    I just realized something about the Chaos Emeralds in AOSTH.
    There were 4 known Chaos Emeralds, a secret 5th Emerald and a possible 6th Emerald seen on Sonic's ancestor. This further connects the concept of Sonic 1 having only Six Chaos Emeralds
    My guess on the 5th Emerald is that it can Create and destroy Landscapes
    And for the Possible 6th Emerald it could give you an energy Shield that gives an immunity to the other Emeralds powers

      The 5h emerald reminds me of the Master Emerald. Instead of making chunks of landmass float, it sinks them into the ocean. It the "extra in the set" (of 4 instead of 7). It's meant to be place on a secret altar (a la Hidden Palace Zone).
      However, Sonic 3 (let alone Sonic & Knuckles) wouldn't be relesed until a year later after the episode's first airing, so this is all just a nice little coincidence. ^_^

      @@HillTopTerebi There were episodes of AoStH (including the unaired Pilot) where Robotnik is riding a Drill Mobile of sorts. It feels like a weird hybrid between the Drill Pods from Sonic 2 and 3; the latter being the version that lacked wheels. I'm guessing what happened with the episode "Untouchable Sonic" is that the writer intended for it to be Roller and Ball Hog from the games, just dressed as gangsters for the shake of the Untouchables parody, but the storyboard artists didn't know they were from the games, and so designed the characters' model sheets based only on how they were describe in the script.
    Maybe the stript mentioned how they look but not their spieces, assuming everyone would already know what they are meant to be, which would explain why Roller looks so different and yet still retains his horns in substitution for the ears real armadillos had, and maybe the script said something like "He then transformed into a ball" and if you were a character deisgner who didn't know what he was meant to be, you might assume it's some sorta magic looking kinda thing, and maybe if you're looking a visual gag to toss in there, you draw it as a bowling ball. Meanwhile Ballhog was probably stated to be short and fat, with big eyes and a scrawny tail, if you assumed the "hog" in his name refered to only his weight, and wasn't literal, you might end up with something like that.
    Yea, I'm sure it was something along those lines, some misunderstanding between the different people working on the show trying to make the deadline.

    Nice video! Despite the creative liberties going on, there were quite a few game references (although the Mario cartoons take that crown). I can recall a few more references that weren't covered. The end of the intro, Sonic, and Tails pose together in a circle similar to Sonic 2's title screen. The Jump sfx and the Collected Ring sfx can be heard in one part in "Grounder the Genius" coming from the character Hacker's computer halfway in the beginning of the episode. A badnik couple who I thought were based on the "Buzz Bomber" badnik, show up after disguising themselves as Tails' Parents in "Tails New Home". They are later tied by their fake Tails by Sonic and after a bit of trying to break free...combine to turn into a random "Antran" Apple Sauce can. There...are no badniks named Antran however. So despite their badnik design (at least as far as this show goes), they might be original creations! O.o;

      @@HillTopTerebi I’d argue that some of the creative liberties in AoStH ended up being referenced in future Sonic games, for better or worse. Here are some examples.
      1. The “Egg-0-Matic Tunnelizer and Town Terrorizer", which can be seen in a few episodes, looks like it was used as a basis for the Egg-Drill Pod from Sonic 3, as both have a singular drill; however, Sonic 3’s Egg-Drill Pod can change the positions of the drill from front to back.
      2. the first In-Game Sonic cast (in Sonic Adventure 1) has Sonic, Tails and Eggman share a similar cadence to AoStH’s casting.
      3. In the same game (Adventure 1), there’s a Badnik called Kiki, which bares a resemblance to Sonic 2’s Coconuts (or Aiai in Japan); However, Kiki has monkey-like ears that are more similar to the AoStH Coconuts.
      4. Sonic Rush Adventure features a Robot by the name of Captain Whisker. He’s meant to be a Pirate Robot version of Eggman, but he resembles more to Blackbot, despite Blackbot losing facial hair in the midst of Roboticization.
      5. Sonic fights a Black Knight in the titular game. However, Sonic and the Black Knight felt like a bad version of “Hedgehog of the Hound Table”; because while Sonic is dubbed the “True” King Arthur in the game, AoStH Sonic has a more fitting role: “The Holy Hedgehog”; which is more appropriate for Sonic, because Sonic as a character worked better as an opposing force against an abuse in power, rather than being in control and abusing said power.
      6. While not part of the mainline of games, Sonic Boom has a design of Eggman that is reminiscent of Robotnik’s Wartime outfit from Lovesick Sonic, complete with a change in girth.
      7. Of all the games to make an explicit reference, the infamously bad Sonic Forces actually took a scene directly from "Lovesick Sonic"; Sonic runs across a giant snake, who then eats him, only to be spat out because of what Sonic did to the snake's mouth.

