This house is about a quarter mile from where I live and I drive by it all the time always wondering what would become of it. I had no idea the amount of work you were doing to the inside because the outside barely changed. What a fantastic job you guys did on this place! I was always hoping someone would restore it, and you have done an outstanding job. Thank you!
In most of the world, I believe that removing the old house and building a new one would make more sense, unless time is not an issue, and labor cost means nothing to this guy.
Not a restoration as some commenters mention. Gut and renovate which is what it was and that is fine. It doesn't retain any of the original charm and character of the original house, which is also fine. That could definitely have been accomplished, but, it is now a livable space, sitting on a decent amount of property. I have two houses built in 1883 and 1939 and both retain many original features, original lath and plaster, wavy glass and tin ceilings in the 1883, etc. All that has really changed is that the exteriors of both have been vinyl sided, so every day I experience the character and craftsmanship of the interiors of both houses. That is what makes me happy. This house has been transformed into a comfortable, livable space which is what makes the owner happy. You would never guess, from looking at the interior, that this is an old house. I subscribed and watched the owner's channel until it became apparent that it was a renovation, not a restoration, and then unsubscribed and moved on. I may revisit that channel to see if any of the original charm of the exterior has survived.
Thank you for sharing this journey! It’s truly inspiring for anyone dreaming of taking on a restoration project themselves. Whether it’s preserving an old craftsman’s charm or bringing back the glory of a Victorian, seeing it all come together is a beautiful reminder of why we value these homes so much. This house is well on its way to becoming a masterpiece once more, and I can’t wait to see the final reveal! 🙌🏻✨
I've seen that cement mixer before in other vlogs. This is a job where I feel that something of this expense would shine. I couldn't see having something like that for doing a garage floor pour. Awesome video!
Great work.. even though tearing it down and building something new would’ve been cheaper, they did achieve their goal in preserving as much of the original structure as possible.. as long as they are happy with the outcome that’s most important.. personally, it’s a lot of work done preserving something that didn’t have a good layout/floor plan to begin with
Much of the original cabin is gone. Reminds me of a story of the man who inherited his great grandfather’s hatchet. His grandfather replaced the worn handle and his father replaced the head…. The cabin is no longer 100 years old. Nearly all is replaced. I would have tried to preserve as much as possible of the original even if it looked old and flawed.
Beautiful workmanship, high skills with the excavating machines. There was a lot of rotten wood, and the demolition, especially of the floors, looked dangerous to the guys. Tearing the cabin down and rebuilding would have been safer and less restrictive regarding design, but the owners must have had nostalgia for the old structure. A lot of hard, skillful work. Congratulations.
Sometimes tired buildings, often after years of chronic neglect, should be demolished. This, sadly, is a prime example. The small fraction of the original building that was retained, simply served as a hindrance to the completion of a proper rebuild. This applies to the patchwork foundation “repair” and everything else that followed. I can only hope that no one watching this video will be “inspired” to attempt a similar project.
Wow, I’m really impressed with the restoration process of this house! 🏚➡🏠 Even though the house was very old and rundown, with attention to detail and skill, it looks like new again! It’s not just about the hard work, but the passion and love for old architecture. 😍 Thank you for sharing this journey, it’s truly inspiring for anyone wanting to take on a restoration project. It’s going to be a beautiful masterpiece once finished!
Very many of them was used to keep food cold, fresh when they didn't have refriguater. At least here in Norway. I had a small on for drinks and exyras in my winter cabin in the 80these.😊

tip #1 for you. a roof ripper or flat shovel for removing the lathe and plaster. you will thank me next job.
Wish the wall u put seperating the kitchen from living room was either Gone or a half wall with a thick ledge for passing snacks and to check on Kids. Otherwize Great Job
I see houses like this all the time on the east coast especially in the pine barrens.. question is how is the termite situation? The house is perfect in my opinion..
The only problem I see is there is no railing around the top of the stairs to help prevent someone from accidentally slipping and falling down the stairs. Otherwise a fantastic restoration while saving the old "bones" of the original structure.
Without a study of cost of renovation vs new, it is my opinion that the cost of renovation far exceeds the new. I didn't figure the extra income fom RUclips.
I'm not an experienced Builder by any means, but why would you not put thosd little support boards between the roof beams instead of attaching them to the outside? Between the arch seems like it would have been more structurally supportive and strong. Also when you did the outside of the roof you didn't put down any tar paper or anything underneath the metal roofing those little rubber grommets that that come with that metal roofing are going to bake in the sun and crack and shrink over time and then you've got a roof leak. I'm probably wrong on that stuff but that just seems logical to me.
Well done, but all these slabs cannot be used in interior decoration, the fumes of the connecting substance are poisonous and the evaporation lasts a very long time. The reinforcement strapping for the foundation had to be done immediately so that it would be solid. The old wood had to be stripped and covered with protective compounds. All metal fasteners, wiring, sewers must be isolated from direct interaction with air. It was necessary to solve the issue of ventilation of the house so that condensation would not accumulate on the roof, upper floor, kitchen, or bathroom. I didn't notice any of this. How long will this renovated house last? The old house lasted so long because it was very well ventilated.s.
They make it look so easy must have years of experience and all correct equipment . Joe soap like me could not just start knocking down I am sure they are highly educated 😮😮😮😮
With the evidence of all that beetle infestation, I'm surprised that they didn't bug proof the new timber before using it. They say that the trees are the lungs of the world. I wonder how many trees gave up their last gasp to refurbish that ?

