I love the idea of school kids teasing eachother over technical specs on consoles that they just wouldn't have known or understood during that time. "Hey! Terebi! Nice console! Enjoy those twin CPU's and non-polygonal tecture mapping! Sega sure does have triangles eh?"
I can vaguely remember seeing one of the Sonic Championship cabinets when I was very young. I also remember that it was gone by the next day. I’m still somewhat unsure if I did or not, but I remember when Sonic Gems Collection originally came out I was confused about it being called Sonic the Fighters. Oddly enough it would have been somewhere in the Northeastern US around Pennsylvania, New York or New Jersey because I never traveled farther then that until 2013
That must have been so exciting. A really shame they didn't do a home port. I guess they had trouble doing the squashy physics on Saturn. How was SegaWorld? I wanted to go so badly as a kid haha.
This game is one of the best 3d fighting game of the 90s. The competive community of this game is really amazing (Sunset Showdown tournament is one of the best i ever seen).
I remember very vaguely, and I believe it was in Hamleys store in London. That was my first experience with SegaSonic. Probably only had one turn. It was awesome and still to this day we can’t play that legitimately. Never saw this game in the arcade though.
I'm impressed you found one! That's amazing. Speaking of SegaSonic, did you ever find SegaSonic the arcade game? That's another one I have never found. Tried to find it a few places in Japan unsuccessfully.
Sorry that’s what I meant SegaSonic the Hedgehog (arcade) that’s one I played. Never say the fighting game. Yes living in Japan I wonder if I’ll ever come across them. I played Nintendo Punchout in the arcade, thought that would be a hard find these days.
I remember seeing it on a "Top 10 Worst Fighting Games" list, back in the day, which surprised me, as I thought it was one of the more fun Sonic spin-off titles
I remember coming across a cabinet at my arcade/fun zone--I had no idea the game even existed before that. I could barely believe what I was seeing. I often wonder if I would have picked up a Saturn instead of an N64 if this game out on home consoles.
When i finally played somic the fighters off the gem collection, honestly.... IDK definitely saw the appeal but I didn't get into it. Picked it up 360 too though.🤷🏻♂️
Someone make a homebrew Sonic The Fighters Saturn port for this poor man!
Great video of a great game. I love this game so much. Thanks for this mate

Hahahaha! Yep! Kids can be so cruel when it comes to console specs.
@@HillTopTerebi "Nice Sega Saturn Quads... NOT!"
I love the character models in this game and the amount of squash and stretch they animate with.

One of those "Did I actually see that? Or was it a dream?" kinda memories, eh? I have several of those haha. Cheers for watching!
I did see it at Segaworld in London! It was awesome... The lack of a homeport was a tragedy when the Saturn badly needed more Sonic...

Woah - that must have been mind-blowing if you didn't even know it existed. Awesome!
I always wanted to play it when ever I saw pics, but I had already moved on to Nintendo by that point and didn't end up getting a Saturn.
wusstunes did a 2 hour documentary on the game's meta
I used to think Bean was a flicky
Pengo was supposed to be in the game je's from a Sega arcade game of the same name. Dataminers found a 3d model of him
