I am DEFINITELY going to be using that quote at 7:50. I'm tired of people with nothing better to do with their lives than to obsess over beating the hardest difficulty, being the only ones devs will cater to. I have a job and a life, and things are difficult enough without injecting frustration into my escape FROM life's frustrations. Just let me play some f*cking games and make your own challenges, like not jumping or something.
Use to love the Sonic games when I was a kid which were mainly Heroes, Shadow TH and Sonic Riders for the PS2 and the classic 2D ones S1,2,3&Knuckles which I had on my old PC. Only found out about the Adventures games a couple months ago, downloaded them on my Xbox 360 and been having a blast on them!!! Can confirm they’re my favourite Sonic games atm Sick games for late 90’s and early 2000’s
My dad had a subscription to PC Zone back when I was about 10, and I would read everything CB wrote, even reviews for games I had no interest in. He’d have me in stitches. When I learned later that he was writing for ODM, I subscribed to that myself. Now he’s a household name, appearing on The Simpsons. He’s definitely my “I knew the dog before he came to class” celebrity.
Was only 3 when this review was written and in the US, so I definitely wouldn't have seen this. Not that I was even aware of Sonic. But still, the review gave me a strange sense of nostalgia! And it was hilarious. If only more reviews were like this haha
Yep, it kind of makes me want to go track down some of his other non-SEGA PC Zone reviews from back in the day to see if they were as funny as this one. Thank you for watching!
For some reason, I'm sure I had issue 1 myself, as it feels sorta familiar seeing it. Not 100%, but I remember it came with a VHS lol (with the label spanning the entire cassette width), showing trailers for a load of games. I may even still have that too lol. But if not, I did have 'a' Dreamcast Magazine that came with a VHS haha.
Maybe you had this same issue as I believe this came with a VHS too? But there was definitely an unofficial DC magazine that came with a VHS so it could be that one. Bloody hell... Taping a VHS cassette to the front of a magazine to showcase game trailers... How times have changed! 😁
@@HillTopTerebi ooh it could be?? (frantically searches the old empty void that is my brain). I remember it having the words "Dream On Preview" on there, with the "On" being in blue. Trying to find an image of this is sketchy at best. I must of watched it sooo many times to see the Sonic Adventure trailer. And haha certainly not wrong! Dont you just miss the 90s?! Though i kinda miss that, big chunky free media. Cant of been cheap to produce when compared to a free disk or something (dunno why it it reminded me of the weird free gifts STC would give away in their dying days - like fleetway had raided a pound shop for gifts) Anyway, Funnily enough, I've began collecting obscure VHS (mainly animation and gaming) as a sort of media preservation hobby. Man I'd love to find that Dreamcast Tape!

Man the 90s were a simpler time you'd never get a review like this these days
We call the animated story bits in games "cut scenes" or "cinematics" not "cinemas".
I thought that too. I don't ever remember hearing them being called "cinemas" either.
Charlie Brooker is always a treat. I loved screenwipe

Lmao it's a great quote isn't it.

That's awesome! Glad to hear they hold up for people recently experiencing them for the first time. That's awesome!
what an amazing review lol, I wish more reviews were written like this now, whether the game is good or bad :)
He's got an amazing way with words!
Gotta love Charlie!
Sounds like a typical 90s review; full of attempted humour for the kiddies and lots of padding for exta adverts.
Amazing.😂
Thank you for bringing this to us / reminding us. ❤️

I just found sonic adventure dreamcast game at abandoned mobile home in 2010.

Neat Best of the Best 4 name drop there.
That movie series is actually one of my favorites.
the video starts at 2:00
It does! Unless you need context as to who Charlie Brooker is. 😉