Aynı şeyi düşünüyorum
Exactly my opinion.
Exactly
Wonder what the comparison time/cost of bulldozing and starting over would've been.
Good Work ❤
Definitely would’ve been cheaper, but they didn’t want to tear down that whole thing
Yes, my thoughts too. I like the chill 70's music though.
In most of the world, I believe that removing the old house and building a new one would make more sense, unless time is not an issue, and labor cost means nothing to this guy.
I follow him on RUclips he built it in a matter of months

Bolstering isn’t very nice.
Man just tear the whole place down and start new lol
Yep. Wasting all that money and time.
You took my comment.
I love it
Agree. Don’t see how this was worthwhile. Building it completely new would have been easier and resulted in a much better final product.
He has a RUclips channel and explains why in his series
I had watched the 99Projects videos for the past year, watching the renovation over the months.Hello to dear Max, the dog!

That plaster was to bad to save. I like what they did. I also owned a 1875 home and restored it. I left all the charm.

That dang beam is sitting on a 2 by 4 nailed to the exterior wall with 4 freaking nails hahaha. Good job lol

Cool watching a video like this where its obvious the guys know what they're doing and take pride in craftsmanship.

Love old houses they stand longer than the new ones, and they bring joy to you like the seasons do.
Bingo, they only had to do minimal repairs of the original stone and mortar foundation. Built to last.
It's a shame that the art of brick making has become forgotten in America. Fire proof, rot proof, guaranteed to withstand the test of time.

You aren't scared of hard work! Good job.
I have been subscribed to 99projects for a few years and things he does is remarkable. Keep an eye out for his shipping container workshop.
*The restoration of this 100-year-old house is truly impressive! You turned a ruin into a work of art.* 💯💯💯❤❤❤

Seriously... Practically nothing was left of the original structure... I'm not really sure what they were trying to "preserve".
Nice to see your 4-legged building inspector checking the progress.
Bruh I'm digging the soundtrack. You can watch anything to the funky beats. Great job sir all the way round😎😎😎😎😎
Amazing Work ❤
So beautiful ❤❤
Allahummasolli ala Muhammad waala ali sayidina Muhammad.
Great job!

Pekerjaan yang luar biasa❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
I do NOT AGREE with cutting in half 100 year old Dimensional Lumber!
Could get more money from careful thought removal…
That dark flooring I know is a personal choice, I'd have put light flooring in as the dark will get dirty too fast and require too much cleaning.
Beautiful craftsmanship! I am worried about the rear corners of the structure. Why not place concrete struts at the corners?
I'm subscribed to both channels. When I recognize the house in the thumbnail it took a second for my brain to catch up.
If they tore down all bits of the house and replaced them with new parts, can it still be called the same house?
The House of Theseus
Very many of them was used to keep food cold, fresh when they didn't have refriguater. At least here in Norway. I had a small on for drinks and exyras in my winter cabin in the 80these.😊

Outstanding and awesome content as always. Thanks for sharing and taking us along.
Congrats on a superb job 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼👏👏👏👏
You have something extraordinary here!
Beautiful job you've done rebirthing the house ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
The house is pieace of history I would honestly would do the same thing restore house that 100 years old
That was really amazing to watch
Creo hacerla nueva habría costado menos.
I watched each video. He did a great job.

Explain this logic
Ive always said its cheaper to demolish it and start a fresh new build saves all the hassel
Bom trabalho 👏🏽👏🏽❤❤❤
awesome !
Great job. Best compliments. Ciao from Treviso. Lori

No longer the house you say you fell-in love with you have removed so much it’s no longer same house, disappointed

The old house lasted so long because it was very well ventilated.s.
Yes! It's all very simple and fast!
But how many days or months actually passed?
It's a shed! 😮
They make it look so easy must have years of experience and all correct equipment . Joe soap like me could not just start knocking down I am sure they are highly educated 😮😮😮😮
He didn't renovate. He just built a new one. There is very little left of the old house. But the new house looks good.
Awesome job guys
Wasn't it faster to demolish the entire hovel and build a new house with solid bricks?😂😂😂
Interior demaciado madera!
Either we cant see the supports he using or he is one lucky person.
Here I am thinking this thing is out in the mountains in the middle of nowhere… only to get to the end and see its 50’ off the highway lol😂
After that I need a beer & smoke ! 😂👍🍺
I was disappointed that they didn’t clear out the debris from the crawl space before putting the floor down.
I need to get some jumper cables on this guy...
I would remove all old ugly shingles on exterior part of house and replace it with horizontal wood boards to make it look modern
Almost 99% Finished .
Lot of work
Imagine the smell of that fresh wood 🪵 ❤
Molto bella

Some people are all about taking short cuts, cheap is what cheap does, I don't mean to be rude 🙄
