Hey Stef you coming out to digstock in feb in NC? If you are I'll say howdy if I can find you LOL :) Off to detect a local park today. My son gets off early every day now from high school so I have to find local places I can hit for a couple or 3 hours at most usually. Can't wait for the days to get longer. Laters :) Have an awesome day.
Anytime you can find coinage is a good day! Silver and a copper, I'm jumping up and down for joy! The buttons were also a cool find! Keep on digging, Stef, and I'll catch you on the next.✌️😊
Thanks Brian! I thought I saw that too - possibly a KGIII Machin’s Mills of some sort, since they were purposely minted in such a way that made them look worn down. 🤷🏼
What I truly love about our hobby is when you find ,lets say a button, coin, even a harmonica reed. What were they doing when they lost it? Who were they,
More awesome finds, well done Stef! Beautiful Barber dime- looks like the M15 is going to be a winner as well. I join you with the weather holding up any hunting for a little while, hopefully not TOO long!
Thank you! I really like that coil - didn’t get to swing it long (the mill was a bust, totally overgrown in briars), but I remember being impressed with the balance - no problem pinpointing, either!
Yes! You did so well with the small coil! My first thought on that piece at 4:00 is that it is a catch for a latch; the riveted on piece is a locking device to keep it from opening on its own. Again, just my idea. And a good start with the M15, guess that was a teaser?
Thank you! Probably something to that effect. Well, the M15 is a teaser for everybody, myself included. 😂 Haven’t been able to secure an appropriate (and unfrozen) site to use it since then! Can’t wait to get out with it again.
Thank you! That’s a good first silver. Mine took me around 8 months of detecting to find, lol. I only hunted the woods on town land when I started - was worth the wait, though. Beautiful 1875 Seated dime! 😊
Great Hunt Stef. Congrats on your Barber Dime find with the new coil. Congrats on all your finds love the Buttons and the small piece of Buckle. Take Care Stef
Nice going Stef. Shame the coin in the corn was so slick. Annoys me too if I can’t make out what it is. Congrats on the barber with the M15. Great pinpointability for such a big coil. Take care mate 🦘🦘😁👍
I don't know how you spotted that pipe stem - they look just like the corn stalks to me! Nice Barber but I loved the buttons, especially the domed one, Thank you for another awesome video!! ❤
Yowza ! Yes it really is a tease to dig an oldy but you can't get a date or i.d. off it as it could be epic or just a regular find. Oh well keep digging 😉🇨🇦
Haha, it drives me nuts! I’ll spend hours looking at it through a loupe or with side lighting - but some of these coppers just aren’t meant to be identified, lol.
Tombac is a brass alloy with copper and zinc content. Usually they will be silver or even gold(ish) in appearance, and if found in the right conditions, they’ll still shine! If it’s a 1-piece tombac button, the back will either have a cone-shaped shank post with an iron or brass shank (late 1700s), and with earlier styles (late 1600s to mid-1700s), you’ll see swirls on the back (evidence of it being manufactured on a lathe). With the 2-piece tombacs that would’ve accepted a pewter face like the ones I found in this video, the defining characteristic was the low TID on the metal detector, and of course the gray/silvery appearance. Hope this helps!
I’d say the reason for that is because they run so darn hot, lol! I was definitely running my machine too hot for that field. That will cause the numbers to jump around. I will say that when I’m running the machine on a more reserved sensitivity level, the ID numbers are more consistent.
@@StefDigs they definitely changed algorithms or something in them switching back and forth from my 600 to my XTP I have to train my brain lol . I’m not a numbers rigid person I listen to tones and the tones on the xTP are better than my 600 but I do love that 600
@@ifindmetal the 600 is what I used for 5 years, I love it! Didn’t take too long to retrain my brain on the numbers, but I don’t go back and forth with the 600 and Manticore - been Manticore only, lately! 😊 The X-Terra Pro is cool - I don’t have one, but I swung one around the Minelab tent a couple of times.

