- 2025 has started off right! I'm back in the shop, working on my cars, and I've already added another one to my collection!
We just had a very unusual snow storm here is the south, and we are trying to thaw out!
Check out the roadster and tell me what you think!
Build it? Sell it? Keep it? Hot Rod? Rat Rod? Full Restoration?

Hot rod!!
You know it. Gotta be a hot rod.
@@phillipshotrodgarage im.just waiting for the day our first 32 roadsters fall into our laps 🤣
Woohoooooooo
Back at you… woohooooooooooo!!!
I'm glad to see you posting again, I had been keeping up with you.
Thank you! I appreciate you watching! I’m feeling better and trying to get things going again. Thanks for the support.
Hey Philip....
Nice to see that your back and doing better my friend...
I’ve been dealing with RA for about 6 years now, and with medicine and a good diet/ exercise I feel and get around a lot better...so I totally understand your situation ...
I agree that the ‘31 is pretty rough and too far gone as far as a restoration piece,, but it is a pretty complete vehicle for its age... and will be a good candidate for a Hotrod build, either with you or someone else if you decide to sell it down the way....
Looking forward to the upcoming videos my friend,, take it slow and stay healthy....
Thanks! You take care too friend. That RA is tough stuff. It’s good to be feeling better
Great video and it’s about time you get back in the shop now let’s get some progress going on that roadster so you can drive it this year
Driving that one is a tall order! The coupe has to be worked on first!
Well sir, we learn as we go with these older cars and we have a tendency to acquire more vehicles than we have proper storage space for and as a result we can have a vehicle deteriorate to the point where it can be more involved in both time and money (and there are storage problems that are as a result that you have described). I have some vehicles that I have kept in some proper storage and some vehicles that sadly I have allowed to rust away, I think we all learn things the hard way. I see where people buy something that I myself would not give a plug nickel for, but it is their money and their time and their business. Most people express their opinions though and opinions are like noses, everyone has one and they all smell. Yes, it is a different world where folks live in the snow and such. Like yourself I have lived in the South all of my life and have not engaged snow conditions as well, but this winter we have had some snow conditions. I just made a run to Savannah Ga yesterday and there is still snow on the ground, but the roads were clear. I suppose "mother nature" had an opinion about that as well.🥸
Great comment! I agree. We can’t keep them all inside, and that’s a bummer. But, we preserve what we can and take pieces from those that are gone too far, and use them to save others. I have found that there isn’t a vehicle out there that someone doesn’t want. It doesn’t matter how rough it is or how little is left, someone will take it for some purpose. Opinions about it are more than you can count. The snow was kind of fun for a little while, but I’m glad it’s about out of here now. Thanks for the reply friend!
That roadster looks like a kind of rough, but its pretty complete also. i think thats a rare combo. But i think it has potential
Hey Phillip, I can't believe you got so much snow down in your area! I'm in NJ and we expect that kind of weather, but not in Alabama! What was that, a 1960 Biscayne in the garage next to the roadster? That is in amazing shape! The roadster looks in pretty good shape overall. Pretty complete too. Definitely needs work but looks like a good platform to start from. Putting a little flathead in it and building it like a '50s hot rod would be cool. I think you should try to save the rumble seat if you can. The 4 banger sounded pretty good. It would be a good heart donor for someone doing a restoration. You know these cars way better than I do. Whatever you build out of it will be cool. My dad always wanted a deuce coupe but never got to realize that dream.

It was a very unusual snow storm for us. Even the beaches along the Florida gulf coast just south of us got that much snow. I didn't ask the year of the old Chevy. It's neat though, it has a 348 with 3 deuces on it. I agree with you, the roadster would make a cool 50's style hot rod, and selling the original engine would help with a dew dollars to spend on it!
Hello! Glad to see you back. Sorry you’re sorry you are sick. It been around 12* at night here in Missouri still have some snow
It's been cold here too, it got down to around 18 a couple of nights this week, which is unusually cold for us down here. I am feeling so much better, so it feels good to be back messing with these old cars again.
@ glad your feeling better I’m ready for some good watching now😊
Awesome, the ‘28 coupe project is coming soon!
very cool car. Keep the fenders,I love them
I like them too, but unfortunately, these are too rusty to save. If I keep them, I will unfortunately have to find a different set.
Phillip, a traditional styled fenderless Hot Rod on a ‘32 Ford frame is the way to go. I do love my ‘29 Ford Hot Rod roadster! It has a ‘32 frame and grille shell. You may have seen it. It’s the red roadster in the film Deuce of Spades (DOS). Jerry
I like a roadster on a '32 frame for sure! I've not not that film, I'll have to check it out!
Hello, take care of yourself, kiss from France😘👍🤘
Thank you, I will! Thanks for watching the channel from France. Take care!
