the sever lack of trees are due to the howling winds that can be enjoyed if you stay north in Caithness Christopher . But at least it can keep the midge population hiding in the undergrowth they only come out when the wind drops below 5mph if you get the chance to fish the Thurso I am sure that you will enjoy the experience. Cheers Iain. 🥃
As Iain says, I had to keep reminding him in the car that my fish was bigger than. He's getting on a bit and at his age he may have forgotten. Come to think of it, I should probably remind him again soon. There must be a law that applies to those who don't fish much, like me - every time I tell the story, my fish seems to get bigger! It's a great river to fish and I enjoyed the week despite the conditions being a bit of a challenge for me - on the rare occasions when the wind droppped the midges came out in force. I suppose I should just shut up and be grateful that you never get both at the same time.
They said that brotherly love has died and you have just proved it to be so Lets see you cast a fly with your ski cause you're not getting a shot of my rod 😉😜🎣. Cheers Iain. 🥃
Not really John all I got coming down the A9 was that he had a bigger fish than me I was going to leave him in the House of Bruar but he snuck into the motor when I wasn't watching 😉 Cheers Ian. 🥃
It's referred to as a loch but the old ghillies preferred to point out that it is really a large pool with the water running in at the top and out at the end. At the hight it was at there is very little current and a struggle to catch fish. When the river is running about 17 inches it is a great place to be especially in the Spring. Cheers Iain. 🥃
The old ghillies preferred to have it fished as a large salmon pool rather than a Loch The main Lock is about a mile upstream and holds a lot of water and keeps the river flowing in dry summers for a while Cheers Iain. 🥃
I am really a shy guy Colin but will try talk a bit more. I have had some say that I should keep my mouth shut as I waffle...... I hope that you enjoyed the scenery All the best and tight lines. Cheers Iain. 🥃
Thanks Iain! Loch Beg is an interesting place to fish as the river creates a distinct flow line through the loch and this is where the fish normally hold up. Weed and shallower areas can also be a problem and line and fly selection become important. Excellent videos though and nice to join you on your fishing adventures!
Awesome video. It's a little bit of a windy place. Nice catch. Better luck next time for you 👍👊
It was good to see my brother get a fish Tommy. I have had my share of fish but I will keep trying for more. 😉.
Cheers Iain 🥃
Nice video Ian.
What landscape so open and free and a salmon in view. What more can a man ask for😂

What a place. Is that a flood or a small lake with a current?

An interesting video but a little more commentary would help.
