I just had to comment, I'm really liking the looks of this roadster. The dual headlights on each side go together with the tail lights... Brilliant and unique!
As someone who has only recently found your channel, I love everything I have seen you do to these wonderful cars! Your attention to detail is outstanding ! Another GREAT video. Congrats!
That Sweetheart is my favorite! It's just perfect all the way around, and a all Matt creation! Those headlights and tail lights are the greatest, and I could go on and on! Even the name, ( Sweetheart Roadster ) is perfect! Great work, Matt!
Awesome job on it , Matt ! Love the Sweetheart roadster , definitely has come a long way . Glad you could get some "quality time" in on it . Lots of projects , never a dull moment . Have an excellent new year !
I like that this car is a long term project and you are going one step at a time to make it right. So many RUclips projects are bang it out in 2 or 3 episodes, drive it around the block and on to the next one. That can sometimes make those of us with long term projects feel a bit inadequate lol Love this hot rod, my favourite era is late 50s early 60s, and that you’re showing is the long road it takes to actually do them right.
Happy New Year to you all at Iron Trap Garage. This sort of work takes ages to do properly but for me it is just so worth it. I have seen so many cars at shows where they look great until you look more closely and the panel fit and gapping is not good and spoils the car. When it is done right it makes for a really smart looking car. On the boot lid maybe an adjustable rubber bump stop at each bottom corner might help align the boot lid and then help with the latching. I appears on the video that the boot lid does not have much torsional rigidity. I would take as much time as it needs to get that latching just so otherwise it will bug you later.
Hi, nice work! those louvers look great but they sure are a pain to finish. on my car I spent many hours of tedious labor to get them acceptable. the license plate would look much better if it's let in about 1 1/2 inch to accommodate a light. Rich
Love these videos. When you said that you're going to do some license plate modifications, I was like uh oh. It's probably too late, and I'm not sure what you have planned, but can a car be over customized?
Saw Steve in the background still installing the firewall in the convertible. 😂 Nice work on this roadster. If I recall, didn't you take that lid off another car you bought over the summer? It may have fit that car better.
Hi Matt, Loved the video but I have a question… I understand how you gapped the outer trunk lid but what about the inner panel? Did you cut through both, weld up the outer panel and then go back and weld the inner? I’m at that place on my 30 Model A Coupe and I’m not quite sure how to proceed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
PS...be sure to NOT put a bad drain in the trunk floor, negative pressure over the trunk lid sucks road dust in. No fenders, no top, its raining hard.... go for a drive... Lol. Seriously though I would have tossed the louvered lid.

Glad you like them!
amazing what a difference the gaps made!
Being of an age when these kind of cars were first done, I have to say you are spot on. Thank you, first rate job.
Love the attention to detail, love the custom touches.

it's a trip to go back and see how this car started out. i love custom rods.
Thank you Matt for the update on the Sweetheart Roadster ! It's starting to look awesome !
Your body work gets more and more impressive with each build, Matt. Details make the car better and better!
I appreciate that!
Hi Matt! Is always a pleasure to see you at work!👍👍👍👍
The car really looks great Matt. Happy New Year to you and your family and the guys .

Nice work Matt. I'm kicking myself for not being in the garage right now. LOL Roadster's do get my heart pounding.
Great job as always loved that roadster but wish it was in my garage
It can be... $$,$$$
Gaps look amazing!
Much better fit for sure. Good work as usual. It will soon be time for paint compared to when you started.
I can’t wait to be to that point!
Excellent work on a excellent rod.
Amazing craftsmanship Matt nice job !
Looks like one of the decklids my daughter and I cut louvres in at Verns. We made decklids for Brookville.
Wow from the videos I never really noticed how far out it was. Great Content Matt!
Thanks for watching!
58 Chevy Bel Aire tail lites. Look cool!
Wondering why the distortion in the quarters wasn't addressed first. ...but you got it done, that's all that matters.
Steve makes a great stick man.
Matt, can you show how the water will be managed on the deck lid... washing, rain, driving...etc.
Nice work as usual Matt!
Thanks again!
Nice job Matt
Dig the "gap" music :)

Agreed I have rubber bumpers sitting in a bag in the car to add in the corners for just that. Great minds think alike 👍
It's a great skill to know how to tig weld.
Thanks Matt, Please record how you repair the top of the rear panels.
You're an artist sir. Great fab work 👍👍
Very cool nice work matt
You gotta love the suspenseful music 😂 nice job Matt
Incredible work Matt! I love the channel!! Your OCD must drive you crazy 😂
Haha I have weird OCD only about certain things and there’s no rhyme or reason to it. Thats the real frustrating part! Haha
looks much better
Dude!!! Thank you!!! I learned something today!!! Great video!!! ✌️
Thanks for watching!
That takes alot of patience! 😂
Old school trick as to get a plate section f on a rear van door and use It it was already reset
o happy new year to all there

It can be over customized but the license plate mount will be subtle and flow with the rest of the car I think

It didn’t fit that car at all either.
@@IronTrapGarage 😂 I should have known. Thanks guys. 💯👍
I know the job was frustrating, glad you didn't flip your lid.
do you have a color theme for the coupe the car is looking great

Yes cut through and welded both
Matt did you use wedges on the other side to keep the trunk lid from sliding over ?
Yes that’s correct
Love those tail lights! What are the from?
'58 chevy
@@DarkFlamage thanks bud.
Just wondering Matt do you do your body work or send it out
PS...be sure to put a good drain in the trunk..! Lol

Do you think the guy who louvred that trunk lid ever used his louvre press again? Ha ha. Looks 100% better.
The louvers look great. Why would you ask that question?
Iffen he did it on a bead roller, I don't think he would
@@IEchuckie Robot.
Please tell me you are planning some clever, trick rear deck lid prop. A car that nice deserves better than a wooden stick....
Punchingvthatvmany louvers likely stretched the skin..lol
Good work...good luck..
Lookin shiny...no paint is a good look for that rod
😃
Not perfect but better.
Nice