Hey Phillip, thought you might scoop up that roadster, even though it’s a little rough, it’s very complete! I think you have a good vision for it, I agree, make it a highboy, get rid of the fenders and go 50’s style hotrod with the flathead 8, should be a cool project! Enjoy the snow, up where I am I get 5 months of it! Lol
Thanks, I’m thinking the same thing. Most comments so far are in favor of making it a highboy! The snow is melting away fast. I don't know if I could handle 5 months of it. But them again, I guess if you are used to it, it might not be so bad. It brought everything down here to a crawl.
Glad it’s going away quickly Phillip, bet the kids are loving it but those who have to commute it’s definitely a nightmare. I’m certainly looking forward to spring!
Oh, the kids had a blast playing in it! It doesn't snow here often, so it's something they don't get to see often. The people on the road are nuts haha. They certainly don't know how to drive in it around here.
Oh yeah, fenderless hotrod, belly button sbc with auto trans. Have fun!!
Sounds like fun, yes indeed!
Just when you thought we had enough to work on. Keep bringing them home. We will have to rent storage at boxcars garage 😂
You’re right, this shop is starting to get tight 😂. And Boxcar’s Garage secretly wants the car, but he won’t admit it.
you can get betteer fenders if you wanted to, i agree with you , good canadate for a Hot Rod, i dont like it when people Hot Rod a good orignal car
I agree with you. I can’t bring myself to tear down a complete nice car. I know that’s how hot rodding begin, but the really nice survivors made it nearly 100 years, so I cay at this point, leave them alone. Model A’s aren’t that hard to come across in rough shape. So hot rods can be built without tearing down a nice original. Of course, there are many opinions on this. But, that’s the beauty of opinions, we each are entitled to our own. I might look around for some fenders for a while before I decide what to do with the car. Thanks for the comments!
New running boards are available. The fender well is available and can be replaced. 1931 splash aprons are on back order status.
I will likely be able to find some good used pieces that I can use. I'm already on the lookout! I'd like to find some pieces to make the car solid and get the car running and driving without restoring it. Restoration might come later, but I have to keep my focus on my 28 coupe for now.
Philip take care needed to send ya some white so ya could feel at home ok from Canada 🇨🇦 SK later get better soon 😊😊
We need to send some of this white back your way! It will all be melted soon but i hear we might be getting more soon.
It would make a nice fenderless high-boy.
Awesome! Another vote for a high boy. I guess more people prefer that look over a channeled car.
Snow,eh? We didn’t get much this year but mostly cold. Our fishing lake has 2 feet of ice on it!
Wow, we never see that kind of cold here in the south. It must get really cold to freeze the lake 2 feet.
@@phillipshotrodgarage Many days of 20* to 30* below zero. (That's 50 to 60* below freezing).
Could have 3 feet of ice on the lake before winter is over.
Wow, where are you located?
@@phillipshotrodgarage We are located in the middle of nowhere!! lol...... North Dakota, about 100 miles from Canada. Just got back from fishing and the ice is 28" thick. A nice day with sunshine and a balmy 14*. You should come visit us sometime!
Hot rod no fenders
I agree! Thanks for the comment!
32 frame, 59ab motor get my vote make it a traditional hot rod
Ah yea, that sounds like a real good plan. Would be sweet!
Those top irons are the deluxe roadster type. That looks to be a deluxe roadster.
Thanks for pointing that out!
Sound like you already have the plan… use up all those parts you already have!
@@AJStarch you know, using up what I already have would be a smart plan 🙂.
@ Ah, but since when has “smart” been part of hot rods? 🤣
@ since never HAHA
when are you going to finish something ?
@@fredjones1238 in time… I’m just now getting back to work after a year of dealing with major health issues. I’m just now getting back on my coupe. The roadster isn’t a new project, it’s just one I added to my collection. The coupe is still my current project and I’ll have videos on it soon. I’m working on it.
Fix what’s wrong or in need of replacement and restore the car. Even if just a driver car.
Sounds like a good plan!
No va mas 😞
@@titagonzales9927 it doesn’t go any more 🙁
I know people are saying that cars rough not really rough ive seen people build model a's back to running driving cars with less just pieces of a rusty body no frame no engine no drive train nothing theres a lot there to work with and every part of a model is reproduced and not terribly expensive
id say it would take about 15000 to restre that car
I agree with you, there's a lot of potential there. I probably will go ahead and get the car running and driving, and fix a few things that it needs done the most. But, a full restoration will be a little further down the road. I have to stay focused on the projects I already have started, like my '28 coupe.
@phillipshotrodgarage Honestly if i had some money id try to buy the car as is but just isnt in the cards at the moment
btw. having a hawken rifle and a model a are two of the things ive wanted since i was a small child now at 45 i have a hawken reproduction rifle but no model a to take to the deer woods
@@GeorgiaRidgerunner well, maybe you’ll get one some day. They are still out there, but you have to get with the old cars guys and start talking to find them. The folks into these cars know where they are sitting.
It's a quail bird....
No way, I thought it was a 🕊️ dove. Hmmm.
@phillipshotrodgarage Come on man!
Messaged ya on fb!
I saw it. I’ll messaged you back when I get time.
