird how people are only now calling it an epidemic. Covid occurring is understandable but what about all the other things humans dealt in the past like ww1, 2, Spanish flu, ect. Yes, covid affected our mental health and social skills but we can't blame it forever. Covid was 4 years ago. And soon will be a decade since covid occured. I think the problem with loneliness right now is people knowing the root of their problem, yet having not effort to find solutions and expect someone else to pick up the pieces for them. Alot of people wanna blame others for their loneliness but at some point, you'll have to wonder who's really at fault here... some people are often in a victim mentality as well and dismisses other people's struggles because they have something they don't which is why I often find it hard to sympathize with people going throught loneliness. As someone who used to go through too and is trying to expand my social life and have more fun in high school and with family lm noticing that allt of us are too focused on the problem but not looking for a solution which is why they grow bitter and envy of others. We need stop making videos that constantly explains the issues and start making one's that revolve around solutions.

As a gen alpha born with a higher iq I was born with a love for reading! I’m in high school and can read at a college reading level,I’m in honors English, and I speak very well for my age so seeing how uh- stupid other people of my age are it’s kind of crazy

I think we all need a reminder every now and then that when it comes to wellness, we need to curate our lives that best suits US. Not turning and relying on influencers. Because I know that Bloom is kind of annoying. And some other powders and mixes too. It’s hard for me to explain right now, but there’s a chance that maybe, just maybe someone might actually genuinely likes Bloom. And might even use it because it’s what makes them happy, not because for the attention or money. But of course it’s not ideal for everyone, and shouldn’t really be marketed as a ‘Must have’ for the masses. Some people can really do well with just the simple basic, reasonably priced wellness stuff or makeup. Some people just don’t need all the fancy stuff and the powder. Because we are all not the same, so different things will work out for each of us. Yet it’s like social media in the self-care and wellness section really seems to want all of us to be confined in some kind of box and follow the same trends. Slowly conditioned to think we need X, when we actually don’t. But also, I’m not saying that we should all have to get the cheap options. I mean just, we should be able to get things that are both accessible and reasonable, while at the same time is good for us. And overtime maybe if people have enough money. If they can slowly make their goal to be able to get something more high quality to truly improve their quality of life, then I think that’s pretty alright.

I remember my younger sibling coming home from school and saying that over half of her grade couldn’t read, so the teacher threatened them with more homework. The struggle is real.

I have an idea for restock/consumerist influencers: backpack stocking for homeless people. Stock it with nice toiletries, pretty bags to organize, coordinating charging kit and water bottles, durable and comfortable blankets, whatever floats their boat. Still focused on purchasing and coordinating, but actually useful to someone.

These random people in LA are dropping millions of dollars on glorified cauliflower and things with names even I do not understand, while I have an iPad taped to my wall for a TV. Surprisingly, I think I’m happier with my life than most of these influencers.
