'92 Mustang Fox Body Coupe Part 2! New headlights and taillights, detailed, and headed to a show!
Let's dive back into this Mustang project! In this video, I clean the car up, replace a few parts, and head to a car show. I replaced the headlights, taillights, pedal covers, added some new floor mats, and touched up some peeling paint. I took it to it's first show along with my daughter, and my friend Eric and their Mustangs.
This is going to be a fun project, so Thanks for hanging out for the build. This will be a show quality build that will take me back to my teenage years!

    Hi Phillip. Nothing wrong with hanging out in the garage and tinkering on stuff. If you sell stuff at swap meets, someone might give you a few bucks for the old headlights. The inner and outer lights weren't bad looking. The new ones are definitely a big improvement though. The Fox body styling looks so muscular compared to the newer more aerodynamic styling. Lot of neat cars at the car show. Liked that old T bucket rat rod, sporting a small block Ford instead of the usual small block Chevy. Keeping it in the family. -mike

    I installed the LMR kit on mine almost 7 years ago. It does make the car look so much better. Unfortunately though I’ve had to replace just the headlight portion 2 more times, both sides, since then. It’s all cheap junk and will start to yellow again within 12-18 months. LMR will only warranty them for a year. The few I’ve tried from different places and brands all seem to me to be made at the same factory or place. The LMR kit lasted about 14 months for the drivers side, 18 months for the passenger side, before yellowing.

    I know people are saying that cars rough not really rough ive seen people build model a's back to running driving cars with less just pieces of a rusty body no frame no engine no drive train nothing theres a lot there to work with and every part of a model is reproduced and not terribly expensive id say it would take about 15000 to restre that car

      I agree with you. I can’t bring myself to tear down a complete nice car. I know that’s how hot rodding begin, but the really nice survivors made it nearly 100 years, so I cay at this point, leave them alone. Model A’s aren’t that hard to come across in rough shape. So hot rods can be built without tearing down a nice original. Of course, there are many opinions on this. But, that’s the beauty of opinions, we each are entitled to our own. I might look around for some fenders for a while before I decide what to do with the car. Thanks for the comments!

  • @billywird
    @billywird 16 дней назад

    Well sir, we learn as we go with these older cars and we have a tendency to acquire more vehicles than we have proper storage space for and as a result we can have a vehicle deteriorate to the point where it can be more involved in both time and money (and there are storage problems that are as a result that you have described). I have some vehicles that I have kept in some proper storage and some vehicles that sadly I have allowed to rust away, I think we all learn things the hard way. I see where people buy something that I myself would not give a plug nickel for, but it is their money and their time and their business. Most people express their opinions though and opinions are like noses, everyone has one and they all smell. Yes, it is a different world where folks live in the snow and such. Like yourself I have lived in the South all of my life and have not engaged snow conditions as well, but this winter we have had some snow conditions. I just made a run to Savannah Ga yesterday and there is still snow on the ground, but the roads were clear. I suppose "mother nature" had an opinion about that as well.🥸

    • @phillipshotrodgarage
      @phillipshotrodgarage 16 дней назад

      Great comment! I agree. We can’t keep them all inside, and that’s a bummer. But, we preserve what we can and take pieces from those that are gone too far, and use them to save others. I have found that there isn’t a vehicle out there that someone doesn’t want. It doesn’t matter how rough it is or how little is left, someone will take it for some purpose. Opinions about it are more than you can count. The snow was kind of fun for a little while, but I’m glad it’s about out of here now. Thanks for the reply friend!

    Hey Phillip, I can't believe you got so much snow down in your area! I'm in NJ and we expect that kind of weather, but not in Alabama! What was that, a 1960 Biscayne in the garage next to the roadster? That is in amazing shape! The roadster looks in pretty good shape overall. Pretty complete too. Definitely needs work but looks like a good platform to start from. Putting a little flathead in it and building it like a '50s hot rod would be cool. I think you should try to save the rumble seat if you can. The 4 banger sounded pretty good. It would be a good heart donor for someone doing a restoration. You know these cars way better than I do. Whatever you build out of it will be cool. My dad always wanted a deuce coupe but never got to realize that dream. -mike

      It was a very unusual snow storm for us. Even the beaches along the Florida gulf coast just south of us got that much snow. I didn't ask the year of the old Chevy. It's neat though, it has a 348 with 3 deuces on it. I agree with you, the roadster would make a cool 50's style hot rod, and selling the original engine would help with a dew dollars to spend on it!

    Hey Philip.... Nice to see that your back and doing better my friend... I’ve been dealing with RA for about 6 years now, and with medicine and a good diet/ exercise I feel and get around a lot better...so I totally understand your situation ... I agree that the ‘31 is pretty rough and too far gone as far as a restoration piece,, but it is a pretty complete vehicle for its age... and will be a good candidate for a Hotrod build, either with you or someone else if you decide to sell it down the way.... Looking forward to the upcoming videos my friend,, take it slow and stay healthy....

      Thanks for the comment. I’m reminded as I read your comments just how far I’ve come in a short period of time to get to where I am. The difference between me and your 3 year old grandson with all the tools is that he likely didn’t have his shop to burn to the ground a few years ago. He likely didn’t have to start over the hard way from nothing after having lost everything it took 30 years to accumulate. I made the choice to pick myself up and not let losing everything defeat me. As time goes on, I am buying more and more tools, and even buying things I didn’t have before. But for now, I have more brains than tools, and I know what I need to do using common sense and willpower. Doing the job right with the best tools money can buy is one thing, but starting from nothing, and building your dream with nothing but the power of determination is on a different level. I choose to go the extra mile and do it right with what I have to work with, while others would just hack it up. I’ll buy a lathe someday, but until then, I’ll keep hammering away with what I have.
