First time on the Brora and I enjoyed every minute . It was possibly a bit high and most of the salmon seemed to be heading upstream as that was where they were getting caught . Cheers Iain 🥃
Well done Peter!! and nicely unhooked by yourself Iain. The water looked great despite the rain, I'm sure that lovely salmon raised many people's spirits!!. Definitely worth another visit, and I noticed the fly/tube was lime green and orange. I know your I.B. Special is a great pattern, and will no doubt catch again, but I would like to see you try some yellow and black, or bright green and orange flies from time to time, I firmly believe that many times the fish just don't spot a black fly. I once heard an American angler say 'if it ain't chartreuse- it ain't no use' ha ha but maybe he knew something we didn't eh!!. I've got a good feeling there's a big salmon on it's way very soon with your name on it Iain, so wishing you great good fortune and tight lines!!Cheers Peter.
Thank you Peter it was a beautiful fish and even anglers dream . I have been fishing yellow and black and orange and black but I will bet my first salmon will be on an Iain Bain Special 😉. Cheers Iain. 🥃
It was a day to have the water running down inside the cuffs Christopher when one of the anglers catches a fish like that it makes it all worthwhile. Cheers Iain. 🥃
Jim has done a lot of work on the beat Chris and parking is so much easier. The pathways are a lot safer and access has been improved Cheers Iain. PS hope you are doing a bit of catching and hopefully we will catch up sometime during this year
No luck Ian! I used to fish Dalrawer in the 1990’s in my trout fishing days. Some very big trout in that stream. Remember some scary times trying to cross to the island in high water, don’t fall in there! On Tulchan mid May, beat C, hoping for some action. Thanks for posting this. Brings back many memories for me!
It was my first time fishing there Russ I will look forward to getting cast there again Tight lines at Tulchan you should hit it right . the east coast rivers seem to be producing a few fish Cheers Iain 🥃
Hi again Iain, You keep on doing what you’re doing, you will be rewarded. Today I am watching your video while we are in Aviemore tonight. We are visiting this lovely country this week and have had some lovely weather. Yesterday we visited Campbeltown, today we drove from Connel to Inverness and saw the moor near Loch Ness. Some Staggs and a Golden Eagle were the highlights of the day alongside the stunning views and beautiful scenery along the way. I hope you will catch a fish or two in the near future! Have a lovely night, Greetings Marcel 🥃
I am so glad that you are enjoying your trip and today your weather will have been good and I think you will have more of the same . all the best and enjoy the rest of your time in Scotland Cheers Iain 🥃
Great video Iain. Looks like you had some lovely spring weather. Getting ever closer to the first fish with someone you were fishing with landing one. Seems to be a lot about with seal damage this year. More than I ever remember showing up. Tight lines for the next trip.
Some of the seals are entering our rivers and making it upstream further than ever. It will be my turn soon 😉. I hope your fish is waiting for you on your next trip Toby Cheers Iain. 🥃
A braw fish, you'll be at the other end next time Iain. What fly did Peter take it on? The weather could have bee a bit kinder but it's pretty much the same all over the UK.
I,m not sure which fly he caught it on Mr Mazo and I never looked that closely when I mangled it with my pliers . we were quite fortunate that the river never rose until the following day. its a good job my skin is waterproof as the water was running up my sleeves Cheers Iain. 🥃
Hi Iain. Is Peter the beat owner or a fishing mate. Was the fish taken in Home Farm or higher up. I used to fish this beat a lot when I was nobburt a lad. Cheers Phil
The owner is a great lad called Jim Stewart and he does his letting through fish pal Tay Peter has fished the beat for a lot of years and helped try put me in the correct spots to catch a fish but he kept that one for himself . He was at the top of the Home Farm pool when he hooked it Cheers Iain. 🥃
Thanks Iain. Home Farm used to be one of my favorites. I think I mentioned before it used to be absolutely stuffed with fish September onwards. And a great taking pool. I must give it another go. Cheers Phil
I haven't seen a springer as good as that one for a while Alan even although it had a mark on its belly. I never looked that closely to see if it was seal damage but it definitely had a bit of damage Cheers Iain 🥃
Iain nice to help a friend land a fish ,hopefully nextime it will be your turn. I think you should show the fish something different on a dropper and your old faithful on the point everytime your out.🫡
Excellent and congratulations guys....perseverance pays off! thanks for producing and sharing!