    A few notes:
    * In the Tom Payne Archive (one of Sega Of America's graphical backups), there's a collection of Sonic 1 badniks using the game's default palette. Chopper appears yellow in these graphics.
    * Ball Hog's coloration in the show is closer to that of their appearance in Sonic 2 8-Bit.
    * The 5th Emerald and its island sinking powers likely refer to the Master Emerald and how it holds up Angel Island.
    * Spinball itself mixes in characters from AoStH (Scratch, Pink Sally from Christmas Blast), SATAM (The other Freedom Fighters, that monkey I think), and the games proper (Crawl, Clucker)

      Agreed on the intro - definitely a nod to the half pipe I reckon.
      Also...
      😮!!! I have never noticed that in the intro music!! 😮!!!
      Thank you for your comment!

    The TV show Scratch and Grounder are watching in "Untouchable Sonic" is also a clip from the Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog Pilot Episode.
    Edit: I made this before you said it was from the pilot in actually video sorry about that.

    If this is mentioned before, sorry for that - but that songstress (Cattie, I think) sings and uses Invincibility music.

    • @nthgth
      @nthgth 2 года назад +1

      She just puts lyrics to the show's theme song. The theme song is in turn based on the title theme from the first two games, and the invincibility music in those games was also based on that title theme.

    You missed one in terms of zones. The episode "High Stakes Sonic" was about Robotnik's Casino Night Zone which he mentions by name. I think the Casinoville title was used in "The Mobius 5000" for this reason.

    Actually, unlike Grounder and Coconuts, Scratch has no direct Badnik basis found in Sonic the Hedgehog 2, although Sonic the Hedgehog Encyclo-speed-ia states he is loosely based off Clucker, a Badnik in the Wing Fortress Zone. The show's bible and a few episodes of the show depict Scratch manning a turret with egg bomb projectiles, similar to Clucker

    They should have aired the unaired pilot tbh and then made the first aired episode the second episode or something. Maybe explaining g how they got there. The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog is an amazing show, but the backdrops look like abstract art pieces, not in a good way.

    • @Star_Mans_Legacy
      @Star_Mans_Legacy 2 года назад

      @@secoTheSonicFan Yeah I see what you mean. But I like their idea with the original making it more closer to the original game with the back drop while making it the way it already serves with its cartoony- ness. Seeing Sonic run through Greenhill zone and seeing the original badniks is a pretty nice sight. Whether they decided to continue it with their original pilot idea or just served it as an introduction to where he enters the Mobius we see throughout the show would be fine. And it is fine the way it is but it’d be pretty cool still if they aired it.

    I have one criticism. You showing your animated character picture doing the same pose and facial expression makes this video look cheap. If it weren't for the Dreamcast controller, I would've thought it was a clipart character. No offense.

      None taken. It's a fair point. I'm constantly thinking whether I should set up a small studio and appear on camera at some point instead of using the avatar. We'll see what happens! Cheers!

    No offense, but can you please keep your sona out of the video? It really annoys me when people shoehorn their cartoon selves into most of the video. I want to watch the *VIDEO,* not stare at their sona taking up a big chunk of the screen. Having them at like the start and ending of the video is okay as those segments don't usually contain elements of the video's topic. I know you mean well, but that RUclipsr trope just *really* gets on my nerves.
