Saving the trunk lid not only saved you money, but it'll give you pleasure every time you look at it. Great accomplishment, Phillip and thanks for sharing. I also have a set of HF hammers in the back of my toolbox. No idea why I'm keeping them, but you are absolutely correct - they're junk !!
You are right. the sense of satisfaction will be great! As far as the hammers, I was at a point that I had no choice. I had to replace everything as cheap as possible, and then upgrade later. So, it wont be long, and those HF hammers will be in the back of my toolbox too.
I feel very fortunate to be able to witness the resurrection of your '28 Special Coupe, Phillip! Thank you for sharing this project with us! Onward...thru 'da fog! Bro Harry
Thanks Harry. I decided from the beginning to show every detail, as much as reasonably possible, so that people who have never built one of these cars can see exactly how long it takes, and how much effort goes into it. Unlike all the full time youtubers, and the full time hot rod shops, people can get an idea on my channel what it takes for a working family man to buy a old junk Model-A, and actually build it. I'm glad to share with you guys. Thanks for watching and encouraging me along the way. Hopefully, when this car is done, the regular guys can see the real life struggles, and see that you can get out there and build one with basic tools and a little knowledge. I think our youth are intimidated by these types of projects, and I have a few young guys following. Thanks Bro.
Good work with the dents! That studgun is a familiar to me too. I borrowed one from a friend of mine and it works really good. I have noticed same thing with the body hammers. Those cheap ones are not what they are supposed to be and the good ones costs you a leg, arm or your firstborn child. So now and then i have bought an used Snap-on tools body hammers from ebay. I think that used snap-on tools 25-30$ hammer is a lot better way to spend money, than a 30$ set of chinese hammers. Keep it up!
Great idea on buying used hammers on eBay. I have been looking at them lately myself, and I have a few I want to get. I just got in my new handles in for my old set. When I get them back in usable condition, I am going to start adding to my collection, likely buying used ones, and restoring them. I was at a place with these Chinese ones that I had to have them quick, and needed something temporary to get me going. I am going to be doing some work on them to improve them, but they will be at some point reserved for general beating on rough stuff I don't want to use my good hammers for.
Looking good.... The finish line on the truck lid is within sight.... I also have the HF hammer set and I had to rework all the faces to where they were flat and smooth ... Don’t have the stud welder yet, but it’s on my list... Till your next video,, take care my friend...
I brought the stud welder home from work, so I didn't have to buy one. But, from what I see, they aren't too terribly expensive, so a fella could definitely justify buying one if needed.
Good morning Phillip and happy Sunday to you! That was a lot of work but dang that looks nice! I had bought one of those stud guns quite a few years and works like a cat’s meow! Another awesome video, really liking the progress on that ol trunk lid, glad you decided on fixing it! Have a great week!
Happy Sunday to you! Yes sir, it was a lot of work. This video doesn't do justice showing the number of hours it took me to get it that straight. I condensed every night last week and half a day Saturday into a 30 minute video haha. I just kept pressing through to get it done. Have a good week as well, thank you!
It’s definitely well worth the time and effort you’re putting into it, it will be a real nice solid car once you’re done. What part of Alabama do you live in?
I live far west in Canada in forest fire country right now but my daughter moved to Knoxville, who knows maybe my next visit out, I may pop out to check out your shop if that’s alright?
Absolutely. I have done some work to the Chinese ones, but they still need more work. A little dressing up on a good quality hammer is one thing, but having to take off heavy material to make it work is a different story.

Well, all I can say about that is, when you see my belly poking out in my videos, that's from eating the whole donut, not the donut hole LOL. I have a couple sitting on the counter, and I'm about to eat one here in a few minutes haha! I wish I could find a young person interested in building hot rods, that would be awesome. I just haven't ran across one yet. Maybe when by boy gets a little older he will be interested. He is 6 now, so it won't be too long maybe. Have a good one! Thanks for watching as always!

Way down in South Alabama. I'm only 38 miles from the Florida state line in Coffee County.
I live far west in Canada in forest fire country right now but my daughter moved to Knoxville, who knows maybe my next visit out, I may pop out to check out your shop if that’s alright?
I'm around a 6.5 hour drive from knoxville, around 420 miles.
Anytime you get body hammers, you have to polish the face on them.

I see a new coupe
Where?
