I love AOSTH Robotnik and think his design and character are great, but I agree he should have stayed in the show and Mean Bean Machine as he sorta loses his wacky charm outside of the wacky universe from the TV show. In the US we mostly a redesigned Classic Eggman with a slightly tweaked outfit and black eyes, and sometimes SatAm Robotnik. Personally I wish we did what Japan did and just went with Classic Eggman

Once upon a time in the sprawling cityscape of New York, a cosmic rift brought together an unlikely alliance. The moment Sonic's feet hit the ground, his presence was immediately noticed by Iron Man, who was patrolling the skies. Tony Stark's HUD lit up with alerts as he zoomed in on the fast-moving blue blur. "Jarvis, what am I looking at?" Tony murmured, intrigued. "An unknown lifeform exhibiting extraordinary speed," Jarvis responded. As Sonic sped through the city, taking in the sights, he skidded to a halt at the base of the Stark Tower. Iron Man landed gracefully beside him, his helmet retracting to reveal Tony's curious expression. "Hey there, speedy. You new in town?" Before Sonic could answer, the ground trembled. From the shadows, Batman emerged, his dark cape billowing. "I've been tracking disturbances in the multiverse," he said, his voice a low growl. "This is the epicenter." Just then, a thunderous roar echoed through the city as massive robotic forms emerged. Autobots, led by Optimus Prime, transformed from their vehicle states, towering over the landscape. "We received a signal of a dimensional breach," Optimus Prime announced. "We must investigate." As Sonic, Iron Man, Batman, and the Autobots assessed the situation, a new figure descended from the sky, lightning crackling around him. Thor landed with a thud, Mjolnir in hand. "By Odin's beard, what is this strange assembly?" The heroes quickly realized that the rift in dimensions had brought them together for a reason. From the shadows, a new threat emerged: a coalition of villains from each of their worlds. Dr. Robotnik, Loki, Lex Luthor, and Megatron had joined forces, aiming to conquer the merged universe. "We need to combine our strengths," Sonic said, his usual cocky grin replaced by a determined look. "Fast." Iron Man nodded, tapping into his suit's interface. "I've got tech that can help us track the rift's source." Batman, ever the strategist, began coordinating a plan. "Optimus, you and your Autobots can provide the heavy artillery. Thor, Sonic, and I will handle ground assaults." As the heroes united, they faced waves of robotic minions, mischievous magic, and cunning traps laid by their adversaries. Sonic's speed was crucial in outmaneuvering Robotnik's machines, while Iron Man's technology disrupted Lex Luthor's schemes. Thor's lightning clashed with Loki's magic, and Batman's tactical genius thwarted Megatron's assaults. The climactic battle took place at the heart of the dimensional rift, where the combined villains had set up their stronghold. As the heroes fought valiantly, it became clear that they needed to close the rift to prevent further chaos. Optimus Prime, wielding the Matrix of Leadership, stepped forward. "This will require all our strengths combined." In a final, united effort, Sonic's speed, Iron Man's technology, Batman's strategy, Thor's power, and Optimus Prime's leadership converged. The energy surge closed the rift, sending shockwaves through the city. As the dust settled, the heroes stood victorious. The villains had been defeated, and the dimensions began to separate once more. Sonic looked at his new friends with a smile. "That was one wild ride. But I have a feeling this isn't the last time we'll see each other." Iron Man chuckled, "Here's to hoping the multiverse stays in one piece." With a final nod, Sonic dashed back through the portal, returning to his world with a newfound appreciation for teamwork and friendship. The heroes of Marvel, DC, and the Transformers returned to their respective realms, ready to defend against any future threats. And so, the legend of the greatest crossover ever told became a tale of unity and heroism, reminding everyone that even the most unlikely of allies can come together to save the day.

I understand why a lot of people didn't like it or were disappointed by it, but it was endearing to me, and I enjoyed it for what it was. I agree it could have been better in a lot of ways, but it also could have been a lot worse. I hope for a season 2, and in general more of the world that the films and the show take place in. I think there is still a lot of potential if they took it seriously.

The unique music by the way is due to the music being made using GEMS, a tool designed by a third party to make it easier for third party developers to make Genesis music. That said Earthworm Jim 1 and 2 used GEMS too.

As you can see, both Sonic and Tails arrive at the island. It would make sense if It were Tails the one controlling the flippers and helping Sonic advance and stay safe.

I feel a same way and thought I was the only one who watched to watch it in Japanese verison more than the Dub. The only props that the Dub does right is most the casting choice. Other than that. The censoredship kinda gets in the way.

