I was watching a cop video that was pulling over a chic for DWI... believe it or not she was trashed off of Vanilla Extract. She had so so so many empty bottles and full bottles. I thought of you right away and giggled now i know.😂😂
Hope you don't mind me saying, since you've had your own channel, you seem so much happier, chatty and with more explanations. Still impressed with how much pottery made not 20 miles away from where I live finds it's way to some tiny town in the middle of who knows where. Thanks for all your hard work in doing this, really appreciated. Best from -Near Hanley, Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent 🇬🇧
@@wizz2004 haven't they! Quite a few of my relatives worked on the pot banks 'up Hanley duck'. Always a little thrill when a bit of Stoke gets unearthed.

Tom, everyone always wishes you the best, and to always find ALL the holy grails. I' ve been watching all your older videos, waiting for your next new video to fall-out.
Another great dig Tom! Every time I see you grubbing about in a slurpy wet pit I’m impressed by your dedication and determination to keep on delving for those interesting artefacts - and now for a very long, hot shower!
Thank you for another great video! I believe most antiques are valued on supply & demand, except tue territory bottles that you & you alone find are so rare & not even worth selling!Fun dig Tom!
Hi Tom! As always its great to see your Saturday video! I get such a kick outta your enthusiasm over each item you find. Stay safe out there and can't wait to see what turns up next Saturday....
Just saw an old video of your barn as you were rebuilding a old wood cookstove. And the old carriages were neat. Apparently you have a book also. Ill be looking for that. There's a broader antique side of Tom Askjem that i think would make some interesting videos as well.
My prize possession is a dark aqua, straight sided, shoulder script, early machine made Coca-Cola Canada bottle. I dug it out from under the old bunk house at the farm in Alberta, Canada. I also dug a pristine enamel labeled Kickapoo Joy Juice and Stubby Beer. I love your vids😍
Love your digs..look forward to a new expedition each week. Have you thought on wearing long water proof gloves, there is so much bacteria. Having a small cut can invite we see it all the time in the news. Keep digging being up in years I count on your digs to enjoy days gone by.
You'd wanna be up on the Tetanus shots before swimming in the muck. Does our old mate have a portable shower to use before getting in his car to drive home?
Another great video, Tom!! Lots of water in this pit really makes it a more challenging dig!! Definitely a loaded pit! Thanks for taking us on the dig with you…..otherwise we would never see any of these bottles!
Growing up in Minot North Dakota we often went to my aunt and Uncles farm near Garrison. Rose Glen to be exact. a cousin my age used to rip off his shirt and do his business nearly wherever he felt. Sometimes near a rock pile. Use your imagination as to what he wiped with the shirt. I often LMAO and oll on the floor when you discover various garments in the pits. When my cousin took off his shirt it was because he did not have toilet paper with him at the time. It was invented in the 15th century but I suppose in rural areas it was expensive. So were shirts. But we always wore a shirt. Never wore toilet paper.
I knew a dude that would use one of his socks. I know cause I found one of them in a bathroom cabinet cleaning looking for what was smelling so bad. We starting calling him Sh*t Sock after that and I wasn't joking. Lol!
Hi Tom, I am fascinated with your bottles. Would you consider doing a video of the bottle collection you have found and cleaned up. I would love to see them in their glory. Kind regards from Queensland, Australia. 😊❤️🙏🇦🇺
Surprisingly I don’t have much of a collection. I sold most of it to fund a book project that I’ve been working on. I’ve limited my collecting to one example of the earliest soda bottle from each state. Most are incredibly rare, some unique. At present I only have six bottles in my collection.

Probably already been mentioned but it would be very interesting to know what you find out about the wines. Also love the wonky necks on those sodas. Went to my first bottle show this weekend and it was amazing to hold and see in person the older style sodas and meds. Ones we've not dug yet. Thank you for the hard work and sharing it with us.
Thanks Tom that was a lot of hard work, the full wine bottles are dangerous I seen one blow up on you it was close call anyways good dig enjoyed watching it, be safe, can't wait for the next one
Wow. That looked like one of the hardest digs I’ve seen you do. You must have been exhausted when you finished. And glad to get a shower!!! Haha. Glad you were smart about it when the sides kept collapsing. Great finds. As always thanks for sharing!