Great hunt love the barber dime God Bless and happy dirt fishin…Virgil

Gotta love finding silver with a new coil!!!!
Absolutely! 😁
Silver and copper always makes a great day! I think I saw a right facing bust on there too at one angle but either way awesome hunt Stef🤘🤘

I love that, too! I’d love to be able to see the 15 minutes in history that led up to somebody losing whatever I just dug.
Always a good day when you're digging up some sweet silver. Lots of other cool finds as well.
Thank you! Was definitely a great time!
I need to head back East!!💚
Yes you do - so we can go digging! 😁

My first silver was a barber dime. I still haven't found one before 1900. That hollow cast button is freakin awesome!
Thank you! That’s a good first silver. Mine took me around 8 months of detecting to find, lol. I only hunted the woods on town land when I started - was worth the wait, though. Beautiful 1875 Seated dime! 😊
Your mystery item at 4:00 looks like a pair of hand scales. Like they used to weigh "oregano" in the 70's and 80's.
Hahaha, no kidding! Thanks, I’ll look up some photos.
Great Hunt Stef. Congrats on your Barber Dime find with the new coil.
Congrats on all your finds love the Buttons and the small piece of Buckle. Take Care Stef
Thank you! Was a fun time!
Victory!! That Barber is beautiful. Keep making videos. We said so. 😂✌🏼❤️😊🍀
Haha, thank you! Another one drops tomorrow! 😁
It's always fun to see what goodies you uncover. Have a great week.
Thank you! Hope you have a great week, too! 😊

Thanks Andrew! I do love that big coil - the fields are actually starting to thaw in some spots, might be able to get out with it again soon! 🤞🏻
I don't know how you spotted that pipe stem - they look just like the corn stalks to me! Nice Barber but I loved the buttons, especially the domed one, Thank you for another awesome video!! ❤
Thanks Elisabeth! Sometimes I pick up cornstalks that I think are pipe stems. 😆 Gets easier to spot the more you do it!
Manticore is on fire, sweet barber for sure. Kenny
Thanks Kenny!
So many fascinating finds. Thanks for taking us along ❤
Thanks for watching! 😊
A locking hook latch to maybe a saddle bag or satchel to prevent spillage.
Could be! It’s quite thin, it’s stamped brass. I don’t know if it’s substantial enough for that, but your guess is as good as mine!
A locking hook to a musket ball shot box, it did appear that the hinged part slid to close the hook, good luck with it.@@StefDigs
@@wtallaksen very interesting, I’ll have to take a look at some of those! Thanks!

A good selection of finds up there. Best wishes on the next adventure.
Thank you! 😊
Stay warm!
I’d rather be cold, because it’ll mean I’m out digging in the woods! 😂
Another few great digs Stef!!
Thank you! 😊
I was wondering if that little buckle could have been a book latch? Just a thought, keep digging!
Interesting - perhaps! I’ll have to look at some book clasps and the components of the clasps.
Awesome finds... Thanks for sharing 😊
Thanks for watching! 😊
Great finds steff
Thank you!
Great finds!!!
Thank you!
Sweet.
Thank you!
Holy crap that hinge was freaking tiny
It was! I believe it’s a buckle part of some kind.
Omg the hands that crafted something that beautiful and small that was a master craftsman
@@dwightpickens2895 you’re not kidding!
Great job . love barber dimes
Thank you! Me too! 😊
ive only found 4 in 11 years not easy to find..@@StefDigs
Nice stuff Stef

2 questions; what is a tomback button and how can you tell? Thanks!

Antique Carabina
Lol, could be! Who knows!
Silver is always nice. Happy Hunting!
Indeed it is! Happy hunting!
Looks like a furniture tack
It does, but as you likely saw, I did some digging (no pun intended) and it appears to be a particular style of 17th century button.
Fab vid Stef 😀 err do you not have a toothbrush to compliment your spray 😘
Haha, I do! 😆 I carry a spray bottle, soft toothbrush, and one of those more abrasive tough plastic brushes. Proper scout! 😂🫡
Where these colonial pipes made of bone Steff?
They were made of clay
Hi Stef
Hi there! 😄
Garter clip?
Could be!
Ever since Minelab changed to the larger scale you can’t even get a consistent number out of even a large round copper
I’d say the reason for that is because they run so darn hot, lol! I was definitely running my machine too hot for that field. That will cause the numbers to jump around. I will say that when I’m running the machine on a more reserved sensitivity level, the ID numbers are more consistent.
