I fished there quite a few years ago to Gavin and had fish on and lost them (what's new) the pool was stuffed with fish Got to keep trying Cheers Iain. 🥃
I crossed the Ford a bit higher up getting onto the Island Paul and I could feel my car going a bit sideways until I got into shallower water. It was great to see so many fish in the lower river It has taken a bit of time to get salmon to take up residency after the seal cleared the lower 1/3rd of the Tweed early in the season Cheers Iain. 🥃
Hi Iain, yes indeed frustrating. Days like this come to every angler. Loads of fish but none taking a fly. Great to enjoy the day anyway, especially when there is Flora and fauna to see, as well as just enjoying being in the water. Nick from York
it was great to see so many fish splash in the river as the pools in the lower beats have been empty of salmon since early in the season due to seals invading the bottom 1/3 rd of the river... it has taken a while to build up residents. In some pools there are no fish stopping and I think that it is due to the lack residents . Cheers Iain. 🥃
Expertly fished Iain, at least that take and some good fish showing mean that hope springs eternal in the salmon anglers breast!! Lovely water, tight lines soon I hope!!,cheers Peter. Good off roading skills too may I say.🤗
It was good to see a lot of fish in the pool Peter . I have fished some waters this year that I know in my heart that there is no fish in the pools . this time it may have been a little frustrating but I did go home happy........ it was the first time fishing at that part of the river and when I drove onto the island I never took the correct route and could feel my car slipping sideways slightly as I went through deeper water . all was safe and it saved me washing the car 😁. Cheers Iain 🥃
Seems to be the way when you see lots of fish you don't seem to get one then when you see none you catch them. I've had it a few times on the Findhorn. Looks a lovely stretch to fish. Tight lines for the next trip. Hopefully I'll get a cast on the Tweed at some point this year.
Congrats on catching your fish Tobby I was Talking to Colin last Saturday and He said that he was going to meet with yourself and Chris Tight Lines and Hope to catch up at sometime . I will be fishing in just over a weeks time on the Thurso so looking forward to my trip Cheers Iain. 🥃
@IainSB thank you been a lot of effort put into catching that one. Hope there is plenty of fish about for you on the Thurso. Yes Colin is fishing with us in September on the Findhorn I'm looking forward to it. Tight lines for your Thurso trip.
When seeing the fish jumping out the water i thought this is the day, very frustrating watching them and trying everything in your box to land one, that’s fishing, still it was dry and looked very peaceful on the water, next time little fish bite Iain’s fly . Take care 🥃
Just another day of practise Dave It wasn't that frustrating, it was great to see so many fish in the river . Jazz dropped his phone in the water and it must have been own the riverbed for at least 10 mins he let it dry out for an hour and it is still working Cheers Iain. 🥃. I was talking to Mr T yesterday and hopefully he will manage to organise a beer meeting soon
Seemed to be a few showing just not latching onto your offerings. But it's good to see that they're still around!! Just one of those days which us anglers know only too well....😎👍👍
I have had a couple of days this year when I have been in pools that are stuffed with salmon........ so all is not lost Mr Mazo I went home with a smile knowing that there are fish in the river and a big bonus, I never had to wash my car Cheers Iain. 🥃
it was a good days fishing Stephen. catching was not on the salmon's agenda . I hope that all is well and music is still filling the Asbridge house Cheers Iain. 🥃
You'll need to put a "wee something" on your fly Iain. Have you tried those magnetic trebles? Here's a fly, "The Top Secret." Size 8 single, black body with one turn of flat gold in the middle. Black hackle, very sparse stoat's tail wing. You'll need a baseball bat to keep the fish off it.
It sounds a good fly I will try and get around to cobbling some together James. If I can't find my baseball bat I'll come to you for a hammer and a sickle 😜👌. ..... Cheers Iain. 🥃
Fished there many years ago Iain , can be very good on its day , usually better when water is low. Great video as allways
