Sonic Superstars Reveal - First Reaction! Where did this come from?!

Hello and welcome to the channel. This is a departure from my usual style of video as I was winding down for the evening and about to go to bed and... well... THIS GAME TRAILER DROPPED. So I felt had to put together this completely off the cuff reaction to the mind-blowing reveal of a brand new, 4 player 2D Sonic game called SONIC SUPERSTARS. WHERE DID THIS COME FROM?!
This completely caught me off-guard. I had no idea this was coming! So here’s my honest reaction and first thoughts on this brand new Sonic The Hedgehog game!

I've been waiting for a 2D co-op Sonic game where the second player doesn't need to struggle as much to keep up with the camera. This looks pretty good!
That's true! Finally a way to proper play a co-op Sonic 'campaign' with other people! Even if it doesn't control exactly like the classics (maybe it will, but I'm expecting it won't). Hoping it'll be a great multiplayer fun time!
I saw the announcement last night and I immediately thought " I wonder if Hilltop has seen this?" Lol. Anyway, every time I hear the word "reimagined" I automatically get nervous. However I does look okay, and I'm happy at least, that there using classic sonic, with brand new stages. However, like yourself, I crave for the next pixel art installment. But, the proof will be in the pudding, as they say - or chilly dog - because who knows, there could be more to this than meets the eye (for exampl, what was the point in showing us Nack/Fang twice, in pixel art only?) . All I know is, I'm definitely game for this one!
I am warming to Sonic Superstars more and more as the day goes on. I agree (as usual!) with everything you've said. Great to see new stages and not rehashes. RE: Nack/Fang - I wonder if 'crossing over' from 2D to 3D will be a plot point? As we see the 2D models in 3D during that weird jelly fish (?!) bit in the trailer haha. I think if we go in not expecting it to play just like classic Sonic, we could all be in for a good time. It looks LOVELY - that's for sure!
@@HillTopTerebi That's what I was thinking; it could be a 2d to 2.5D crossover (in a similar vein that Generation was 2.5D to 3D). It would be awesome if the stages where replayable in pure 2D pixel art ;) but I dont wanna get too ahead of myself!
I hope this is going to be a physical release too!

when I saw this trailer yesterday, it just blew me up. For the moment i think Sonic Superstars will be that, what Sonic 4 should have been so long ago. I hope that when Sonic Superstars will be a huge success, we´ll get a PLUS DLC with more playable characters like Team Chaotix, Shadow, Silver or even Barry the Quokka from Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog.
Oh yeah! That would so so cool!! This really feels like one you could pack full of DLC characters! I would LOVE to see Chaotix in the game. And Ray! And Metal Sonic! (Although he may well be a boss.) My hype for this game has grown as the day has gone on, and now you have me excited for potential DLC characters! 😁
@@HillTopTerebi Wow thanks for the comment. You see, my Idea for the DLC came up, when I saw good old Fang. I thought that maybe he could be a playable character after his last big role in Sonic the Fighter from 1996. Maybe Metal could be an unlockable character at all after the first walktrough, with his own storyline. We will all find out soon enough..

I like it but I really wish they would just stick to Mania style graphics and gameplay.
Sonic 1, 2, 3, Knuckles, CD and Mania are all FANTASTIC GAMES with very little criticism. As soon as they moved away from classic gameplay, quality has been rocky at best.
Surely it’s pretty obvious what works best by now?

gonna be real, i'm a bit disappointed, because i wanted a modern cast 2D game, Advance/Rush style, not a classic one...
but i'm happy too, the game looks great, i hope i like this one, since i didn't liked mania

I hope this one does not disappoint for you. I don't think it will control exactly like classic Sonic - I think it will probably be something new inspired by classic Sonic. Seems the goal is to appeal to both old and new Sonic fans. Hopefully they'll pull it off! I was slightly disappointed for the opposite reason - Mania is my favourite Sonic game and I wanted more of that 😅 - maybe Superstars will appeal to both of us when it released. At least it is visually fantastic!