Him jumping into the water off the plane hunted me as a child

I remember getting this game when it came out and I wasn't really of the mind to nitpick about the stiff movement and low frame rate at the time but, over the years, I wondered if those things were a result of bad programming or intentional design because it feels like it might be way harder if it ran at 60 fps like the mainline games. Shoutout also to Spinball's completely unbalanced and blown out options screen music that sounds like a migraine feels.

i'm personally absolutely LIVID that the AoSTH design for robotnik was never used in another game- it's really one of the few designs that actually fit the ol' egg man himself in my opinion

Really enjoying this! I also didn't care too much for this show as a kid, but I always wanted to watch it in case Knuckles (my fav character) might appear. My friends swore they saw Knuckle in a couple episodes. But years later I came to learn that Knuckles does appear in Sonic Underground.

man I miss the Genesis days when Robotnik tried everything and anything to kill Sonic. I was about 5 when spinball came out even though I beat it creeped me out, but sometimes I like. You either close your eyes and never want to do it, or overcome that fear even if it costs you many lives 😂

I love the character models in this game and the amount of squash and stretch they animate with.

The first couple levels had me smiling. But my smile slolwy turned to a frown the deeper I got into the game. Being "not bad as forces" as the precedent for what makes Sonic game considered good is pretty depressing. I don't think this is a bad game, but I wouldn't call it good either (especially for the price).

The boss theme still haunts me in my dreams to this day.

I like the design but it's also fundamentally a different character from the one who appears in the games. Although western (and maybe global outside Japan?) localization renamed him to Robotnik even in the games, in Japan he was always Eggman. Eventually the canon would go on to combine the two names through a compromise by first introducing a new design, having the "Eggman" name originate from one of Sonic's quips in Adventure, and giving him the official name of "Dr. Ivo Robotnik" with "Dr. Eggman" becoming his personal nickname. However, I've long since settled on just distinguishing between the two designs by referring to the game design as Eggman and the cartoon design as Robotnik. The two characters are different much more fundamentally than just in design and name as well. Eggman has a much more comical flair to him, less in the sense of him being a bumbling idiot but just more in the sense of him being comically insane. He goes so far as to destroy and pollute environments in his pursuit of world domination, which would ultimately mean that should he succeed he'd have nothing left to rule over. There's this general sense of him being high on ambition but low on foresight, a trend that more or less carries on even up to today with the modern Eggman design. He's always got these crazy, outlandish plans to take over the world but never has any sort of plan for what he would do if he actually succeeded. Robotnik on the other hand, although comical in a Looney Tunes sort of way at least in AoSTH, has a much more menacing and threatening look to him that carries over into his portrayal in SatAM. This guy just in general feels like a way bigger and more menacing threat, the closest Eggman has ever come to matching these vibes is in Adventure during Tails' story. The only way Robotnik could look more threatening would be if he got buff.

Ian Flynn stated that Scratch is designed inspired by the Clucker Badnik from Wing Fortress. Sega likes that idea, for the Archie Reboot Post-SGW timeline.

one of the only changes i like is with Cream in the baseball scene. it was a bit weird to have that robot flustered over a little girl in the japanese dub rather than the american dub just making her cutesy like a kid lol

I had this game on PC (based off the Saturn version) and loved playing it. For nostalgia reasons, I prefer the Saturn version soundtrack, especially the Rusty Ruins zone music. It was a bit of a shock when I played the game on a Sonic collection disc and it was a different soundtrack. I didn't realise at the time that the game had been released on different consoles. The PC version had similar half-pipe special stages to the Saturn version but the graphics were unfortunately massively downgraded in comparison.

This show is a guilty pleasure. Knuckles is my favorite Sonic character, and this show...is not the reason for it ^^ But it's very odd and dumb, and I enjoyed it.

Sonic Spinball is an ugly game with crap colors, graphics and crap music. When this game was released, I knew it was time for a new generation of consoles.

All the cursing reminds me of when younger siblings want to show you their game they like. But they can tell you're not really into it, so they start really overexaggerating basic observations of the gameplay and emphasize every little part of the gameplay with the new curses they just started saying last year.

I loved this game so much. And the first level’s theme is stuck in my head.

I never played this as a kid, so I decided to give it a try on my Abernic 35xx plus... could only get one emerald!! I felt kinda like I was trapped right in the beginning, but I'll give it a better attempt later. ...tried again 5 hours later & I beat level 1!!

I beat this countless times as a kid, but today I learned something new while watching another video: when you collect every single ring in a level, a spinning portal opens up in the middle of the level, and it gives you access to new pinball machine minigames, just like the ones you get between levels, but totally different ones. Now I wanna play the game again just to get those! Excellent spinoff game.

This was my very first game when Santa brought me a Sega Genesis in 1993. Fond memories for sure!

This game was made in two months.

I had this game and HATED it at first. One day I sat down and actually got used to the perspective and my opinion of it lightened up a bunch. It's not a bad game and I did ultimately enjoy my time with it, just had to get used to it first.

Cool video. I had the game but never got very far in it. The 30fps is a drag though, I wonder if there's a romhack to make it 60fps ? Probably the first time I realized a game was running "slower" than usual. Will check out more of your videos.

Gosh this was a heck of a game to boot up on Sonic Mega Collection as a kid lmao. I own it in physical as part of my collection now but only ever got up to the second stage. Maybe I'll finish it someday. VERY unnerving though although I unironically consider the pause music a bop
