I study and work teaching a language so I can only imagine how much more work having a family is. There is no time for such nonsense like decorations for your fridge! As long as it works and it's clean and it's working...
Folks still buy white fridges, just the cafe brand white fridges. I love BLACK stainless appliances. My appliances are all pink, including my fridge. I had them all wallpapered LOL
This is crazy to me because I live with 3 roommates, sharing one (small, old) fridge, and we consistently don’t have enough fridge space for necessary stuff. We’re asking our landlord for a larger one because it’s such a problem, especially because I have bulky boxes of medication that must be refrigerated. We have absolutely zero space for decorations in there!!
This is so far beyond the pale, just the HEIGHT of utter foolishness. Put aside the fact that Fridgescaping is a time/money waste, and ask how it even makes sense on any sort of practical level. It's only going to look nice until you have to make the first meal, and all those pretty bowls of produce are half used up. Stupidity at its finest. ETA Also, no real people are actually doing this. These are ADS to encourage people to buy products.

In Scandinavia, both white and stainless steel fridges are OUT - it's all about integrated fridges (and appliances in general - dishwashers, freezers... we don't want to see it). 😂 It is kinda funny how these things change and the differences between cultures and what is deemed "in" and preferred.
Every time I think I met overconsumption's final boss form, Ashely V or Kiki drops a new video to but me in shock & awe. LED candles....in the fridge? Somebody please stop these undisclosed ads on Tiktok. Nobody really does irl but thanks to videos like this now it either a) appears like people do when they really don't because they are trying to shove as many products into an "video" *cough* ad *cough* or b) now people who have some type of shopping addiction will use this to fuel their reason to keep shopping. 1000% this. These are not real people who just happen to live this way, but rather are very creative ads that many people haven't learned to recognize as such yet. These influencers are running out of ways to showcase the products in new and unique ways to encourage consumption, which is why we are seeing more and more unhinged atrocities like "Fridgescaping". People need to wake up and see it for what it is - pretty ADS to sell products.
This is the first time that i actually have to disagree with your takes, yes although this is an obvious show of over consumerism, besides that there isn't anything wrong with them, especially if they reuse their materials after using them to decorate their fridge. There is nothing wrong with having a hobby, a majority of people have them and if this is a way for these people to destress or enjoy the space of their home then there shouldn't be a reason to demonize them. Not everything has to have a purpose except for simply making you happy, and like another youtuber has said this is a piece of art in its own way and addressed both its positive and negative traits, many people in their comment sections even addressed that they might do this due to mental health issues and having a space they enjoy and feel safe in makes them feel better. There are bigger problems going on in the world than yelling at people for decorating their fridges imo.
I don't even decorate my house lol I HATE clutter so this is a nightmare. I also hate unnecessary cleaning and extra work. I have loads of free time, but I spend it learning stuff, doing actual hobbies, and being with my family. This is just weird to me.
As a mother in a family of 4 with 2 growing children, my fridge is just usually packed full of FOOD. How do these people not have actual FOOD in their fridges? That's what I don't get about the fridge restocks either. If the fridge is filled with 495383 plastic containers full of snacks and produce or just full of decorations... where's the meats? Where is their defrosting chicken they are gonna cook that night for dinner? Where are there leftovers? I just have stacks of containers of prepped food or of leftovers, something marinating, etc. Always a packed fridge until close to grocery day. You do you boo, but I find the logistics and the realistic-ness not there with all these fridge things. How do you EAT?! LOL
Gone are the days when your fridge was used for the purpose of food preservation, storage or cooling your food or drink to make them more enjoyable…I just can’t.
I don’t really have a problem with this on an artistic level. I think it’s reasonable to argue against it on a consumerism level though because constantly buying new things for a next video is problematic. But like painting, flower arranging, crocheting, miniatures, etc I think this could be classified as a genuine hobby. If people don’t just get rid of the decor they’ve all ready bought and instead reuse it, then whatever. Hell this is pretty similar to just generally decorating your house for holidays when I think about it. But that’s okay and fridgescaping is dumb just from the get go as a concept? I don’t think that’s entirely fair, it’s just a micro version of holiday decorating. And general home decorating, except in a very strange place. I also think it’s silly to criticize it as a time waster and sort of shame the people doing it for that reason. I crochet and I have lots of crochet pieces I’ve made and that takes a lot of time. It’s a hobby and lots of people have time for personal hobbies. Not even all working class people are working 7 days a week for 10 hours a day with no time for themselves (like me for example. I have plenty of time for my hobbies even though I’m working class). So saying they must have a lot of time on their hands I think is silly and just kinda goes without saying if they exclusively do this on tiktok. It doesn’t need to be stated and I don’t think it’s a genuine critique. They have time for it. Maybe you don’t, but just because you don’t doesn’t mean it should automatically be written off for that reason. I just have a question for people who do this genuinely: My fridge has too much food for decorations. There’s literally no room. I don’t understand how people are able to do this while still having a normal amount of food in the fridge :P like do they just get takeout mostly and only keep a few things in the fridge? Or do they just not ever have much in the fridge in the first place so it doesn’t matter? Also I have to ask. Are these people encouraging others to do this as well? Are they shaming anyone for having a normal looking fridge? Or is this just THEIR weird hobby that they want to share on the internet like many people like to do? Because I don’t suddenly feel poor or lesser than because some people on tiktok make their fridges look pretty on the inside and I don’t. Beauty standards and the like are incredibly problematic, but decorating your fridge, to me, doesn’t feel like these people are creating or trying to create a ‘standard’ for how your fridge looks. I think they’re sharing a hobby (strange as it may be) and that’s all. If they are blatantly over consuming that deserves critique. But like I said before, it reminds me of decorating for holidays and usually people keep their holiday decorations in some sort of storage. So if these fridgescapers aren’t reusing anything then that deserves critique but otherwise I think this is pretty harmless.
One note on the white fridge vs stainless steel discourse. We recently had to buy all new appliances due to a house fire and each brand has their own hue of stainless steel and put next to each other it is obvious to the eye that they are different. So they are doing this to make the customers buy all their products if they don't want a "chaotic" kitchen. That was what the sales guy at Lowe's said when he found out we weren't going to buy all the same brand. It was WILD
I have an idea for restock/consumerist influencers: backpack stocking for homeless people. Stock it with nice toiletries, pretty bags to organize, coordinating charging kit and water bottles, durable and comfortable blankets, whatever floats their boat. Still focused on purchasing and coordinating, but actually useful to someone.
😂😂😂😂 yeah it’s getting pretty ridiculous! Just put the d*mn containers and that’s it 😂 we trying to find money to feed ourselves and put food in the fridge. Where do they find this extra time and money…. Oh that’s right their supporters….. let that sink in
Oh my gosh, this is the first time I’ve seen fridgscaping. I have seen the restocking videos on instagram which I thought were crazy but this is a whole other level. Just ridiculous!!
I'm only 2 mins in to the video so I'm not sure if Ashley will mention this but right away I feel like the first ones who started this did it because they genuinely like it and/or maybe have an extra fridge in their home to accommodate. The other 99% is/will be doing it for views and will more than likely take the extras out and put them back as their home decor once their done filming.
The only thing that makes sense for me is keeping flowers in the fridge potentially. It does make them last a lot longer and if you have really pretty blooms from a favorite rose or something like that, maybe it makes sense to preserve them longer in the fridge. I know florists always recommend keeping arrangements cool overnight and I always think how I don't have room in my fridge for flowers but I can kind of see the point of flowers to some degree. In the fridge, I mean. I love flowers everywhere else, too!.
Our grannies putting Easter flowers/Christmas holly that matched the leftover containers would be mad these influencers aren’t blessing the food by having a cross in there 😭
This is insane 😳 I highly agree people lack community and resort to this bullshit. When you’re fulfilled in other areas of your life, like spending time with loved ones, money management, being content with less then there’s no need to focus on such foolishness.
Not they have to maneuver around the decorations just to grab some milk 😂🥴 & they must not have kids with all of that glass in the fridge 😩😅 Btw all of them look very unflattering 😭😭 looks like a hoarders dream
Having an inox/stainless steel fridge is a pain to keep looking good as all finger prints and smarts stick out as sore thumb ( I got mine only because it was the cheapest option)
7:28 side note: I have never watched RHOA but even I know that moment😂😂😂 I know NeNe is doing good but for the cultural impact she has had she should have a bigger career.
I feel so sorry for those flowers sitting there, freezing in that fridge. There is a reason why we are told to put our bouquets in LUKEWARM water, and not cold water.
Keeping the fridge clean and organized is already enough work 😭😭
i relate to this on way to many levels
Okay! I don’t have the time for this 😂 especially since the fridge is closed 98% of the time like..

