Well done again Stef. I found my first ever Roman coin on Sunday, all alone on a hillside. I know you will understand what I mean when I say, in those moments, you definitely have a sense of time, place and humanity, realising you are the first person to see this item since it was dropped such a long time ago. It connects you to that very person in a profound way. What a hobby we have.
1. I agree, that is a ramrod tip. 2. I would not be happy if you were stung; those SOBees hurt! 3. Absolutely gorgeous Infantry button. 4. Digging a nice Connecticut Copper is the icing on the cake. Great job, Stef!
That button is just gorgeous! And the CT Copper is a bucket lister for me. Here I live in CT and I have yet to find one It's great to watch a metal detecting show that takes place in CT. We have so many of New England's oldest homes, too. I grew up in a small shoreline town, Guilford, that is home to the oldest stone house in New England. In fact, I lived across from it for a few years when I was younger, but wasn't detecting back then. It's a museum now, so no detection is allowed. Guilford and its surrounding towns have many 1700 homes and farms. Guilford was founded in 1647 and included Madison until they split into two separate towns. I love history and Archeology. That is why I often refer to metal detecting and bottle digging, another of my hobbies, as suburban archeology. You earned my subscription today!
Well thank you so much, I appreciate that! 😊 CT is a GREAT place to detect! The town I live in was founded in 1708, and I’ve found several relics and coins dating to the 1600s. Gotta love it!
I've been watching detector videos for a couple of years - learning what I can. I have probably asked about yellow jackets at least 10 different times...... I'd expect them on every outing. The cufflinks were awesome, and super nice score on that shiny Infantry button. Way to go!

Excellent Finds there Stef. The Cufflinks Wow very Beautiful. The Silver washed Infantry Military Button OMG. Congrats. Love the Ox Nob, Black Powder Piece and State Copper also. Take Care Stef
Wow Stef. Another awesome day you had and I really like all those cool finds especially the infinitry button, the cuffs links, and the musket rifle ramrod tip and the copper.
Nice going Stef. Congrats on all the great finds. Cufflinks, amazing button and your copper. Very happy for you. Funny our opposite hunting style. I look for mounds above the ground in the bush and you look for divots in the ground in the bush. Must have something to do with being on either side of the equator. Good luck on the next outing 🦘🦘😁👍
Beautiful button and Connecticut copper but my favorite were the cufflinks. Makes me wonder how they got lost - someone working wanted to roll up his sleeves so removed the cufflinks and lost one set? However they were lost it's nice that someone who appreciates them found them so many years later. Great job and awesome video!! ❤
Hi Stef- just saw your visit on Quarter Hoarder… great show (especially the end…. Lmfao!!!) Great video!!! The cuff links , the eagle button and copper … wow… so many people still have those on their bucket list (me included) and you got all three! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you! Yeah, I really made an impression on that livestream, evidently. 😂 I guess it spoke to a lot of people, I’ve gotten a bunch of subscribers since that came out, LOL!
Fantastic video! I subscribed from the Quarter Hoarder steam the other week, the use of the term "Cellar Hole" makes perfectly clear sense here, have zero idea why it wasn't earlier!?
Thanks so much! The term “cellar hole” is pretty foreign to anyone outside of New England. I should probably start saying “old home foundations” on livestreams!
Thank you! To answer your question… poorly, half the time. 😂 Coppers are so tough sometimes - the CT didn’t clean up so well. I’ve had some brilliant successes and epic failures over the years, lol. I usually just try and pop the dirt off with a toothpick after a couple of days of drying out (if it appears to be just dirt). If there’s a thick layer of patina, I generally leave it alone.
Is the M9 as good as I hear? I see you use it some as well as the stock coil. Considering purchasing one for myself for Christmas. There's no cellar holes to hunt in my area but there is plenty of trash and places that have lots of nails.
If you’re in a lot of trashy areas, the M9 is outstanding! I use it for target separation because the cellar hole lip is always super contaminated with nails. I like the M9 better than the M8 because of the shape - I feel like I’m covering more ground, but I’m also able to concentrate in heavy iron. I have only taken the M9 off my machine once in the last few months, and I missed it right away! That is now my go-to coil.
Thank you! I do not - I haven’t seen a ton dug, but context would matter a great deal in terms of how many somebody could find. If someone found a military camp from that time period, they’d probably be able to dig a few. Button rarity is tough to pin down unless it’s early patriotic or GW inaugural.
@@shooterjohn7163 thank you - definitely getting there! Just waiting on a court order from probate so I can finish up the estate. I have my moments… but overall I’m back to everyday life. Seems like yesterday and a year ago all at once. ❤️
@@StefDigs I’m sure you’ll do fine but it is still difficult. I’ve been through several estates of relatives. Unfortunately not allot of people take the time to setup for the end. Or they just don’t want to think about it. But it is inevitable and if not done correctly it makes it hard on the ones left to deal with it. My grandmothers estate took years to straighten out do to her son who thought everything should be his. Just keep your focus and you will get there. That’s where detecting comes in to give you something else to think about. I stumbled on a post bank at work the other day while grading a lot for a new building. I called in the property owner before removing anything but he made it worth my while.
@@shooterjohn7163 fortunately the portion of the estate that had to go through probate was very small, so it’ll take under 30 days to get the court order now that the paperwork has been filed. So close to the end of the nitty gritty stuff! I know estates can take months to years - and even though this probate case won’t take long, dealing with PNC Bank is not something I’m looking forward to. They’ve been ATROCIOUS to deal with. Thankfully, I have no siblings from my mother (I have half siblings on my dad’s side who hated my mom, though - and one of them has been loud and proud about it, even after death). My dad’s death will be a lot more complicated, because 2 out of 4 of my siblings are extremely greedy and just plain terrible people. Not looking forward to that!
@@olivei2484 some sites are absolutely worth it - like the virgin homesteads I’ve stumbled over. I always keep those finds together. If it’s a really dry site that has clearly been hammered by others, I’ll sort those finds by like-kind (so, a random dandy button goes in the dandy display).
