For all my 60 years, my mother has used a dresser exactly like this one and a mirror hung on the wall in another part of the house....this is the first time I've realized they belong together!😂 Great job resurrecting this one.
The beveled glass of the original mirror was wonderful. You could get it resilvered and put it back in the frame. I think that would really be the jewel on the piece. Excellent work!
I love videos like this where a piece of furniture looks dump worthy, but then is restored to its almost brand new condition. Great work! Any one would love to have that dresser in their home.
Chestnut. I have a six-drawer five-tier tall Eastlake bureau in shabby condition. It looks really rough but the unimproved raw wood inside the drawers makes my clothing smell wonderful. Congratulations for bringing this one back from death's door.
Toll, toll, toll👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍
WOW!!! When you first showed this piece, all in pieces and broken up, I thought “this is gonna be interesting!” Man, you did a fantastic job bringing this piece back to life!! And no table saw or jointer?! Very impressive!!
My father restored a very similar Eastlake dresser in the 80"s that was my grandmother's. He used linseed oil and I have refreshed it with Odies oil. I have owned it for the last 30 years and it will be passed to my daughter. Thank you for giving this piece of history a new life.
Beautiful, sympathetic restoration. I was dreading gel stain, paint, and cheap hardware. Instead, you brought out the natural beauty of the wood (chestnut?) and found solid brass, that looks great.
I thought the same thing, but the mirror alone would've been worth more than $20. Mirrors are one of those things that you don't realize cost so dang much until you become an adult and start trying to decorate your own home.
Votre travail est remarquable. Vous ressuscitez de vieux meubles dont personne ne voudrait. Chapeau l’artiste ! 😍💚 C’est toujours un immense plaisir de vous suivre. Salutations de France 🇫🇷.

I was very surprised by the choose of the tung oil finish but very nice looking. Not a finish I would have thought to look at though I do use it regularly.
Oh my, that was quite the undertaking. Reminded me of getting a Lego set and building something not restoring! You are a master at what you do. You must be so proud! Thank you for saving this. I love antiques.❤
Great Restoration! It Looked like it was Waiting to Die! And So Thirsty! I Don't Think I've Ever Seen a Piece that Looked that Dry! It Must of just Sucked Up that Tung Oil! Nice Color and the Grain is Really Beautiful!

Amazing restoration, great job. Glade to see the old craftsmanship left in the restoration. First time I have seen a sliding dovetail used on the top to allow for expansion.
Little tip for you; When cutting a dado dovetail, depending on the size of dovetail you are cutting, use a box bit first. That way you will get a cleaner cut with less drag and it will save the brushes on your router motor too! You're welcome 😊
The black spots around the nails and screws could have been treated with oxalic acid. But of course, a good job has been done, you have recreated a worthy object from junk. Excellent result.
Wasn't sure if this one could be saved! But as usual you brought it back to life and it's absolutely amazing gorgeous! Awesome job transforming this broken piece to a true beauty! 😊❤
Is this called quarter sawn? It is stunning! My Dad would say 'Lipstick and rouge, powder and paint makes a plain looking girl look what she ain't.' What a transformation. The piece can breathe again.
You didn’t have to change your screwdriver for anyone if their annoyed that’s their problem your the one doing the work it’s whatever you feel comfortable with, their just watching. You do good work keep it up 👍🏼
Nice result. Very nice. How did you repair the missing little decorative piece on the front? Just for the heck of it, if you have the pieces from the old top, why not try steaming and weighting them and reassembling, as a practice piece? Also, what did you do to repair the mirror glass? Thanks very much.
@@patstrailertopics5975 I cut off some scrap white oak I had and used the router to shape it. I didn’t have the tools to make it exactly the same so I made two that were similar to the original.

That they kept the pieces with the dresser speaks to the knowledge that the seller knew there was potential. OUTSTANDING WORK!
Thank you!. There were a couple of things missing but they had a lot the pieces for the most part.
You have to appreciate the artistic carpentry of those days
Absolutely!
The piece was made by a true craftsman and was restored by a true craftsman. Beautiful.

@@TerryInUSA thank you!
Same! Those are my favorites. I wish this creator talked though.
It is great to see you have not gone for a miserable dark stain!❤
I think they used dark stains to cover up imperfections in the wood
I'm glad you did not go overboard with the staining..it was just enough colour to bring it to looking it's best..nicely done...

Just Lovely !!!! So glad you put the mirror back on, so many do not when they restore these beautiful pieces!! I love it !!
