Hi Stef, a real button fest to start with. The Indian brass bead was a nice find and then your half penny is also special. Good luck on your trip, can’t wait to see what you find… John
Some awesome finds Stef! I had a button spill at a 1700s house that had multiple buttons in a 5 foot area that was 3 different buttons and about 6-8 of each one. It was awesome. Nice hibernia, they are so awesome! Sweet buckle piece too! Wicked happy hunting! 🫂
Thanks Chris! I pulled 7 buttons out of one hole next to a well in the woods once - I think that’s my personal record. 😆 They must’ve been doing laundry, hah!
@StefDigs thats so much fun! 😆 there's probably a washing board there somewhere 🤣 I got a new permission yesterday and I'm heading there today. Some colonial farm field and the owner has a cellar hole on property that he is going to fill soon! I hunted a field next to it a few years ago and got shoe buckle parts and dandy buttons so I'm hoping that is a good thing for this place!
That is one incredible site you've got there! Excellent presentation and finds, well done my friend. Good luck on your trip- hoping to see you return with more amazingness!!
Nice hunt! Love the Woods Hibernia! I dug a Woods Hibernia farthing a few weeks ago. It was a complete surprise because I found it in a trashy area of the school campus where I work. It’s my oldest coin so far. Cheers from Bridgeport!
Thank you! Glad you got out - it’s all a balance of good days and ones that aren’t as fruitful, lol. Nobody sees the days where I find next to nothing. 😂
I'm curious to know your thoughts on why that first area has so many buttons compared to other artifacts. It seems like an excessive amount compared to what you would normally find. Congrats on the Hibernia - it turned out really nice! Have a wonderful and safe trip and I'm looking forward to seeing your videos from it! ❤
Thank you! Truly virgin sites hold dozens upon dozens of buttons - the last virgin site I found, I lost count after I hit 74 buttons I believe? Most coats at the time contained a few dozen buttons alone! Factor in shirts and other garments, and there’s your answer!
@@StefDigs Crazy! It's too bad the sites at the events I attend are so picked over - I would love to have even a few hours at an undetected site! Glad you found one and can share it with us! 😊
That gold button was really cool. Show buttons all day long! Delay is ok here I’ll be in Key Weird… I mean West😂. I’m a little jonesing after doing well at Dig It Dude. Need to get out!
Hey, Stef. Awesome video as always! This is a long shot, but I figured I'd ask... I see you're hitting up fields and woods on a regular basis at all times of the year. How do you keep ticks off of you? I've been visiting some locations near me and I get jumped by ticks almost immediately, even after using tick spray.
Great question and I have an equally great answer! Sawyer’s Permethrin spray - apply it to your clothes (outside!) and let them dry before you put them on. You can also opt to launder the clothes with a healthy amount of the Permethrin, but I don’t like that idea so I’ve ever done it. I can spray my clothes thoroughly one time and comfortably wear those with confidence for a week while digging. Knock on wood, but I haven’t had a tick latched onto me in over 5 years. Every so often you’ll see one crawling on you anyway, but they’ll typically lose interest. Don’t forget to do your socks and hat, too! I always wear a bucket hat when I’m digging to avoid getting them on my head… to protect my alabaster complexion (the sun doesn’t agree with me 😂).
@StefDigs Ohh! I've been using Zevo's tick spray but it's not working very well. I had been applying it right before running into the woods though lol. Maybe I need to let it dry, but I'll also try out Sawyers stuff too. I totally relate to the complexion 😂 I have a bucket hat type of deal too. Been burnt too many times on my neck to play with the sun anymore. Ticks make me nervous, but I guess it's just part of the hobby. Thanks for your very detailed reply! Looking forward to your next video, and happy hunting!
@ you’re welcome! I will swear by Sawyer’s permethrin, always! It’s on the expensive side, but given how many hunts you can get in with one spray down, I’ve found it to be well worth it!
Hey Stef very nice Hunt there. Keep showing the Buttons you find please. I won't find any like that hear. Speaker of the Native American Bead is cool. If I read it right the smaller one is from Nevada. Please correct me if I misinterpreted it. I detect in Nevada. The Mid Eastern part of the State. Love the Shoe Buckle piece and that Beautiful Gold Guilted Button. I thought you found that Gold Coin also at first. Nothing like finding a Gold Coin you'll definitely won't forget the feeling. Congrats on the Copper also Stef. Take Care Crazie Digging
Thank you! Yeah, that smaller one is labeled as being found in Nevada. Their trade era is about 100+ years later than the fur trade era in my area, though. And yes, I thought the button was a gold coin for a minute… 2nd gold coin scare I’ve had in a month. 🙄😂
@StefDigs When you find your first one I'm looking forward to your reaction on your video. When I found my 5 Dollar Gold Coin I denied what I found for 10 minutes saying it was a Shotgun Shell or A Gold Bottle Cap. You'll find one Stef
Haha, wouldn’t THAT have been nice. 🤣 I lost count of all the buttons found at this site after the first 2 visits - a truly untouched cellar hole is like finding a unicorn!
Yes I know about the prevalence of the 1723 Woods Hibernia halfpennies. You and I have similar totals ... I've found nine 1723s and just one '24, and also one I can't read like the one you found here. Never found a Rosa. 🙂

Fantastic finds, what a great location. Finally got to get out today, after a long time. It felt good, but I didn't find anything good 😕
Thank you! Glad you got out - it’s all a balance of good days and ones that aren’t as fruitful, lol. Nobody sees the days where I find next to nothing. 😂

Thank you! Jeez, there I was getting tired of button after button, I was frankly really happy the day produced other relics in the second half! 😂

Nice to see you on other video with quarter hoarder
Always so fun to get together with Jason - that might be happening again extremely soon. 😉
Great video, might have been more than a garment, find any bones? Subscribed
Thank you, I appreciate that! Lol, thankfully not. 😂 These buttons were pretty shallow!

Have you found a Gold Coin before
@ absolutely not 😂 And I dig everything that repeats. It’ll happen for somebody else when I’m standing right next to them, guaranteed. 😆
@StefDigs When you find your first one I'm looking forward to your reaction on your video. When I found my 5 Dollar Gold Coin I denied what I found for 10 minutes saying it was a Shotgun Shell or A Gold Bottle Cap. You'll find one Stef
@ that’s awesome! I will, someday. 🤣
Hope too find one of the those coins someday
They’re out there! I love finding them!
I’m half way through the video and hoping the jacket that has given you all those buttons had pockets full of coins!
Haha, wouldn’t THAT have been nice. 🤣 I lost count of all the buttons found at this site after the first 2 visits - a truly untouched cellar hole is like finding a unicorn!

What metal detector are you using Stef?
Manticore
Manticore
^ What he said, hah. Manticore with the M9 coil in this video.
FURST!!! WOO HOO!!!
Yippie! 😄
I'm in Connecticut to northford. I detect to ground is rock hard
Depends where I am in CT as to how tough the ground is - the fact we’ve had such little rain is doing us no favors!
👍👍👍
Thank you!
Steff could that have been where the family members were put to rest.Thats why the buttons. They use to bury their family near.
I don’t think the buttons would have been nearly that shallow - they were all under 6” in the ground.
