Another great video ian, next time you are passing the Alness it's a great little spate river,i stay in Alness, it's fishing rather well at the moment, but I imagine you have fished it before, all the best cant wait for the next outing,🎣
Hi John We stayed near Alness about 6 years ago with the intension of fishing but there was very little water in the river. I did wander up and down the river looking at all the great pools and hopefully I will get the chance to get back again and enjoy a cast or two Cheers Iain. 🥃
Looks a great river to fish even in low water. Apologies for not managing to get you up on the Findhorn this week. If I have the same week next year ill definitely get you along. Tight lines for your next trip.
@IainSB thank you. Looks like I can get the first week in September again for next year if you fancied the week or a few days. Hopefully get chance to talk to you if you go to Tulchan next year.
Another nice video thanks, unlucky fish there but just dour. Had a similar trip in June up to the Cassley .... plenty fish showing but not interested at all. Thanks again
I think that most of the rivers have a lot more fish this year but for some strange reason there are few takers we will need to see if they are a bit more aggressive as the water temperature drops Cheers Iain. 🥃
Thanks Tommy. the River Thurso can be productive but the last couple of summers have had the water temperatures high and it puts the fish off Cheers Iain. 🥃
It is a great river when conditions are favourable James . the water temperature was a bit high. on the Tuesday Roy was fishing on the lower beat6 and waiting deep and he commented that it was like having a bath with his clothes on
there were a lot of fish in the river Christopher so the week did show up more chances of a fish I think that we were about 15 miles from the sea on that beat Cheers Iain. 🥃
Nice one Iain... another adventure... the Thurso looks a great wee river... if you get a bit of rain I'd say you would have a better chance... tight lines! Cheers James 🥃
I have fished it way in the past when it was running at 17" I think that I had 7 fish a couple of days in a row . hit it right and have fun Cheers Iain. 🥃
I have fished the river Thurso for a number of years Burnie I have had some great catches but the last few years the water temperature in August has been very high and the levels a bit low I think that the rain this year hasn't been as much as we needed Cheers Iain. 🥃
sometimes the bar should shout a bit earlier Mr Mazo the walking in Caithness terrain isn't the easiest and working up a thirst is very easy Cheers Iain. 🥃
all I can say is it got a little bit better for the rest of the week it is hard work when the sun shines and the breeze doesn't create a wave on the water Cheers Iain. 🥃
There was enough water to have the odd fish go upstream Paul . I think that it was the water temperature that was making life difficult for us as You say next time You would think I had never caught a fish before 😜.Cheers Iain. 🥃
Fishing wouldn't be Fishing if we caught every time.its nice to get out and feel the water .catching is a bonus. We all need days to clear the mind and river fishing does that.
you have ht the nail on the head Robin a lot of non anglers think that its all about catching but in reality its more about the surroundings and everything that happens on a day at the river. hooking and catching a fish only lasts 20minutes and definitely a big part of a day out but we all have so many memorable days that we never caught . the new friends that I have met on the river and now lifelong friends is something that others sports don't have the opportunity of doing Cheers Iain. 🥃
I'm off fishing this weekend for my 60th.with my son and a friend if we catch something it will be a bonus if not it will still be memorable. A lot of non fishers can't seem to see what fishermen get out of fishing and think we are all odd.fishermans best kept secret?
I was ten in 1962 Alan and was still playing about in burns catching trout with tea towels kinshing guddeling and drowning worms I glad to hear that you were bitten and your photo shows it was well worth the effort . Keep at it we are only on this planet once Cheers Iain. 🥃
we have quite a few rivers in Scotland that seem to have more fish than usual Moe very difficult to catch and easily made a mess of returning when I forget my net. Cheers Iain. 🥃
It could have done with a bit more water and lower temperature James there were fish going through, I never seemed to have the camera on when they were heading upstream Cheers Iain. 🥃

Another blank day but enjoyable day out in a beautiful mixed river landscape. The fish will come! How far is the stretch from the sea?
