Hello and welcome to Hill Top Terebi! In this video we're going to take a look back and some of my favourite pieces of 90s Sonic The Hedgehog merch... SONIC & KNUCKLES COLLECTABLES from TOMY.
Released in newsagents across the UK back in 1994, these super-rare, shoddily-painted collectable figures hold a special place in my heart as they were the very first time we ever got figures of the enemies from the Sonic The Hedgehog video game series. And in some cases, these are the ONLY figures available of some of these badniks.

I honestly feel like badniks are underrated
We actually got a few badnik toys in 2011 with Sonic Generations merch, prior to the kidrobot ones in 2016.
Sega and Tomy based these figures on the Sonic & Knuckles (With S&K logo) game but the badniks are from Sonic 1.
It's stuff like this that makes me wonder why sega hasn't done sonic blindbags?
A collection of sonic characters, badnick's and accessories that span between all the games and even cool sets based on the bosses and eggmobile battles.
I can even imagine the blindbags having characters like sonic, tails, werehog sonic, infinite, zavok, etc... and some badnicks who come with powerup boxes, rings or some zone parts (like trees, a land block for displays or maybe a projectile to hold?
The big sets could come with some unique recolors of existing badnicks, a fill base to display and play with them (which the blind bag accessories can be put on or swapped out for) and the eggmobile sets (featuring different eggmobiles from the games, so you'll get a differen design per) having their own swappable boss mechanic parts and even a different eggman to ride inside; or if you want, a blindbag character like mecha sonic or eggrobo to recreate other moments from the games!
I'm glad we have more sonic around today, but I feel they're just scratching the surface of it's potential.
I love how each of your videos unlocks shockingly vivid memories that had previously been long dormant!!! I'd totally forgotten about these and used to search high and low for them too!

I got given one of the Chopper figures by a mate in school and still have it today. He said the figure came with Quiz Kids Magazine. I've always wondered what the Sonic and Tails figures were like as I can't fault the quality on the Chopper one.
The TOMY Sonic & Knuckles line is truly wonderful. Selection of characters and paint jobs may just seem completely ridiculous, but I feel that’s what gives this set their charm and that’s why I’m going after them. As of typing this, I now have 11/20 in the set including Sonic crossing his arms, both Robotnik variants, Tails, Knuckles, Metal Sonic, Roller, Ballhog, Buzzbomber, Spike and Crabmeat.
It’s really a shame that this set had a VERY limited release, there are so many possibilities with this line that I wonder if we could’ve also gotten Sonic 2 badniks like Grounder and Coconuts or even Super Sonic replacing one of the Sonic variants.
I would have loved that! Super Sonic is a great shout and its strange they didn't include him given how there were multiple Sonics in the set. Badniks from other games would have been great too. Between us we almost have a full set... Still missing a Motobug. My favourite badnik! These toys definitely deserved a wider release.
I had two packs of these that came free with some magazine which funny enough wasn't STC like you'd expect! Burrobot and Caterkiller, wish I still had them! These combined with the McDonalds and burger king toys was all I had to play with 😂 Kids these days don't know how lucky they are with the Death Egg robot playsets!
Haha they really don't know how good they've got it. If I could show child-me they Sonic merch available in 2022 I would have LOST MY MIND!! 😁