Found you watching metal detecting hole diggers. Learning alot about prohibition watching you. Apparently people were hiding in the outhouse drinking then...lol!
Agree, a respirator or fan(s) might be best. Having a bottle explode, being cut by glass, or getting hit in the noggin by a collapsing wall--hope you include some of your most unforgettable experiences in the pits.❤
This property still has an old hand pump well. It had 1 old shed and I think I know where the old outhouse was. I metal detect and found old zinc lids for mason jars, pocket watch and an Indian head penny from 1895. Lot size is 70’x150’
You should make a video of tasting 100 plus year old wine found in outhouse pit, might get some views for that. These messy pits have to be kinda rough, getting your skin soaked in whatever contents are mixed up in the mud slurry. You find a lot of good bottles, cook ware, and other really neat stuff people dumped as trash over a hundred year's later. I'm guessing people never thought their outhouse would become buried treasure lol. I like it when you show the stuff cleaned up, maybe you could do a video showcasing your finds, because i would really like to see some of the colored bottles cleaned up, along with the different item's made from glass and other materials. Thanks for another great video. G-d bless.
Thanks for the great content as always. I am fairly new to your channel and am just curious if you ever sell any of your finds and if you do where can we see what is for sale? Thanks again for all of your hard work. KEEP ON DIGGIN' .
Hi Tom👋🏻! I know you said something about rotten eggs, but really how bad is it. If the wood is preserved then how bad is the smell. How long after crawling out of the hole does it take for your nose and lungs to be clear of that smell? Also, I am wondering who is doing your filming now? Possibly a small introduction would be nice. They are doing a fantastic job filming and catching the hand offs. Curious to know your about Carhart suit, how do you clean it? Do you take it to the car wash and power wash it or lay it on the lawn to scrub most of the mud off?. Tide must be your friend. Great work!
Some amazing finds in a very dirty, and clearly exhausting, dig. In wet extractions like this, I'm surprised you don't use the water more to wash the finds off with for better clarity to the camera view and yourself. That Coke bottle find is a fantastic find. Such a rarity. Doing a Google search, I'd have thought sales prices for those would be way higher than discovered. The highest one I found in a quick look was $50. Would be very interesting to have one of those wine bottles tested for ingredients and then have that formula remade for the public.
Are you a wine drinker? Lol. Great dig. I see you learn from your exploding wine bottle last year. Hope you're doing well. Your videos are top quality. Take care.😊
Wow that was almost hard to watch with all that water and muck you were swimming in there. Hope you were wearing Hip Waders or something under your coveralls! You deserve to keep all the Holy Grails you find! Hope you prosper and retire rich! Thank you so much!
Because I couldn't help myself, I looked up the value of a 1915 CocaCola bottle and it looks like $400- 600. I know this is about history, but the values are interesting too - I did a quick looksie regarding the monetary value of Hutchinson and I found some $700 upward. Just thought I would share.
As far sd value, most are what I consider to be “recycle grade” but every once in a while a “holy grail” is uncovered that can be worth hundreds or even thousands. I’m in the process of writing a book on bottles and am including values based on previous auction results and private sales.
I’m so happy I found your new channel! It’s wonderful! I have to ask, when you are in a pit like this one with lots of ground water/ mud how do you get back in your car? Do you hose off? I’m sorry if it’s a silly question but I can’t help it! 😊
Years ago I dug a full bottle of Dr. Hostetters out of an old 1870s trash hole. I ended up popping the sealed cork and pouring the contents into another container. It was the best tasting stuff I have ever had! I can understand why they were so popular.
Green paints where made using mainly copper as the ingredient, in the 1800's arsenic was also used to a much lesser degree, in the 1900's some greens colours relied on Cobalt oxides. White paint used lead oxide, this was eventually replaced with non toxic Titanium oxide in the later half of the 20th century. Other paint colours where created using very toxic metals such as Mercury and Cadmium.
Tom ,your a bit of a history buff I was wondering if the locals made moon shine did the grow corn at the time of prohibition or did they just bring it from Canada? Just asking while watching this video
