Great hunt, loved the history about the button! Sometimes it's more exciting to find the history of an item than to actually dig it. Thanks for sharing, good luck on your next hunt 👍
Amazing history right there from one small button. It is a ball tearer and will look great in your collection. Good day out Stef. Glad you had good luck on your next hunts. Take care mate 🦘🦘😁👍
BUTTONS!!! 🥰 I would be happy to find even one of those! Thank you for the added history of Boulton and his contribution to buttons, it was so interesting! I love how such a small, insignificant item can have so much history behind it. Thank you for another amazing video! ❤
Thanks Elisabeth! Just had to share the history behind that button - amazing to think what was going on at the mint when that was made! PS, BONE is officially confirmed. 😁
@@StefDigs I 100% agree with how amazing it is to think about what was going on when that was made and YAY!!! I'm so glad to hear you'll be at BONE!! I'm looking forward to seeing you! 😍❤
Hi Stef, you are lucky to have the amount of buttons you are able to find. Us on the West coast don’t have the history to have allot of buttons. We dig some rivets and such but at least it is easier to tell coins I guess. Thanks for taking us along on your adventure… John
Stef, I will take history over a coin anytime. And you have a knack for digging items of real historical value. And after all, you do get (at least) your share of great coins, which I love to see. What I am clumsily attempting to say is there is never reason for you to apologize. BTW, I noticed you are now over 5K subs; Congrats!
Gotta keep you guys guessing a -little- bit! 😂 I found it so interesting that the button was tied to Boulton. Was a cool way to learn about his life and the industrial progress of Great Britain!
Signals tend to disappear when you disturb the ground. Simply because rusty nails or bits of metal create what they call an Aura/Ora. Rust or other metal will leach into the ground creating a signal an aura our metal detectors pick up. Once we disturb the ground these auras are broken up and the signal goes away. 😉😊 Happy Hunting!
That is correct, to a point. I don’t believe there was iron in this hole. However I suppose just as with the iron halo effect, other metals can certainly have the same end result when you open the hole and hear nothing when you KNOW it’s there. 😆 That iron halo is the reason we will always dig bent nails - because it “could be” treasure, lol! Thanks for watching! 😊
Hey Stef, great video! That button is fantastic! I appreciate you sharing what your research "unearths" (see what I did there?) :) Also, Happy, Happy Birthday to you, Thursday!
Stef, as always a very entertaining and informative video, why then dont we aee more Cartwheel pennies found? Or did the money minted get aent back to England. Keep it up Stef..luv ya!!
@@ChristianThomas-wf5dl we never see cartwheels in the US, possibly because we had started using our own federally-issued cents in 1793 (at least that’s my best guess). I’ve seen maybe half a dozen found in 7 years? I managed a 1799 halfpenny which is a rare find here. The British halfpennies are almost the same size and weight as a large cent, so after we established a mint and before British currency was demonetized in 1857 in the US, I suspect the halfpennies were used as full pennies. Basically, in the colonial era, the US got whatever the British decided give us. 🤷🏼😂 Thanks for watching!
@@ChristianThomas-wf5dl can’t remember if she’s in the pipeline of footage I currently have - but she’s always around, so I’m sure she’ll turn up again soon!
Thank you! Yes, I’ve noticed quite the uptick… I didn’t even mean to make a pun before I typed that. 😂 I’ve been spraying my clothes with permethrin and wearing peppermint oil, too - works well! 😊
Haha, well that’s good! I actually edited out a bunch of REALLY loud zooms, lol. Just one of those irritations when you’re digging on the side of the road - constant reminder you’re not in colonial America. 😂

Beautiful button Stef! Thank you for the history on it, most of us detect for the history of it, so having you give us a lesson is a treat.
Thanks so much, Joe! Always love to hear that people appreciate the history lessons I slip into the videos! 😊
OUTSTANDING!!!

As if the gilted button wasn't amazing enough, the background lesson was equally impressive- well done Stef! Looking forward to next week already!