It was WILD
I don't have space for this due to this thing called food that I keep in my fridge m.
Have people just plain lost their minds?
Best kind of fridge is clean simple one 😅
Being a minimalist I can't understand all of these trends they seem scary to me
I'm only 2 mins in to the video so I'm not sure if Ashley will mention this but right away I feel like the first ones who started this did it because they genuinely like it and/or maybe have an extra fridge in their home to accommodate. The other 99% is/will be doing it for views and will more than likely take the extras out and put them back as their home decor once their done filming.
idk why i just frantically laughed outloud at this like a mad woman. what timeline are we in?
“This is not the hobby of people who have lives” 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Not they have to maneuver around the decorations just to grab some milk 😂🥴 & they must not have kids with all of that glass in the fridge 😩😅
Btw all of them look very unflattering 😭😭 looks like a hoarders dream
I agree! They look messy and cluttered.

Another day, another reason why *TIKTOK WAS A MISTAKE*. 🙃
The fridgerton has me dead lol . Whyyyy
i saw the thumbnail and literally was like 🤨 what did i just see! seriously my adhd CANT. at best my fridge is clean
These people need friends.
I am not in my 20s or 30s..but I just shove whatever fits in my fridge.😆
these people are spending thousands of dollars on these massive refrigerators and not storing food in then. good lord.
I feel so sorry for those flowers sitting there, freezing in that fridge.
There is a reason why we are told to put our bouquets in LUKEWARM water, and not cold water.
