a day out with Douglas at Middle Pavilion. When a salmon took my fly the running line ended up rapped around the reel and it must have found a sharp edge to cut the line. I managed to grab hold of the Brocken end just to feel the salmon shake its head . Just a bit more fun at the river

What flies do you use in this run?
Lovely, well done Iain..... 'the fish whisperer'. Far be it for me to provide advice to yourself. You might want to put your forceps or pliers on a lanyard (retractable) then thee are always to hand.
Excellent, congratulations and well done. Lovely video and that was lump of a cockfish!! Never fished the Thurso but it looks fabulous
Awesome video. Congrats to the nice fish. Cheers 👍👊
You need to buy a proper net. Mc Lean xL
Well done Iain!!! Another fantastic fish and a great video. Thanks for posting!!
well done Ian.Great fish great fight".
another day of enjoyment Steve. who could ask for more Cheers Iain. 🥃
Slow and steady wins the fish. Nice one Ian. Patience does the trick at the end of the day. Very illuminating video of the art of watercraft. Well done! Look forward to more of the same we hope for the Winter Months. 😊
It always seems to get that bit more fishy once the sun goes down Christopher. I was determined after loosing the other one that I should land this one Cheers Iain 🥃
Excellent result Iain, well done, great location to. Thanks
It's a lovely beat to fish Paul. there are few beats on the Tweed that are double bank fishing and it does make a difference when there aren't anglers fishing from the opposite bank Cheers Iain. 🥃
Brilliant well done Iain 👏👏👏, do you not fish at Cardrona any more ?
I have been fishing a few times Chris but not for long as I had a fall on the last day at the Tay and cracked a few ribs . I think I have a Tay video and a Cardrona video to edit Cheers Iain. 🥃
@ sorry to hear that Iain, hope you’re feeling better, I wondered whether you used to be on a syndicate on there and now just fished anywhere you wanted 🥃
Excelllent, well done Iain ..... lovely specimen! Thank you for sharing this
I think I was quite lucky getting a fish as clean as that as they seemed to be coming coloured. I think that a lot of the fish were reluctant to come into the rivers this year due to the high water temperatures and sat at sea waiting on cooler water It will soon be time for you to prepare for your North Esk trip I will look forward to your video Cheers Iain. 🥃
What a superb fish Iain, and very well played. It seemed like it wasn’t keen to move out of the current, so well done for coaxing it away. As always, text-book casting and patience, which has been very well, and justifiably rewarded. Congratulations! 🎉
Thank you Peter Big fish tend to get into the steamy water and put their heads down and I think it always helps to pull a bit to the side an enjoyable day Cheers Iain. 🥃
What a fish and a great fight you did so well. Pleasure to watch and tight lines for the New Season.
Thanks Norman tight lines for next season to yourself also. I may have another video or Two to edit before I can tie flies for next year... no more big fish in them Cheers Iain. 🥃
Majestic fish on a beautiful afternoon. I thoroughly enjoyed that. Well done.
I wasn't going to bother having another cast or two as I was hungry Richard. It just felt really fishy so had to have a go. the one that was on at the bottom of the run felt bigger but I will never know for definite Cheers Iain. 🥃
Brilliant to see your efforts suitably rewarded with a big salmon Iain, it was not going to be bullied, so superbly and patiently played, well done. What a lovely day out so late in the year, best fish of the year maybe??.Cheers Peter.🥃🥃
It was my biggest for the season Peter !6lb of muscle I think the first one was that I had on felt bigger but ill never know Cheers Iain. 🥃
A great day Iain what weight pal
It was 16lb John just got it in the weigh net and back into the water Cheers Iain. 🥃
Well done Iain. What a cracker that one. Powerful animal. Delighted to see you land it.
Well done Iain. A stunning fish. Great vid. What a fight. Its so difficult on your own sometimes.
we try get them in the net asap but as you say Colin its awkward on your own It won't be long before you get another March springer. Cheers Iain. 🥃
@IainSB cheers Iain. Hopefully yes. All the best.
Well done Iain... great take from a lovely energetic fish... it really wanted that fly!! Cheers James 🥃
The first one felt a good fish and I think that it may have been bigger Happy to settle on that one James Cheers Iain. 🥃
Well done Iain! What a beautiful fish. Yor casting is so skilled to watch. As with my fishings down the years, you keep concentration and expectation as you fish each and every cast……Then, BANG! A fish has taken and the thrill is ecstatic! You just have to be patient to bring the fish to hand. Nick from York
Fishing is so relaxing Nick and I tend to let my mind wander and look around at all that is around me and I think that's why I tend to lift my rod so quickly when a fish takes. There is so much to see in the way of wild life. That I don't concentrate that much on fishing. I never show any of my tangles or bad casts 😉 Cheers Iain. 🥃
Cracker.. well done
a cracking fish
There have been some big fish in the Tweed this year James and I have been lucky enough to land one Cheers Iain. 🥃
Great fight 👏👏👏
We hope for days like that while we sit and tie flys over the winter Stephen Just perfect when it happens Cheers Iain. 🥃
Brilliant Iain, a big healthy and clean looking fish. And it gave a great account of itself, bravo sir.
It must have been resting for a while before it took the fly Frank it put up a great fight Cheers Iain. 🥃
Well done Iain
Thanks Bruno. Just a perfect day. Cheers Iain. 🥃
Great fish Iain , I think that one was on steroids the way it fought, lovely looking fish 🎣. Well done 🥃.see you soon.
well rested just like me at the moment Cheers Iain. 🥃
Wow what a fight Iain well done been watching all season and it seemed a tough year! All the better now with that fish! Must have been close to 20lbs? 🔥🎣🐟 Well done!
It tipped the scales at 16lb IMM. most enjoyable day and a cracking fish Cheers Iain. 🥃
Thanks for another excellent video Iain. Beautiful water to be fishing but if that’s a sample of the quality of the fish you’ll need to get a bigger net lol. Well done sir
I find that my back aches after carrying a net about all day Andrew That wee net has had fish up to 25LB in it . as long as you get the head in and the depth is big enough you would be amazed at the size of the fish that fit in. There was an old guy that I met quite a few times on the river that had a smaller net than my one and I saw him land a few fish that were over 25lb in it That was forty plus years ago Cheers Iain. 🥃
Cracking fish Iain great fight well done.
It was a great fish and put up a terrific fight Paddy Its the usual once the sun goes down there is always a better chance Cheers Iain 🥃
