Welcome to my metal detecting channel! I'll be bringing you on my detecting adventures as I save history from wasting away in the ground. My passion is searching for colonial and early American relics and coins, and my influences include Aquachigger, Green Mountain Metal Detecting, The Hoover Boys, and Quarter Hoarder, to name a few. They collectively inspired me to make my own channel a reality, and I am so glad I did!

Great channel, ty 😊
Thank you, I appreciate that! 😊
My first guess on the piece you found at the 10:30 mark could be an old tin/pewter hand mirror. Nice video as always. Cheers. -John
Thank you! It doesn’t seem to have a recessed area for the glass, but it’s pretty corroded so who knows!
Scissors
Forgot to add, fun vid and cool stuff you found. Really enjoy having my morning coffee in Oz and watching your adventure digging stuff. ❤️😀🦘🇦🇺
Thank you! Always nice to hear something like that! 😊
At 5:30 could it be a hot water bottle stopper
Could be! I’m seeing a lot of “drain plug” comments, but it could’ve had multiple applications.
Interesting finds!
Thanks!
@StefDigs what are those pieces of porcelain with the blue patterns? I find them all the time
Parts of dishes, teacups, saucers, you name it - it’s all household tableware from centuries ago! I don’t always find a large enough piece to determine the style, though. Larger pieces are much easier to pin down to a specific time frame.
How's it going Stef. Hope your Christmas and New Year was amazing awesome one. Enjoyed watching you and Nicki Digging with The Quarter Hoarder and crew. The Dandy Button Nicki found is Beautiful. The Klog piece you found I've not seen before. Very cool find. Love where your detecting at. The Relics you found there is as old as the Relics I find back west. Love the Victorian Pin. The Tray handle you found nice. I seen the episode Brad had out when he found his. Congrats on all your finds. Take Care Stef Crazie Digging
Thank you! My videos of the Cape Cod trip are coming up soon. 😊 Happy New Year!
Fantastic stuff. Would like to see a tour of your relic room and favorite finds. Just an idea. Stay dirty 👍
Once it’s not just stacks of Riker boxes and paper plates, a video tour is in order! 😆
Nice vid my friend, so many cool relics! That Argentinian coin would've given me a coronary!
Thank you! That thing was a gut punch… 🤣
Great dig there Stef. You came across some great stuff. Should still be some more goodies still in the ground waiting for your return. Good luck mate 🦘🦘😁👍
Thanks Andrew! That site has been producing consistently since 2018, but usually I’ll only get a few good hunts in a row and then it dries up until we get a good New England frost heave, hah! I’ll be back there in the Spring.
I buy corrosion coin for cheaper and clean them up myself with the pencils they r awesome
They’re fun to use! I generally only resort to them if a toothpick doesn’t do the trick, but they’ve also helped me clean relics. Quite versatile!
Great historical finds 😊
Thank you!
Great Video and nice finds. Thank you for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Hi Steff,It's a Paint ceramic pan,Great finds Steff.
It sure is, I’m glad someone IDed it before I put the video up! I wish I could remember who it was!
Sweet Digs Stef, I enjoy watching your videos....can't wait for the ground to thaw up here!
Thank you! I’m waiting right along with you, the ground is rough right now!
pewter spoons were made in the 1750's-1810's what are you hoping to find this year.
Much wider timeframe, actually - roughly 1690-1850, there’s quite a spread. I’m hoping for a Capped Bust half dollar, 18th century silver or gold of any kind, the usual stuff that remains on my bucket list lol.
Looks like a little paint pan
That’s what it is! 😊
What a great site! Everything you found was so interesting and completely different from each other. It's a bonus to be in New England because there is the potential for finding older things as well. I can't wait to see what you find the next time you go there! ❤
Thanks Elisabeth! Look at me, finally plowing through the comments! 😆 I look forward to going back to that site after a good frost heave. The last time I went, it was getting pretty quiet. Always lights back up again, though!
Great Stuff Stef, Thanks, Take Care, Happy New Year, Nathan.
Thanks Nathan!
Tell everybody that cruet tray handle was part of an Egyptian ankh.
Hahahahaha, oh god. 🤣 If I didn’t pride myself on doing my best to provide accurate IDs, I would RUN with this. 😂
Aluminum bronze is an alloy of aluminum and copper. As you can see, it is more durable than copper plated zinc.
Definitely more durable! I don’t think any American coins were made from the alloy - at least it was one I was unfamiliar with.
Those 2 pieces look like a Grolsch bottle top.
Could be, for sure! I’ll have to look at those!
The button looking item at around 5:30 is the stopper to a blob top beer bottle. A wire bale would have gone through the shank and around the bottle neck
I’m reading several comments along the same lines, so I think you’re onto something! Thanks! 😊
I really like spoon bowl. Very lovely 😍 thanks Stef!!😊
Thank you! 😊
Getting A Manticore shortly...what basic settings do you have? Happy hunting!
Awesome! Shoot me an email (see pinned comment), it’s easier for me to give you the full rundown of settings. I think RUclips would cut off my comment due to the length, haha.
Another beautiful video to help me relax tonight 😊.
Thank you! Glad to hear that! 😊
Hi Stef- thanks for the video, love your channel- As a fellow female detectorist, other than letting people know where you are going, do you take any other steps to stay safe when you’re alone in the woods? I found a couple spots in the woods near my home in WI that I want to explore next spring so just want to do the right thing to stay safe.
Thank you for the kind words! Yes, I carry a knife and pepper spray on me at all times. Apart from that, I carry a backpack with the essentials in case I were to get lost out there (2.5 liter water bladder, TP, solar powerbank, extra layers, etc). People laugh at me for never taking my backpack off lol, but it gives me a strong sense of security (my knife is clipped onto one of the arm straps!).
At 17:28 it's a tube hinge on the brooch so thats definitely 19th c as you said 😊🎉
Thank you! I remembered my friend Nancy (the helpful one in ID ME who truly knows her stuff) IDing pieces like this for me in the past, and it was generally the clasp that would help her provide a date range. I knew it looked familiar! 😊
Great video! I love that you showed mens sock garters. Folks seem to forget that garter is a non-gendered term. 🎉🎉
Stopper my bet
I would say so!
At 5:30 it's the remains of a sink or bathtub stopper
Or it could have a number of applications, as a wise man told me recently. 😉
Really cool history Step fun hunt
Thank you!
Mystery find may be a swing-top for a bottle. I think the shank-like part on the top worked in a similar way to the ceramic ones that swing from the sides like you find on old beer bottles. I’ve definitely seen one like this on an old bottle like this before, but I can’t remember what type of bottle they were used with. Possibly hot water bottle. I found an image, but evidently cannot attach it here. I’ll email it.
Thank you, Jon! Just saw your email (I went “dark” online for a few days, lots going on at home!). I think you’re correct - appreciate it very much!
Your mystery find first struck me as a sink plug? A chain would have been attached.
Could be - seems small even for a sink, but I can’t say I’m well versed on turn-of-the-century bathroom or kitchen fixtures, hah!
Was that plug thing maybe a stopper for a water canteen ? 🤔
Possibly? I’m hearing a lot of “bottle stopper” comments, and someone emailed me an example. That seems to be the best match so far!
5:40 = Sink drain plug. 6:50 porcelain disk could be more bathroom hardware?
I’m on the fence with that first piece, it seems to most closely match a bottle stopper. The porcelain piece is a watercolor tray insert, I IDed it in the video.
Love it!! Thanks for video recommendations for the manticore, so far very happy with new machine.
That’s awesome, very glad to hear that! It’s a great machine!
Nice hunt, always pays to revisit sites. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching! 😊
Another great video Stef. I wonder if the family succumbed to illness,😞,thus leaving everything behind ..small pox and tb were pretty rampant in the late 19th century…and on a less morbid note, Happy New Year! wishing you a year of good health and an abundance of fantastic finds!…(also I see a ring one your left hand..engaged/married? If so congratulations 👍🏼….Jill from Michigan
Thank you, Jill! I do wonder why it seems they took off in a hurry - then again, people were far more wasteful 100 years ago versus 300 years ago, which is why those older sites are more sparse. The ring was actually my mother’s everyday ring. When I was going through her jewelry after she passed, I casually put it on. It happened to fit on my left ring finger, and it’s the only finger it fits on, lol! I only take it off to dig now. ❤️
@@StefDigs it’s a very pretty ring and a nice memento from your mom❤️..looking forward to more videos in the coming year. All the best ✌🏼Jill
I recognized the candle holder from Instagram. I think the thing with the Shank, that’s not a button, is an old drain plug for a tub or sink.
Yes, that’s the one! Was so stoked to have that ID! 😄 I’m seeing a majority consensus of bottle stopped for that drain plug looking thing, lol. Could’ve been either, honestly!
Nice digs!!! Thanks for taking us along!
Thanks for coming along! 😊
yeah sink stopper
Could be a bottle stopper, as well. Was looking at some examples based on the comments and it seems to be the closest match!
5:48 looks like a drain plug missing the rubber
There’s still some rubber attached - it’s looking more like a bottle stopper based on some brief Googling from the comments here, lol. Could’ve been one or the other!
So proud of myself by guessing the candlestick before you ID'd it. Guess that means I'm old 😉 I believe that find you thought was a bottle cap, would be my guess as well. Think Grolsch beer. Another fun video. Thanks Stef!
Haha, it’s funny, I remembered a tin example I have at home when I dug it (an antique my mom purchased years ago), but thought “nah, this is too heavy for a candlestick.” I’ll be darned! 😆
FYI, while there was no "fighting" there, in 1944 Argentina was an ally of Germany in everything but name. Consequently, we did have a covert presence there with the FBI, OSS and some say the ONI. Guessing the mystery piece is a cap (lantern?) with an eyelet for the tether. This episode was both fun and informative!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it! Appreciate the history you provided, as well! 😊
Totally unrelated to the video , but what's your opinion on the M9 coil compared to the M11? Is there really a noticeable difference in separation ability? Also is the depth comparable? The biggest difference I can see is that it shouldn't get hung up on things like the M11 does when hunting in areas where there is stubble and limbs on the ground. I've never used one but could see that being a big advantage.
I’ve found the M9 to get comparable depth to the M11, and much improved target separation. That said, I do NOT have a test garden set up in my yard, so this is uncontrolled experimentation and strictly based on my own observations in the field. The weight difference feels huge! The machine is far better balanced, and I don’t feel like I’m losing a lot of ground coverage even though it’s a 2” difference. I’ve taken the M9 off maybe twice in 6 months for the M11, so that tells you I’m a fan! If you’re going to be playing in iron or trashy areas but want to feel that you’re not losing depth, M9 is the way to go.
Sink stopper
Either that or a bottle stopper - based on the split comments, I should probably throw a survey up, lol!
Sweet finds, thanks for taking us along.
Thanks for coming along!
